    Excellent home for large group

My wife and some family stayed here for a couple days while visiting Kanab. This house is amazing; very spacious, everything you could ask for, and located in an extremely quiet neighborhood. The owners stocked the house with every appliance, dish, and silverware you could think of. The grill isn't too shabby either. The listing states the owners live on site, but you wouldn't even know. We didn't hear a word from them the entire time we were there. Definitely would stay here again.

Perfect Home Base for Nat’l Parks

    Reviewed by: Todd A. on

This place looks exactly like (or better) than the pics. My wife and I stayed here with our two grade school boys for a week in early August. We took day trips to Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon North Rim, Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon, etc., and also roamed around Kanab and the surrounding areas. It was SO CONVENIENT to not have to move around from hotel to hotel, and especially nice to come “home” in the evenings and cook (if we didn’t eat at one of the many great restaurants within 5 minutes of the house that we tried), and get a good shower after dusty hikes. Our boys actually asked to go home just to hang out, and we even spent a day or two taking a break from the hikes and just hanging around the house and the Kanab area. The attention to detail in the construction of the home and the appointments inside of it (appliances, fixtures, furnishings, beds, etc.) was impeccable. The owners have been working on it for just a few years, so it’s basically brand new, and it shows. It was spotless, literally, and anything you might need in terms of towels and even soap, TP, Kleenex, coffee was provided. Our hosts were extremely gracious and easy to communicate with. We did have some reluctance thinking it might be sorta weird that they are often on property (meaning they live in the basement when they have guests), but regrettably we never actually saw them or even heard them until we met Wendy on our way out. Their living quarters are entirely separate and closed off and they were quite respectful, so that turned out great. This is a wonderful place for a family, even just one family, due to its central location and the fact it was as cheap as a single decent hotel room, and certainly far less expensive than two hotel rooms. There’s only one master and one bunk room, plus a loft, so keep that in mind, but if people don’t mind using a couch or an air mattress it would easily accommodate more than one family. That being said, this is NOT a party house or a bunk house for a bunch of college folks or party people, and frankly when you step inside this place you’d feel bad for disrespecting it. An absolute gem of a place with wonderful owners, just can’t say enough about it. We want to go back to the same parks again just to stay in this place! Don’t hesitate to book this one if you can get it, absolutely amazing!!!

We stayed here for three nights as part of our "Out West" vacation and loved every minute of it! The house was adorable and impeccably clean. We had plenty of room to move and play outside and it is in the perfect location to base oneself to explore Zion, Bryce, Antelope, etc. The owners were very accessible and helpful. Even though they lived in the basement, we never saw them or heard them, yet they were very speedy to answer any question that we had. They even contacted us when they found our daughter's missing cross necklace and mailed it back to us! We will definitely stay here if we return to this region and highly recommend it to travelers!

Visiting North Rim Grand Canyon and surrounding area? You won't find a nicer place any closer to the Grand Canyon - there just isn't much around except Kanab. The house is truly as refreshing as the pictures show. It is absolutely stunning, with first class everything. It suited our family well, 3 adults and 4 kids. One room contains two bunk beds, accommodating the kids nicely. A teenager took the upstairs loft area. The spacious house has plenty of room to utilize the provided air mattress.

Prior to arriving, we texted directly with the owner directly and he was very considerate.

We also enjoyed the town of Kanab - there is a hiking trail (near the town swimming pool) that provided a very enjoyable evening hike. After we finished hiking in the Grand Canyon, we took some day trips to other sites in the area. Stayed in June 2019.

My wife and I spent a night in Kanab on our honeymoon trip to Vegas several years ago. We fell in love with Kanab and now come back a few times every year. The beauty of the desert, with the rich palette of vivid colors accented by setting or rising rays, has a captivating effect on the spirit. With all the beauty and wonder of nature amply available in Southern Utah, Kanab is perfectly nestled at the heart of it all.

Tucked away from the busy interstate, but still easy to access, Kanab is a hidden gem we cherish visiting. Highlighting the wholesome, small-town-America feel are the small western shops, the vintage single-screen movie theater, and live music gigs at locally owned restaurants. The charm of the small, cozy town is perfectly juxtaposed with the vast grandeur of the red rock cliffs and azure skies. A trail head just a mile or two from this house ushers one of my wife’s and my favorite hikes. And all of this just a short drive from sand dunes, a large recreational lake, evergreen covered mountains, world class golf courses, and the Grand Canyon.

Having made several trips to Kanab, we have stayed at a variety of locations (camper trailers, hotels, and rental homes) before, but this new “cabin” is by far our favorite stay! There is something quintessential about a vacation to the historic West captured in a rustic cabin. Yet this home is amazingly balanced with the “old tyme” feel emanating from the stacked and calked logs, the wagon wheel chandelier, and rope accents with the luxurious interior of modern convenience. I found myself staring up at the vaulted ceilings, appreciating the tongue and groove work blanketing the sharp angles of the roof’s different pitches, only to have my eyes naturally gravitate back to the picturesque view framed by the floor-to-ceiling columns of windows. The high desert climate of Kanab moderates the extremes of both summer and winter while embracing the beauty of all four seasons, and the expansive deck encourages an intimate conversation under the night’s desert air any time of year. Having experienced this combination of modern convenience with historic essence, any future vacation to Southern Utah that is spent in a hotel or “regular” home will feel incomplete.

My wife covets the kitchen, with its premier cabinetry, spacious granite counters, and sleek modern appliances. My personal favorite quality of the home is the two-story rock fireplace in the great room, posing a keystone of the floorplan centered in the open area as opposed to being tucked away in an obscure corner. We both loved the master bath with the pebbled floor of the dual shower. My only regret is that we never tried the copper tub, as the shower was too enticing.

We definitely would recommend this home to anyone considering a visit to Kanab, and will be sure to stay again on future visits. My only complaint is the location; it’s too far away from my home in Montana to visit more often!
