The furnishings were very nice and comfortable. The location was so nice. woodsy, and private with access to hiking trails right up the road. We'd stay there again!

The property location is good as it relates to Winter Park Ski resort and the town of WP. However, there isn’t much room around the property if you bring a dog of any size along for the stay, so do your homework about areas in WP to run your dog ahead of time. Many details like shoveling ahead of arrival, electrical issues with the range top, shower not fully functional all need to be addressed. For the money I expect the place to be pretty spotless upon arrival, small amenities like tissues should be available and any ancillary bedding should actually fit the beds.

    Great Cabin in Winter Park

    Reviewed by: Alex S. on

    Comment:

This cabin was overall a nice experience! The photos on the rental site are up to date which is a major plus. Decor was perfectly placed. It has this comfy-warm-cabin vibe like you'd see in the movies. When we got there, the carbon monoxide alarm was beeping because the battery was low, so we took it out & I emailed Evolve and they got right back to me. Not something that would bump down a star. The binder on the peninsula was a nice addition if we needed to read up on the place. One amenity I think would?ve been great as a freebie are some new oxygen cans since Winter Park is located in a higher altitude. Our favorite feature of the house was the fireplace! It was on for a majority of the time we were in the cabin to keep us warm, so we hung out there a lot. It might be smarter to get smaller couches in order to maximize space on the main level though, but for the two of us that stayed there it was fine. We agreed that 7 people or less would be a more reasonable number of guests. Bathrooms were clean and we loved the heated floors! A perfect feature for when it gets cold. The master bedroom was comfortable, but I was shocked one time so I got a dryer sheet and wiped it down. Another cool feature we liked was the loft! We would've liked to see a TV on the main level, but the TV in the loft was fine as is; we didn?t use it a whole lot though, so not a deal-breaker. We were glad the loft is carpeted. Couches were clean and comfy. The only negative impression I got is that since this place is animal friendly, I thought I saw some stains in a few carpeted areas of the loft and bedroom, but this doesn?t bump it down a star. Finally, the cabin is in a great location in Winter Park!! Far enough from the main street, but still very close if you want to drive to the restaurants & shops.

Super location and comfortable property that sleeps several. Set up good for groups. We needed some space for a small family gathering one of the days of our stay, so it worked well for us. There were a few things that could use some attention. There was no coffee, there's a pot and filters, but no coffee. Also, the sheets are microfiber which I consider to be cheap sheets. I expected better bedding for the price of the cabin. Towels and bath supplies were clean and plentiful, but there were no garbage bags at all in the cabin and the wifi never did work. I contacted the management and they did bring the bags in a timely manner. Overall it was good, furniture and beds were comfortable and location is close to everything without being on top of everyone.

    Comment:

We had a great time staying at this property. The house was clean and accommodating. We bought hummingbird feeders (wish the owners had had some) and saw lots of beautiful hummingbirds. Beds were comfortable and everything worked. A few caveats to future renters: this is one of five or six small houses (some are duplexes) jammed together right beside a road, so it's not exactly a solitary retreat as it appears to be in the pictures. This small house is the closest to the road and has no creek access, though the others do. The setting is pleasant, but hardly private. If you bring your dogs, be aware that the stairs are very far apart with space underneath them, so dogs may have a tough time getting upstairs or even fall through the stairs (as one of ours did). The patio is lovely but has only some dining chairs and a table. The property is close to hiking trails and to the town of Winter Park. The most exciting part of our stay was spotting a couple of bears in the woods by the creek and in the parking lot!

    Comment:

We loved staying here, beautiful home in a great location, less than a minute from the heart of town! My boyfriend specifically loved the heated bathroom floors and the fireplace! I loved the tall windows that let a lot of light in during the day! There were a few strange things about our stay, however: First, it looked like they were doing some maintenance/remodeling or something on the house - by the back sliding glass door, maybe they were replacing it, I'm not sure, but trim had been ripped off and the supplies were all over the porch. There was fairly big hole in the bottom corner of the wall by the sliding door that was letting the outside air in - we thought this was quite strange and worried about it effecting the temperature inside. It ended up not being a problem and we stayed pretty toasty! (Luckily we weren't there in the middle of the winter season!) The patio and grill were one of the reasons we chose this place, and we had planned to grill outside on the patio one night but didn't because of all the tools and supplies out there. There was no room to relax! We werent too bothered by it though - we went and found a nice place in town to grab a bite to eat instead! We only stayed for 2 nights - If we had stayed longer it might have been a bigger issue for us. Second, we were relaxing upstairs one afternoon when we heard a knock at the door. It was someone who was related to the owner of the house (I think she said her daughter-in-law owned the house?) and she wanted to know if we were leaving because she wanted to stay in the house that night. She was polite and friendly... but we did find it extremely strange. If she wanted to use her in-laws cabin, shouldn't she ask them if it's been pre-booked instead of knocking on the door when there is clearly people paying to stay there? Our car was parked outside and everything. All in all, none of these things ruined our trip, and it was a beautiful place to stay. I would only take half a point off for these minor incidents - but I cant give 4.5 stars, so we will round up ;)

A couple concerns: The stairs made me very nervous with young children under 6 so we had to be very aware of where our child was at all times. We also had problems with the sliding door - it would not lock. Hopefully this was something no one was aware of and now will be fixed now that it has been brought to their attention.

