  We had a great getaway! Everything was just as the listing in the pictures advertised. It’s in a secluded area about 20 minutes from Boone. It had everything you could need. Clean and cozy! Just what we needed to enjoy a few relaxing days away!

• A blatant waste of money!

  We arrived after dark and there were no lights to assist in “punching in code.” There’s a permanent live in tenet downstairs who left backyard outdoor lights that shown in master bedroom at night. There was no garbage facilities on property, we as guests are expected to drive 2 miles to the dump. (No we refused) and this was never mentioned in and materials sent to us. The place is pet friendly and you could tell not cleaned very well as my dogs couldn’t stop smelling.

  The light blanket and duvet were not laundered between guests. I found this to be very unsanitary.

  The smoke detectors went off at 2am and couldn’t be shut off, had to be disarmed.

  Cleaning people cane at 10:15 day of check out, due to medication my husband takes we were running behind. We apologized and packed as quickly as we could. Cleaning lady called property manager and he cussed us out. Telling us it’s “not his problem, just get out or they will call the “law”. And they did. They came in to clean, cleaned the bathroom very poorly and wouldn’t allow use of restroom. One cleaning person told the other one to luck herself in the bathroom until we left.

  The downstairs permanent tenants blocked the circle driveway a couple nights prior so we had to back all around the house to get out which was a bit precarious. In conclusion it was a horrible experience. Not worth the money paid for it or it.

  We understand the checking out process. We really tried to accommodate and apologized. Never stay again!

  Hi Kathy, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
  - We provide multiple lighting options to assist guests with checking in after dark. The front door light is on a sensor and turns on at dusk and off at dawn. The door lock also lights up while in use. There is a switch located directly next to the front door that turns on the string lights providing additional lighting on demand whenever needed. Also, each bedroom is equipped with total blackout curtains that block out all light including the morning sun.
  - The cleaning service disposes of all trash upon checkout. If items need to be discarded before that, there is a free trash facility, 1 mile from the house, that is easily accessed on a guest's way into town. This is a common practice in the mountains as trash service is not provided. Our host explained this to you after you chose to leave your trash in the greenhouse belonging to the downstairs tenants, rather than properly discarding it.
  - Our home is pet friendly, as we love traveling with our animals and we understand how difficult it can be to find places that will accommodate our four-legged friends. We do ask that a pet fee be paid, that everyone pick up after their pets outside, and that pets treat the inside of our home with care - none of which was honored by you upon checkout.
  -As for the house not being cleaned properly, we can assure you that it is thoroughly cleaned and bedding laundered after each guest. An additional deep cleaning was performed after your departure, due to the pet waste found inside our home as well as the condition of the home due to the intentional destruction of the property.
  - Also, on the day of checkout, the cleaning service arrived at 11 am and then returned at 11:15 am after informing you that checkout was at 10 am. We would have been happy to accommodate a late checkout had you requested one, knowing that you would be unable to make the standard checkout time.
  - When the cleaning service returned, you proceeded to launch into a verbal assault on them so aggressively that it necessitated law enforcement intervention. The individuals who stayed in the bathroom did so, since they felt unsafe, considering you and your husband were blocking the front door, so they were unable to leave.
  -While the downstairs tenants have never once blocked the driveway in the two years since they moved in, they would have happily moved their vehicles had you asked them directly or contacted the host for assistance.
  - We’re happy to share that no issues were reported by our most recent guests. We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have a wonderful stay. Thanks for letting us know about your experience!

• Great private cabin

  We came up to visit our nephew who attends App state. Cabin is very close to campus, and quick drive to Blowing Rock. Cabin is very clean and cozy. Really enjoyed our stay. Only thing I would mention is to ensure of 4 wheel drive to access property if coming during winter weather which is mentioned in rental agreement. Would stay here again!
