Escalante Nights is a fantastic base for exploring the amazing outdoors of this region! The home was clean, well stocked, and very comfortable. We stayed four nights in October— the days were warm, the nights chilly, and the home was comfortable throughout. The home is walking distance from great restaurants, groceries, and outfitters. After days hiking or canyoneering, Escalante Nights was the perfect retreat!

Everything was as advertised. The only physical note was that the door lock leading to the outdoor wood deck seemed to be stuck or jammed. Probably some WD40 will remedy that. We just used the back door instead. We liked all the thoughtful touches around the house. The neighborhood is also peaceful for evening walks around town.

This was a great home base for several adventures in the area. A soak in the hot tub after a long day on the trail was just what the doctor ordered. No reason to stay anywhere else in the area, this place is perfect.

I've stayed in rentals on three continents, so when I say I recommend this property, I mean it. It's clean and tidy and uncluttered, and the layout is good, too??there's even a mudroom back by the laundry. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal. I visited with just my teenage son in tow, but we could have easily fit a family of four to six. Important to note: we visited in winter, and my understanding is that most winter weeks in Escalante are mild. Not ours. We had single-digit temperatures, snow on the ground to start even at lower elevations, and then received another 14 inches (a conservative estimate) during a 40-hour snowstorm. Because of this, I can say: this home is extremely well insulated! And thank goodness it came with a snow shovel. Without that, even my four-wheel drive would not have made it out of the driveway. Speaking of which, if you're thinking of doing anything on a non-paved road in the Escalante area, I recommend ponying up for a four-wheel drive vehicle. Even the Hole in the Rock (sometimes called Hole in the Wall?) Road has deep ruts that would cause most cars to bottom out. The area itself cannot be beat for scenery, Bryce is an hour away, and the road to Boulder is as jaw-dropping a paved road as you'll find this side of Zion. Some related thoughts: there's one grocery store in town, and it has all the basics, but if you're looking for fine dining supplies, stock up in a bigger town like Cedar City first. (I'm a fan of Harmon's in St. George.) Off-season: a lot of food options are closed. The town is geared more for summertime tourism, so plan accordingly. That said, the people I spoke with in town were not only friendly but downright helpful; given the snow, one local gave me her number in case we had a power failure and needed different shelter options. (Can't imagine that happening in a bigger city??kudos to her and the good folks that raised her.) Bottom line: I look forward to getting back not only to the area (four nights and three days only allowed us to scratch the surface) but to this property in particular.

Second, everything has been provided from a washer and dryer with soap, to towells and shampoo. Third, a hot tub.(I could drop the mic here!) This was glorious to soak in after a full day of hiking! Fourth, the location is ideal. It's so easy to find, and you can head out to adventure right from the front door. Lastly, the area has SO much to explore! You could spend years trying to see everything, and still find something new. We will definitely be back!!

We had dinner at the 4th West Pub and ordered pizza from Escalante Outfitters, breakfast at Circle D and Kiva Koffee House. We highly recommend the property.
