What we loved: 1. Our family enjoyed the spaciousness and configuration of 2 main bedrooms with baths on the main floor and kids area upstairs. The screened in deck was nice on days that it didn't rain. 2. The cabin was well stocked with plenty of cutlery, plates, bowls, and cups. 3. Clean and well-maintained. Although, the screened in deck could use a deep clean and grill had to be cleaned before using during our stay. 4. The owner provided great customer service and quick follow up. 5. Some trips near the cabin that we enjoyed during our stay: shops in Scottsville (antique shop was a hit, even with our young daughter), Chaney's Dairy Barn in Bowling Green, Ralphie's Fun Center in Glasgow, and Ky Down Under. Heads up on a couple of items: 1. We did see in other reviews about the steps to dock being quite steep. Although we were hopeful, grandparents (in 80's) were unable to easily walk up and down. Being close to main part of the lake, the dock is quite open to elements and quite a distance from the cabin (concerned about security). Although a wide, mowed path to the dock, almost the entire path to the dock has poison ivy along the edges. Our family is highly allergic to poison ivy and our young son got poison ivy on his legs the first night (even though we all washed well when we came in). These issues caused us to resort to launching the boat from a ramp. 2. There is an active dairy farm directly across the road. The milking parlor is just around the bend in the road near the cabin. Kids enjoyed seeing the evening milking. They may have been spreading manure in the field across the house just prior to us arriving. It was quite a strong smell. Storms later in the week helped keep the smell down a bit.

This home is more beautiful and comfortable than the photos and description seem. Our group included my husband and myself, and our 3 boys: 26yrs old, 22, and 21. And we had plenty of room to have our own "space", but also to play family games together, and hang out. Bedrooms are super comfortable, everything you need to feel "at home" is available. After stocking up groceries at the local grocery, the kitchen has all the pots, pans, dishes, spices, etc, you need to make meals. Views from every window are amazing. It was too cool to sit out on the awesome patio, so we hope to make it back sometime when the weather is warmer. We took day trips to local caves, corvette museum, and the Octagon House, but spent lots of time just being together as a family in the home. Can't wait to make a return trip! Thank you !

    Great Relaxing Place

Our family of 4 loved Blessing by the Lake As the photos show it is a beautiful home and very well decorated The beds were comfortable and the towels and lines were soft. The quiet AC and fans kept us cool on hot and/or muggy days. The house has everything you need, with 3 tv's and WIFI for the ones who must still maintain access to the world. The home is located down the street from farms with cows, while directly across from a field of tobacco (this year). The road does has some traffic from campers heading to and from the Bailey Point Campground. The neighbors to the south can be heard but not seen but walk thru this property to access the private dock. The woods offer wildlife. We saw five-line skink lizards, chipmunks, squirrels, and got a great photo of a wood pecker. There are various bees or wasps but the owner has set up humane traps and bug spry if needed. We were really surprised how many areas of the house you could enjoy. Seating areas include the loft, great room, two upper deck outside areas (off both bedrooms), screened in porch, the super long front porch and the walk out basement. We felt a couple of families could enjoy this home at one time. The sunsets were beautiful - though a little obscure by the trees. The west A frame windows sometimes blinded you when making dinner in the kitchen. Mammoth cave is 45 minutes away and we stopped at a Walmart at Glasgow. Almost daily we would visit Barren River Lake State Park - were we rented pontoon boats for the day, we are nof golfers but had fun just renting the golf carts, there is a beach, plenty of deer, horseback riding, nice trails and the entrance is free. We rented the boats on the weekdays and enjoyed the cruising and floating the miles of river with very few others on the water. We saw many large fish, turtles, heron, hawks, and occasional eagle. Most of the shore is rocky and/or steep like at this cabin. We visited local nature preserve trails and other campgrounds in the area. So we enjoyed both the nature and the many amenities this cabin home offered.

The house was fine but we chose this house for the easy access to fishing. The east access was not there. There was a 200 yd walk, a hill down and a hill up, a locked gate, 50+ steps, and arrival at a garbage dump. And then do it all again to return to the house. There was also a note from the owners about how slippery the stairs were when wet and the fact that venomous snakes had been seen there. Our granddaughters were not getting anywhere near the walk to the lake and there was no way we would take them there. We left on Thursday rather than stay til Saturday. We feel like we were misled and deceived. Reviewer location Traveling from Louisville KY, Versailles KY , Concord NC, Laguna Hills CA

