The house was amazing. The beds were very comfortable and the view from the deck was amazing. Thank you for sharing your house with us!

Great place in the middle of Gila national forest. Awesome hiking trails. Town is an hour away, but that makes it such a great getaway from the city life!

Awesome place to stay in the Gila national forest. It is a bit of a drive to silver city but the drive is so nice! The hiking was spectacular! Cliff dwellings for sure!

We stayed at the Deer Spirit Cabin during Thanksgiving. The home is very well appointed. Truly nothing is lacking. The wraparound porch was especially good for relaxing. I recommend the property quite highly!

The house is roomy and comfortable with all the amenities. The deck looks out on a fantastic view of the valley and the lake is only a short walk away. It is pretty isolated, with nearly an hour drive into Silver City. This means lots of wildlife (we saw deer, fox, turkey and raccoon) and an incredible night sky. It is close to the Gila Cliff Dwellings, which is a must see. If you are coming here, bring a pickup or 4WD. The driveway is deep gravel and very steep. I had to rally my little Honda to get up there, but it can be done. All in all, a great visit!

Place was just as described. Plenty of space and very clean and quiet. We were only there to sleep and shower so it was fine for us. Would have been nice if the second bathroom shower had some water pressure. Otherwise, everything else was great. Super peaceful and if there aren't any clouds, you can basically see every single star in the sky from up there =) If you don't have a 4X4, just put it in first gear and floor it up the road until you get to the top. We learned that the hard way but got up there after a few tries =) Thanks for having us!

Lovely cabin. Cleaning fee is way too high for how much they make you clean prior to checkout however. Overall, excellent stay.

The driveway to the house was very steep and a little difficult for one of the smaller non four wheel drive cars in our party. But that was noted in the check in info. The house was very comfortable. It had everything we needed including lots of towels, extra pillows and sheets, trash bags, extra toilet paper, fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer with soap and some toiletries. The view was beautiful. There were places for groceries and gas listed but they are quite a ways away, so be prepared. There are check out instructions about cleaning like taking sheets off the beds. We thought this was a little unreasonable considering the cleaning fee was almost the price of two nights worth of stay. It also stated to take out the trash but we couldn't figure out where to take it and did not get any response from them. We were quite nervous about leaving the trash because it specifically said it would charge us for any uncleaned messes. One number provided said it was disconnected. Other than these two issues it was a nice stay.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, comfortable cabin. The views from the porch of the lovely forest are wonderful!

The cabin sits on a high ridge with a great, expansive view to the nearby mountain range that is closer than the provided photos might have indicated. One of the best features is the extremely well-appointed kitchen with every supply one might need for making one's meals including good knives (a rare item in a rental!). Less successful were the electrical switches, some of which were taped over as non-functioning or to be operated only with a remote control. We didn't need the overhead fan, but additional lighting for the main living room might have helped. Another minor inconvenience was the very low water pressure. It took quite a while to fill water pitchers, etc. The doorway between the living room/dining space and the two-bedroom wing of the house could have used some kind of door: either a folding door or even a hanging curtain of some sort so people using the bathroom on that side could go between the bedroom and bathroom with a bit more privacy. The deck was nicely appointed with generous amounts of furniture, but it was still too cool to sit outside in the mornings and evenings. There wasn't quite enough comfortable seating for three couples to watch TV. One additional comfy chair in the living room could help that situation. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. The dining room table was very large to accommodate everyone and there were very good provisions of the basic needs such as napkins and paper products, foil, baggies, and a great selection of spices and condiments (although we had brought our own.) We didn't do laundry, but we noted there were very good appliances, detergents, etc. provided for that as well. The only other caveat is that the cabin, while remote and therefore quiet, is quite a way from some of the attractions. Although Silver City is only 25 miles (approx.) away, it takes almost an hour and a half to get there because of curvy, hilly roads. The same goes for natural attractions such as the GIla Cliff Dwellings which require quite a drive to access. One needs to be sure of basic supplies such as gasoline and groceries before heading out. So if one is aware and fully prepared, it can be a real "quiet retreat" for a vacation. We were generally very happy with our stay but, just as some others wrote, a bit surprised at the cost for the cleaning service. Perhaps it's because cleaning crews have to come in from afar that adds to that cost. Overall, a good, quiet place!

Great place. Great view. Mountain cabin with every amenity. Make sure to the read house details/rules section for check in instructions (we were not communicated this), because no phone service for at least an hour away from place. Wifi still connects you to the outside world.

The Deer Spirit Cabin was spacious, comfortable and mid way between the Gila Cliff Dwellings and Silver City--meeting our primary goals.
The check in/ out instructions provided at confirmation of our reservation were not as complete as they could/should have been. I did not realize that we would be responsible for doing sheets/towels laundry until near the end of our stay--which delayed our scheduled early am departure. Especially with the prepaid (generous) cleaning fee. Other than that surprise, we enjoyed our stay. N

The cabin was well stocked with everything you could need. The property was very clean also! The kitchen had everything you would need as far as cooking utensils, spices, etc. During our stay we saw both wild turkeys and deer from the kitchen window. The location was perfect for us and made the trip to the Cliff Dwellings more manageable with a toddler. The only thing I would have like to have known before we arrived was that there was no cell phone service in the area (maybe it was just our carrier Verizon). Overall we loved our stay, the house and location were perfect.

I have rented a few time through VRBO, I would have to say this is the best cabin yet that we have stayed in. The floor layout was nice, the cabin was clean, the neighbor was friendly, the view was great, got to see lots of deer. The only thing negative I would say about it was there were no departure instructions like it noted in the VRBO information as to how the leave the bedding, the used towels, the trash. Our reason for booking the cabin was too attend the Jazz Festival and motorcycle Rally in Silver City. I would not advise anyone to take your motorcycle unless you have lots of experience the incline is pretty steep with loose gravel.

We arrived at the cabin in the early evening and were struck by how awesome the views are from the cabin. Looking out the sliding glass doors there are spectular mountain views. Then in the early morning and evening if you look out the front door or the kitchen window you can see a large herd of deer. The cabin in located in Gila National forest and there are many trails close by. We enjoyed being transported to a forest retreat but still located in the Southwest. This place is perfect to sit and enjoy the views while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Loved this place! Great place to just chill and have a quiet weekend- incredibly beautiful, serene surroundings.. deer frequently up close to the cabin. Cabin cozy and comfortable. Just a walk away from cabin we found some hieroglyphics! easy drive to Gila Cliff dwellings- a must see! as well as hot springs. Cool, funky Silver City just an hour away for great food, art and other sightings.
