The place is huge, it was cozy and the location was great. The kitchen is nicely equipped. The fireplace was great and so was the hot tub. The kids really enjoyed their stay, the rooms were very large and everyone had enough space; they especially loved the fact that the deer were super friendly. My only recommendation is that you bring board games/games for entertainment. The room to the right of the laundry room got a bit cold and is a bit loud due to the boiler right next to it. Other than that, the place was GREAT!

This cabin was perfect for our two families. A bedroom each for the adults and a bunk room large enough for all the teenagers. The open kitchen and large living room was a warm and spacious gathering place for all of us. The outdoor hot tub and the large deck just completed all we needed to enjoy this mountain retreat. Easy access to a convenient store, a short drive to Sky Apache and to Ruidoso.

We had a good time. The only bummer was the bunk room heater did not work. Our first night was very cold and it was hard to sleep. We opened the windows and let the sunlight in and ran the space heater all day, so the second night was much better. Overall it did not ruin the trip, but the first night was a bummer.

The house has a cozy charm right off the bat and is more impressive with each and every step. We held a women's retreat from our church and everyone was impressed with the charm and comfort of this home. There was plenty of room for socialization and yet enough space to "get away". The heard of elk that came through the property in the mornings was spectacular too. Everyone felt at home here and were able to truly take a "rest" from our everyday lives.

We stayed at this cabin for a 2 night mini family vacation and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The cabin is very clean, spacious and beautiful. There were 8 adults and 4 children and everyone had a bed. The deck is lovely and deer came every morning. By the second morning they were eating corn and apples out of our hands. The kids were amazed. We had a small issue with the hot tub the first night but Patty was extremely helpful and problem was resolved over the phone. Would recommend highly and will definitely go back.

We had a great time during our stay July 14 - 19, 2017. House was set up great! Lots of essentials in the kitchen. The reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because a few of the screens were either broken or not there at all. Therefore; we had a huge fly problem. We had to have them open for the air flow to keep house cool. But other than that, it was a great place to stay. Property Manager was extremely helpful and very prompt in answering any questions!

Large enough for a big family reunion and still cozy enough for an amazing time in the mountains. Highlight was the deer and wild horses. We will definitely be back. Everyone had the best time. Lots of memories on this trip. Thank you Patty!

We brought 6 friends who have never been in the Ruidoso area to ride our atv's/utv's. The cabin made us feel at home when we first walked in the door. After a long day of riding in the National forest the hot tub was a real treat. We brought corn to feed the dear and Patty told us about one that would take apple slices from your mouth. We found that there were 3 that would walk up to you and take apples from your hand. I was actually able to scratch one doe on her head and ears. The wild horses passed by as well.
With two pickups and two 16' trailers, parking was excellent! We parked them in the front so we could see all the deer come in the backyard. Patty was quick to answer any questions we had. We only had one major issue and that was having to leave. We will definitely choose Deer Country again!

Rented this property for my birthday, it had everything we could have ever needed. With 12 adults there was still room for more, the cabin has a great layout, and the hot tub was a relaxing touch. The local contact was incredible, keeping in great contact with us. Couldn't be happier.

The cabin was very clean and essentials were all available. We were worried about having enough pots and pans for a Thanksgiving dinner but all was available. Ms. Patty is a sweet lady and available to answer any questions. We enjoyed hiking and some of the shopping. This is our third visit and look forward to our next.

We were a group of 10, and we loved being able to cook at the cabin and leisurely enjoy family meals together.*This review was originally posted on AirBnb for a stay in Aug-16
Our stay was great! It would have been amazing but there were a few housekeeping items that were not up to par; Only a few can shower within a short period of time as the hot water ran out and there were twelve of us. An electrical short prevented us from using the microwave, so if you don't need a microwave this will not effect your stay. The oven did not have a consistent temperature, so we had to set on a lower temperature than what was required. Lots of dog hair everywhere on the carpet, and throw rugs, I guess due to the previous person who stayed and the housekeeper not cleaning properly. Twelve of us fit perfectly. We will return to this cabin in the future. The small housekeeping items will not prevent us from returning. *This review was originally posted on VRBO for a stay in Jan-16
We stayed at Deer Country during Spring Break. We had three generations in the cabin and there was so much space for everyone! The location is so close to the Ski Apache cut-off which made it convenient for skiing. We had everything we needed and so much space to be together for meals. The deer did not come every day but when they did, we were able to feed them out of our hands! It was awesome for our grandchildren! The hot tub was great at the end of a busy day. Although we used the grill, it was a little chilly to eat outside on the back deck but in the summer it would be a fabulous space to relax and share. Our only issue was the uncertainty of the WiFi and the television. We didn't need it much but when we did, it was inconsistent.