Our "home away from home" has become Winter Park and we have stayed at a lot of places there throughout the years. This one is by far our favorite! The location was perfect and although there are some neighbors, and I often enjoy complete solitude where we stay, the trees and corner location make the property feel miles away. We loved the back patio and upstairs loft for relaxing at the end of the day. Every blanket, pillow, couch and bed surface was incredibly comfortable. I cannot say enough great things about this location and the customer service through Evolve. This is my first time working with a service and it was awesome, giving me great peace of mind months ago when I booked it. Everything was perfect and I am so grateful for the experience that will last us a lifetime.

    BEYOND EXPECTATIONS!!!

We have rented many homes that will allow dogs. This one has been my favorite for location, cleanliness, thoughtfulness, and overall experience. We did not have one issue. Beds were comfortable and everything was well kept and clean even though it is a home that allows pets! We loved the deck, proximity to hiking, proximity to town, the pillows, water pressure in the shower and it was just well thought out and well run. Beyond pleased! A small hand blender would have helped our cooking endeavors but I wouldn't expect it. Great job and fabulous property!

    Great cabin

Very convenient location, attractive furnishings, comfortable beds. Overall, a very nice and relaxing place to stay. We would definitely stay here again. We loved the sound of the creek. Great porch which is enclosed. Our dog loved hanging out on the porch, and we didn't have to worry about her wondering away.

The kitchen has everything you need--pots and pans, but there really isn't much beyond salt and pepper for cooking ingredients. We left cooking spray, olive oil, coffee and a few other ingredients. Hope they stay for the next guests. Bring your own trash bags.

My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the cabin wasn't ready at check in time. The housekeepers arrived too late to get the cabin cleaned, and then they rushed through the cleaning.

    This cabin will not disappoint.

    Perfect stay in WP

Great place for a stay in Winter Park. Every detail was just about perfect: location/proximity, nice/clean/comfortable interior/decor, gas fireplace, dogs permitted, deck, parking, wifi. The only slightest drawback is that the house is about 10ft from the next house over; its not quite as private/secluded as I gathered from the listing's photos, but still a great place. Easily my first choice of places to stay in WP.

    Nice trip, mediocre details

Pros: Free standing home without shared walls like a condo, fairly safe driveway and yard for kids to stretch, close to a stream for exploring children, two real bedrooms with closets, close to “downtown” and short drive to Winter Park and a massive YMCA

Cons: Let’s first talk about safety: NO SMOKE DETECTORS. Colorado law requires carbon monoxide detectors which they did have, but this is an older home with many electrical oddities (extension cord Christmas lights, flickering under kitchen cabinet lights, odd placed “switched” outlets) and smoke detectors should be a no brainer for any house. There is no security for the sliding door except for a wooden stick that sits in the floor. The lock does not work. This is obviously a child friendly home with two sets of bunk beds, but one of the highest stair spindles is loose enough that a child can fall through it and fall 10 feet. Besides the safety issues, there was a broken front door stop, the brake stop for the storm door does not work and most of the blinds need attention. Total lack of maintenance.

Evolve states this is a “cabin”, but it is a single family house. There is no “cabin” about it. The listing states it can accommodate 10 people. I think 6 would be a stretch unless it is 10 college-aged men. Be prepared to purchase everything at the store including Kleenex, cooking spray, trash bags and even hand soap. If you drive and are a few hours away from home, you can take all of the things that you buy for the house…if you drive from another state or fly, be prepared to purchase those things and leave them or trash them. The house only has a basic set of dishes and a primitive set of cooking utensils. The Evolve rental agreement states that you have to pay mandatory damage insurance in lieu of a security deposit but it also states that you are financially obligated for any damage. They also state that not to use the garbage disposal and to clean and put away the dishes for the next tenant. There was food in the garbage disposal and the dishwasher was full at out arrival. Disappointing. The most obnoxious move was the cleaning crew arriving 30 minutes before checkout sitting in the driveway inches from our car watching us pack for our departure. Who does that?

The bottom line: A good value compared to a condo or hotel room with neighbors on the other side of sheetrock, but Evolve and their maintenance company needs a refresher in customer service. Knowing what we know now, we will probably stay again with our own smoke detector, basic supplies and ear plugs for the train horn.

We had a wonderful time. The house was beautiful and clean, and it had everything we needed. And, it was so close to town. The sound of the creek was so lovely. Thanks for the awesome memories!

great place. It was quiet and close to the creek, which was very relaxing, yet close to town. We have stay many places in Winter Park over the years and this is up at the top as one of our favorites. The place was very clean and obviously newly renovated. Comfortable furniture to relax after long days of fishing and hiking.
