    Great location; not much sleep

    Reviewed by: Neely M. on

We loved staying in the historic neighborhood of Lincolnville and had a great weekend in St. Augustine attending a concert, dining out and shopping. Ice Plant, Collage, Blue Hen and Rose Dog Brewing were all highlights. However, on Saturday night, from 3:00-4:45 a.m. there was an unbelievable amount of noise. Since we were friendly with the top floor guests we knew it wasn't them as we spoke to them the following morning. This only leaves the possibility of downstairs in the restaurant. It was as if large furniture was being moved around; perhaps a cleaning crew? It was impossible to sleep. I sent a message to the manager after our stay just to alert them to the issue (I did not want any refund or any other arrangement; just wanted to bring it to her attention) and I never received a response. The place itself was nice, the furniture is pretty dated and the place is screaming for some artwork or personality on the walls, but it was comfortable overall.

    Manager's Response:
Neely, we're glad you enjoyed this apartment in this historic neighborhood overall. While noise from neighbors is out of our control, we are very sorry this negatively impacted your stay. The homeowner was not aware of the situation and would have been happy to address these concerns. They prioritize the guest experience, and here at Evolve, we have a team dedicated to helping travelers 7 days a week. Thank you for your feedback. Best, the Evolve Team

My husband and I took a weekend getaway and felt right at home at this adorable apartment. It was sparkling clean and comfortable space, had a cute balcony that overlooked the coming and going of the people downstairs. The restaurant downstairs is also fantastic, we had brunch! We used a phone app with white noise to drown out morning noise of the restaurant. No smell from downstairs. Would definitely return!!

Comfortable apartment over an excellent restaurant.

This well thought out one bedroom apartment is in a great location for people watching. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony over the restaurant watching folks come and go on Bridge Street. We would give this a 5-star rating except for some small details. But as they say it's the little things that count. The rooms are a little Stark, and could use some colorful art to balance out the white and Gray's that predominant. On first entering the apartment we noticed an odor that seem to be comprised of equal parts of paint in possibly cat urine. Opening the windows in the door to the porch solve that problem, but we noticed there were no screens on the windows. While there were no insects to Annoy Us, it would seem logical to put screens up. A box of facial tissue would have been handy, we solved the problem with one from our car. The owners could save a few pennies by adding the plastic refillable Keurig cups so that guests could use their own coffee rather than the prepackaged coffee that was available. The coffee provided was good, but we ran out. My wife and I are serious coffee drinkers. While that's not part of the apartment rental, the restaurant below the Preserved, is very very good. We recommend it. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay. The unit was scrupulously clean, the bed was very comfortable and while we didn't do any food preparation the kitchen is complete. We are looking forward to returning and staying longer next time. St. Augustine is a wonderful place to visit and this apartment is a great place to stay.

Bright beautiful apartment convenient to a lot of places to see. Noise from restaurant and other apartments is bothersome but did not ruin out stay. The shower head pressure needs to be addressed. It was next to impossible to rinse the shampoo from my hair with the low water flow. The towels we used need to be replaced. Shabby and stained. These are just tips for the owners/managers. I highly recommend this apartment as a place to stay.

My wife and I stayed at the condo for Mother's Day weekend and we couldn't have been happier with the cleanliness, quality of furnishings, and especially the location. Falina, the property manager, also worked with me ahead of time to surprise my wife with flowers, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries upon our arrival. The location of the condo is absolutely perfect, as it's not right in the main touristy area, but within walking distance of all of the main attractions in town. In addition to that, we loved breakfast at the Blue Hen, drinks at the Ice Plant, and lunch at the Crave food truck (all within 5 minutes). St. Augustine is a great town to visit and this place is a perfect spot to take it all in.

The location of the apartment allowed for walking to all areas that we wanted to visit. We felt safe in the apartment and in the surrounding area. With the exception of a trip to the grocery store the car remained parking in the designated spot. We were pleasantly surprised that once in the apartment the smell of food being prepared in the restaurant below was not noticeable. Noise from clean up after the restaurant closed and set up for Sunday brunch took some getting used to but would not prevent us from choosing this same location again should the opportunity present itself.

We could not have asked for a lovelier place or nicer property manager. Our instructions were perfectly clear. The parking space was great, as was the location. As others before us have said, we could hear the restaurant downstairs when we went to bed but we simply turned on a white noise app and eliminated that. Friends dropped in for a few minutes and also thought it was beautiful.

If you want to see St. Augustine from a residents perspective, then you definitely want to stay at the Jefferson House. Just blocks away from Flagler College and only a 10 minute walk from downtown St. Augustine, the Jefferson House is situated in the perfect spot to be able to walk to wherever you'd like to go, while taking in the rich history of this fabulous city. Situated over the top of a truly unique farm to table restaurant called Preserved, and furnished with all the comforts of home, it perfectly met all of our needs. It's spacious, clean, comfortable and private, while having all the charm you would expect from a building of this age. Although the apartment was small, the use of square footage was genius creating a very spacious feel. With seven windows in our unit, each on offered a different perspective of the beautiful grounds below and tree line street and houses below. The only problem with our stay is that we couldn't stay longer - just loved everything about this place. We can't wait to come back and we already know where we will stay. Vickie and Dave

    Historic Home in Historic Neighborhood

    Reviewed by: Shaun M. on

This apartment is well maintained and has a great porch from which to relax and check out the neighborhood. It's located at the edge of Historic Lincolnville and is within easy walking distance of downtown St. Augustine and other attractions such as the St. Augustine Distillery (take the tour!). Recommend making reservations downstairs at Preserved at least one night, and order whatever they have for the special. Reserved parking makes just leaving your car for the weekend a breeze. To address the few negative comments, the restaurant can be noisy, mostly when they are moving chairs around on the restaurant's wrap around porch, primarily around open and closing. But unless you are keeping some odd hours it is not especially bothersome. The cleaning fee IS a bit steep, considering the instructions pretty much require doing much of it yourself upon checkout (check in and check out is extremely easy). Two minor things to note: no ice cube maker, so bring your own, and watch your step getting out of the shower; it's a bit of a drop.

The apartment was very spacious very nicely decorated. (Not too much clutter). The porch was a nice spot to hang out and relax after a long day walking around or going to the beach. This unit is in a great location so you can walk downtown without too much of a hike (maybe 5 to 10 min) also a short drive over the bridge to the many beaches (15 to 20 min). Property manager is great as well anytime we had a question or concern she answered back very quickly. We would definitely stay here on our next trip back.