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to let us know about the issues that arose during your trip. We take feedback from our guests very seriously, and we reached out to the property owner to determine how to best to address this problem. As a courtesy, in the welcome book at the lake house, the owners remind our guest of two things: while being in a wooded area you could encounter “woodsy" things and water on any surface has the propensity to be slippery. Merely cautionary. In regards to the gate, the locked gate is on the adjoining property. There is a walking path around the gate and also, an alternate route to the docks. Debris washing into the cove from the lake is unavoidable. Debris wash in and out depending on the waves and wind direction. Our dock is only one of eight docks in this shared cove. We revised the description of the walk to the dock on the rental website to include the specifics of walking down the gradual slope (600 ft) and descending 55 steps, to avoid any hint of deception. We do see that you reached out during your stay to address these problems and hope that the resolution we came to was satisfactory. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out to Evolve Vacation Rental Network. Our team will be happy to work with you. We want to make sure travelers have the best vacation rental experience at this home, so we do thank you again for your constructive feedback and we hope to assist you again in booking a vacation rental that will exceed your expectations! Two older couples stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. The large circle drive out front made it easy to park by the porch to unload all our things into the house; there are only a few steps on the porch. The inside was wonderful; there is a half bath just inside the front entryway, along with a closet on the opposite side. Both bedroom suites were delightful; the beds were very comfortable and the baths were nice. The queen suite has a jetted tub with separate shower and the king suite has a large shower only. The kitchen was well stocked with just about anything you might need; just bring your own food/beverages. We spent a lot of time on the screened in area of the deck; it was so enjoyable and no worry about bugs. Watched beautiful sunsets over the lake almost every evening. Did not go to the private dock since we did not have a boat. Ate at the state park lodge twice; once they had a buffet and the other time the soup/salad bar was available. We went to Glasgow several times; went to the cultural center and were impressed by the exhibits there. Ate at the Gondolier Italian restaurant; the portions were large and the desserts are to die for. Also dined at Colton's Steakhouse and enjoyed it as well. Glasgow has several grocery stores, pharmacies and a Walmart if you need to do any shopping; there are also locally owned businesses too. We went to Habegger's Amish Market near Scottsville; the place was packed. We ate lunch there and then did some shopping; they have fresh baked breads, all kinds of candies, canned goods, jams/jellies, flours, noodles/pasta, seasonings and more. They are open Monday-Saturday. There are signs on the roads that direct you to the place. We had planned on going on the tour of Lost River Cave near Bowling Green but it was closed due to high water. This cave has the only underground boat tour in Kentucky. Blessings has plenty of tourist info in a basket in the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay so much we plan on returning next year. Blessings is probably the best vacation rental we have ever stayed at; we have stayed at other properties in Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee over the years. Really, everything was top notch! If you want a secluded country feel, about 45 minutes from main attractions this is your spot. I would for sure stay here again!

This cabin is immaculate and has had updates since the posted online photos. Wonderful, private setting -- there's a cabin or two nearby, but you can't see/hear them. Nice view of the lake through the trees on the huge deck (plus bonus area below the deck with awesome swings). Easy walk down to the dock. Furnishings are super nice and comfy -- we were shopping online so we could duplicate some in our own home, ha! If you can't live without the internet, the wifi connection and speed works great. There's even a work area upstairs with a printer provided if you need it. Owners are super generous with sundries/toiletries, detergents, towels and bedding, blankets, etc. We'll definitely be back! Thanks for a wonderful stay and some much-needed R&R with the family.

What a beautiful, well appointed cabin! We're a group of friends who get away once a year for a much needed escape from the work and family daily pressures to just relax and enjoy our friendship. The living room provided a wonderfully comfortable area to hang out in - especially with a roaring fire. We loved that firewood was provided, that the kitchen was well appointed, the beds comfortable and the house was not only clean but charmingly appointed. There were many discussions about coming back and possibly adding a summer weekend so we can enjoy the wonderful porches.

Such a peaceful setting to get away with the family. A farm in front; a picturesque lake in back. The house was immaculate, the pictures do not do it justice. The owners were so gracious as we called to work out issues (our own not the house). The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and gadgets to fix most meals.

The location was perfect for those wanting to hide from busy life, but 30 minutes from area attractions like caves, museums and shopping if that is your flavor.

Although the house is beautiful, and well appointed, it is not meant for more than 4 adults. Your description should read 2 master suites, one king, one queen. The third bedroom is meant for children only, 2 bunk-beds that are separated. The mattresses have plastic in them and make noise with every movement one makes. The bathroom in the loft is for children, too. I couldn't see above my chin in the mirror. I ended up sleeping on the floor...The lower level does have a full bed, however, there is no drywall, and no bathroom. Plus, it smells like a basement. The lower level was not an option! It also doesn't mention that you have to walk through the woods to get to the stairs to the lake. Additionally, you should mention there are 55 steps to go down to get to the lake, and then back up. The trail back to the house in an incline...

    Manager's Response:
Thank you for the review! We are glad you enjoyed the property. We have brought your feedback to the homeowner's attention. The homeowner has replaced the mattresses in the property. The lower level is not a part of the rental and is not advertised in the listing. The homeowner is considering closing off the lower level to prevent any confusion for future renters! We will make the adjustments to the listing to make that more clear. We apologize for the confusion and we wish you the best of luck in your future travels! Cheers, Evolve Team