The cabin size and scenery were fabulous. It would have been perfect if they sprayed for spiders as we found a handful indoors. We had to go buy poison to spray during our stay. Another thing they don't stock the house with enough dish soap, toilet paper or trash bags. For as big of a cabin and how many guests it holds they should supply the house with plenty of toiletries. Also clorax spray to clean counter tops in kotchen. Other than that we enjoyed the stay and the company of horses and deers.

Manager's Response: Thank you for the review! We are sorry to hear about the handful of spiders you found in the home. The cabin is in a woodsy area so there will be spiders, but we have passed along the information that you sprayed for spiders during your stay as that is not the vacationers duty! We have also passed along your feedback on providing more toiletries for guests. We appreciate these helpful suggestions and thank you for your stay with us! -The Evolve Team
What a wonderful place to stay, our family truly did enjoy the quiet and comfortable cabin. We definitely will be coming back again.

This cabin was absolutely perfect. It was the perfect size for Our family of 11. It was clean and felt like a home away from home. The hot tub was fabulous! The kids truly enjoyed the deer in the mornings and evenings! We can't wait for our next trip to Deer Country!

It was comfortable plenty of room for everyone, loved the wildlife surrounding property and the view. We will definitely return to this cabin.
Our family (3 adults and 6 kids ages 2 -17) spent four nights at the Deer Country Cabin and we loved it! The neighborhood is beautiful and we had a great view of the snow-capped mountains from the front of the property. Shortly after we arrived the first day we were greeted by a group of at least a dozen deer - very cool experience since none of had ever seen a deer up close! The second day we offered them bread a crackers and they walked right up to the front porch and ate out of our hands. The cabin is cozy and inviting and great for a relaxing family vacation. The kitchen was stocked with necessities (dishes, utensils, cookware, coffeemaker, etc) but we did have to make a run to Walmart the first night for things like dish soap, extra toilet paper, clothes detergent and pantry essentials that were not provided. We used the washer and dryer nearly every night to clean our ski clothes and both worked perfectly. The beds were all very comfortable and our kids LOVED the kids room with bunk beds. I think our only disappointment was that the foosball shown in the photos was not there. The hot tub was used several times during our stay and was bigger/newer than the one that appears in the photos and was big enough for eight of us to fit in it. The showerhead in the master bedroom could use a little work but overall was adequate. The property is only about 5 minutes from the Winter Tubing area and about a 30 minute drive to Ski Apache. Although there are some minor issues in the house that could use attention, overall the cabin provided a wonderful "home away from home" for us and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a large comfortable home to stay in during their visit to the Ruidoso area!

First the good: Spacious cabin, very clean. Great view from the front porch. Virtually unobstructed view of mountains to the west. Parking very good, lots of room and you can pull right up to the front door. Bed (master only one used) very comfortable. Very quiet location, no traffic at any time of the day. Things needing attention: The oven in the kitchen does not work and has not since at least May. The gas grill on the back deck is in very poor condition. Lighter does not work, oven handle comes off in your hand. Needs lots of repair or replacement. Front screen does not close properly, caused a fly problem. Street names have been recently changed, caused some confusion in finding place. No instructions in cabin as to trash disposal, etc. No bath mats in bathrooms. Lot around cabin needs cleaning up, a discarded hot tub is in the back yard and various other discarded items are laying around the lot. Detracts from the ambiance and appearance of the cabin.
