  • Nice place

    3/5

This is a nice place but the website could be more descriptive. It is an herbal farm run by a very nice family. There is a lot of outside natural space and the rental can fit a large group. The rental is actually 2 separate buildings. One building has the kitchen and dining area. In addition there are 2 separate bedrooms each accessed via a separate outer door. Then one has to climb a ladder like stairs to reach the bed. There are no bathrooms in this building. The other building has a large common room which makes up the first floor. Four of the bedrooms and all of the bathrooms are on the second floor. There are 2 other bedrooms accessible via ladders on the third floor. The upper bedrooms can get quite hot during the day as neither building has air conditioning. If one is sleeping in the building with the kitchen and has to use the bathroom at night, one has to climb down a ladder, cross to the other building and go up a set of stairs. So the buildings have an unusual layout. Due to the layout and lack of air conditioning, members of my party would not recommend this place.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Gerard, we wanted to pass along the following feedback from the homeowners: Hi Gerry, thank you for your review which reiterates the listing description and photos of our retreat center. It is my hope that those who skip over our listing description will read your review which nicely clarifies the unique layout and design of our retreat venue for those choosing to come here. As our listing title clarifies, this is a unique farmstay retreat center, not a vacation rental house. Our venue caters to those seeking a restorative retreat with private time immersed in nature and quality time with friends and family. The galley ladders to our tower bedrooms are shown in the photos and described in the listing, which also notes we do not have air conditioning. Verbal instructions are given upon arrival for how to create optimal room temperatures in the summer (closing windows and blinds/curtains during the day and opening them up and using the fans supplied to bring in the cool evening air). The average evening temperatures here in July are in the low 60s. Even though we have had an unusually hot summer this season, most guests have found these practices sufficient for comfortable indoor climate control or expressed regret for not following this simple instruction. Our arrival instructions also include a recommendation to offer the second floor bedrooms to those needing to get up in the night as the bathrooms are just across the hall. Again thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Hopefully it will create expectations that allow future guests to fully enjoy being here.

We were glad to find a place that would accommodate our large family. We were however disappointed in the set up of the accommodations. There were no air conditioners, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably. There were fans, but they did not do the trick. Some bedrooms were in different buildings and/or had separate entrances. They did not have bathroom facilities in those locations. They had to go outside and into another building to use the restrooms. Some of the rooms were small. The owner did inform me of some of the steep staircases, which is why she says it is not kid friendly. However, the kids liked using those bedrooms and didn't mind the stairs. However, some of us older folks found them to be scary. There was no microwave, which we were hoping to use to warm up leftovers. I guess some of these issues are on me for not asking specific questions.

  • Great meeting place for old freinds!

    5/5

We came out to Montana for an Army reunion. The spot was perfect for us. Plenty of room. The retreat is in an awesome location and we took advantage of the wood burning hot tub and the fire ring as well as plenty of other spaces to sit outdoors in nature and have great conversations with old friends. Lindy was awesome. She really wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay here and we did. We are a bit of a wild bunch but we are getting old so maybe we just think we are at this point lol. We took the tour of her herb gardens and we were truly impressed with her passion and knowledge of it all. Thank you again Lindy for your absolute hospitality. It was an amazing trip.

  • A soul-filling retreat in Montana

    5/5

We had a group of 14 adults stay here for a long weekend getaway, and the property had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. This place is a perfect mix of rustic outdoor amenities, with comfortable touches to still feel like a vacation. We really appreciated having the kitchen and dining room in a separate space from the bedrooms. All of the bedrooms are unique and inviting, with varying levels of natural light. I stayed in a tower room with beautiful views of the surrounding property and sunlight coming in from all sides. Our group especially enjoyed the woodfire hot tub and sauna, the outside dinning area, and fire circle. Be prepared to stoke the fire a bit ahead of time to use these things, but it makes for a really neat experience. Lindy, the property owner is so accommodating and friendly, and has clearly put a lot of thoughtful touches into creating this space for a retreat into beautiful Montana. We spent our days in and around Glacier Natl. Park, which is an easy 30 minute drive away.
