Loved the quiet, mountaintop neighborhood. The views are exactly as pictured, if not better. Secluded but only about 6 miles away from town. Just a warning, roads to the house can be a little trying if you're not used to sloping gravel roads but I have to say that the roads here were better than most mountain cabins I've been too. I rented the upstairs unit and the cleanliness and the communication from host was perfect. Hiking up and down the mountain was also fun. WiFi And cellular reception can be spotty but that's to be expected. Gail's a perfect host.

    Breathtaking view

    Reviewed by: Lesa B. on

The views were absolutely beautiful, the house is dated but very clean and had everything needed for cooking etc. I have given a 4 star rating because we were not expecting to do laundry and clean the house up while on vacation. We had a very active trip planned and did not spend a whole lot of time at the house and I was a little stressed trying to figure out when I could strip the bed and launder the towels and sheets before leaving. We were gone from 8am-11pm the night before leaving and had to get up extra early to do laundry so we could leave at our planned time of 8am, not really what I wanted to worry about on our trip. I feel that if there is a cleaning fee paid then I shouldn't have to clean before leaving.

Up a gravel road on a hill near the pleasant little town of Burnsville,NC, this unique circular house is an excellent choice for people like us who are looking for a quiet retreat.
The view of the Black Mountain range across the valley is stunning, always changing with the weather and the light. Be prepared to drive for some miles in any direction to arrive at "name" tourist attractions but they are there for easy day trips.

    We hope to return.

Hummingbird capital of the Great Smokies.

    Reviewed by: Sandra D. on

Hummingbirds are my favorite. Way to much energy. One morning they were waiting for me to put out the feeder, when I hung it on the hook in a half a second I had one less than a foot from me. I didn't know they have a little chirp. Never have I been that close to one. With the back ground of the Smokies with in the morning fog it was spectacular. I will definitely be back. What an experience. So quite and relaxing, on a rocking chair, over looking the mountains. I just would have liked to see a bear. Maybe next time.

    Amazing views with complete solitude

    Reviewed by: Abby C. on

The views from this property are unbeatable! Watching the sun rise from the balcony every morning was breathtaking and we had the place to ourselves for the majority of the long weekend. The only down side is the distance from everything. You?re high up a very long dirt road which lends itself to a peaceful retreat but going out took some careful maneuvering. Town left much to be desired but luckily Ashville and the Blue Ridge Parkway were about an hour away. Perfect if you want a great peaceful retreat but not near anything.

    Very isolated

    Reviewed by: Lucy L. on

The view and house were great. The road to the view and house is not for the faint hearted. And old logging road that winds it's way up to the top of a ridge on gravel. Once we got acclimated it was fine during the day, but would not navigate it after dark. If you are mountain lovers, you will love this place. Only about 1/2 hour to town and restaurants.

Lovely Accomodations with Amazing Views...10 minutes to town

    Reviewed by: Dawn on

Lovely stay in comfortable apartment. The views were beyond compare. Linens, towels, firewood, detergents, pots/pans/utensils all provided. WiFi and satellite were good. House was overall very neat and clean and check-in/out was a breeze. Our only negatives were: the bed quilts were a bit musty and had some dog hair on them; some previous renters had used firewood in the fire pit and left some trash there as well, and there was no mention in the directions to the landfill for the required removal of trash that the locations are both closed on Sundays (when we checked out)- a bit inconvenient-Sunday check out directions for trash removal would be a helpful addition to the rental instructions. Otherwise it was a perfectly lovely stay. We really enjoyed sitting by the fireplace each evening. Perfect deck for stargazing too! We would definitely return! Thank you!

Enjoyed our stay. Looking for an actual vacation where relaxing was in order; found it here. Apartment on the side of a mountain with great views. Washing machine and dishwasher was available and worked perfectly. Dishes and silverware also available as we cooked majority of the time on stove/oven. Local grocery, Ingles, has everything you can want for food shopping. Again, stayed mostly in the apartment so cannot actually speak about the town, but, while shopping, everyone was friendly. Overall, great stay and would return again.Thank you.

    Wonderful, completely as advertised

    Reviewed by: Elliot S. on

The first thing is the view. Exceptional mountain views in all directions, viewed from either the large porch or inside behind panoramic windows. Rooms were spacious, everything was clean and neat. There were people in the unit downstairs, but we could barely tell they were there. Road is a little rough, but only for a short time, and no problem if you drive reasonably. Would be happy to return. Did I mention the view?

    Beautiful Vistas and quiet retreat

    Reviewed by: Kevin B. on

Gail's home was well maintained and had a gorgeous view right out the front of the windows. Pictures do not do it justice. Firewood for wood burning fireplace was provided and plentiful. The home is located well off and up from the main road (if that was an issue in Burnsville). Only thing to consider is that the home is 2 stories and the lower level is a separate rental if that concerns you. It was unbooked for our trip and only added to the serenity. It was our base camp for hiking the Black Mountain Crest Trail and it worked out perfectly. We would stay here again and recommend highly.

Much needed relaxation near Blue Ridge Parkway

    Reviewed by: Kari A. on

Lovely property located close to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We were able to bring our German Shepherd and soak in the gorgeous mountain views. Hiking, visiting Asheville, driving the Blue Ridge, and relaxing on the deck. Big kitchen to make meals in and we watched the deer eat breakfast outside the dining window. Owners had bird feeders we could put out, making it fun to see species we hadn't seen up close. Comfortable bed and the ability to do laundry was a plus. House was clean and well-maintained. If you would like to use the grill, bring some charcoal. Grocery store was 8 miles away so you can always pick up items you may have forgotten to pack.

Wow, what a beautiful view of the NC mountains! Loved the fall colors! The round house was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including wifi, and a much appreciated washer and dryer. Our hosts, Eric and Gail, were wonderful, and the little town of Burnsville is a hI'den gem! We met so many nice people and frequented many local businesses, including Pig & Grits, Rescue Dog Cafe, Appalachian Java, and even found doggy daycare for our puppy in Burnsville, through rover.com. We hiked the Appalachian Trail from Carvers Gap to Grassy Ridge Bald (stunning views!), Mt. Mitchell to Mt. Craig, the Crabtree Falls Waterfall Loop, and spent an afternoon checking out the gorgeous Linville Falls! We highly recommend the round house and the area. Would love to go back!
