We've stayed in a lot of rental vacation homes, but this was one of the best. The cabin was in great shape, wonderfully furnished (even good cookware!) and in an outstanding location. The surroundings were beautiful and access to the various Red River Gorge activities was super convenient. HIGHLY recommended.

booked this trip for my wife, two adult children and their significant others. From the moment we booked months ago to the moment we locked the door to leave the Cabin (it's much more than a cabin), the experience was wonderful. The setting the home, amenities, the fireplace on the deck, shuffle board, babbling brook, and the sounds of nature were a perfect place for us to get family time. We took the quick trip to the Natural Bridge State Park and that was amazing to hike or take the chairlift if you prefer. We also took a 80 minute drive for a couple bourbon distillery visits. Even if you are not a bourbon fan its amazing. We also took a drive to Churchill Downs for a tour and also saw a races which was a good take (it is a 2+ hour drive) but it was family time. But the trips paled in comparison to the time together on the deck of the cabin. Great setting, great fun. Thank you.

Beautiful Area. Home in need of a few improvements

My husband and I, along with 4 friends, recently returned from staying at Lakewood Cabin for a long weekend. It was our first time to the Red River Gorge area, and the location was beautiful. The cabins are situated within the neighborhood in such a way that they each have a nice amount of privacy. They are within close proximity to the major Red River Gorge sights. We enjoyed a hike and a trip to the Natural Bridge State Park. It is also within an hour or so from the beginning of the Bourbon Trail, which we also took time to visit one day. The directions for arriving to the property, and for check-in, were excellent. Clear and concise. Communication with Dale and Katy were also excellent, and responses were fast! The home was stocked with nice pots and pans which we enjoyed using as we cooked our dinners each night. The home was clean and ready for our arrival. Some of what drew our group to this area, and this home, was the location and also the amenities. The outdoor wood burning fireplace was a draw, and with nicer weather, the upper deck would be a great place for eating outside as the house has a very nice patio set. We wanted a house with a hot tub and with a pool table. The hot tub got a lot of use during our visit, and the pool table was in excellent condition! We really looked forward to playing shuffleboard, however the shuffleboard table had no sand in it, and all the pucks were in very bad shape, rusted and warped from weather, as was the wood table itself. Though our stay was good overall, we did leave noting a few things. The upstairs had two bedrooms, one of which was very difficult to regulate the temperature of. It was freezing while the rest of the house was very warm. We needed to add 2 blankets over the comforter just to stay warm during the night. The bathroom upstairs is in need of a few repairs, such as the glass shower door hanging poorly on the hinges causing a lot of noise, the trim around the shower being in bad shape from water damage. Downstairs, the lighting over the pool table did not work at all. With a little TLC, this home could be more inviting if we were to come back to the area again. We greatly appreciated Dale's and Katy's prompt response to questions, and doing their best to resolve issues quickly when they did arise.

We rented the cabin for a group get away. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time, but the accommodations and cabin comforts made the entire trip enjoyable. The outdoor fireplace on the top deck over looking the stream in the back made for a relaxing and memorable experience.

Overall a pretty nice place to stay. I thought the cleaning fees were high since we had to do most of the cleanup. I also didn't think that we should have to pay for wood for the fireplace. Already paid over $800 just for 2 days.

Manager's Response: Thank you for this feedback, we are glad you overall enjoyed your stay. The cleaning fee the homeowner charges is standard for this kind of vacation rental, as it covers the cost of getting the home cleaned and ready for each booking. As for the firewood, the homeowner personally gets a large load of fatwood and delivers it directly to the home, so the fee for that is to cover the cost of the wood that the homeowner is providing. We do apologize that you were disappointed by the cleaning fee and hope you enjoyed this home nonetheless.

My family and I just recently stayed over Labor Day weekend at Lakewood Cabin. Katy was excellent to work with. She spoke personally with my husband on multiple occasions to make sure we had all the information we needed for our upcoming trip, as well as and to answer any questions that we may have had. Great customer service! Upon arriving the cabin was pristine and well stocked with all the amenities we needed. We had a great time playing pool and shuffle board, the hot tub sat right outside the bottom level, right outside the rec room door and was covered which was very nice. The location was very convenient to all the attractions we wanted to visit. We will definitely we staying at Lakewood again
