Resting at 7,400 feet of elevation, this Larkspur suite serves as the perfect place to explore Colorado's mountainous terrain!

    THE PROPERTY

Bedroom 1 (The Log Room): Queen Bed | Bedroom 2 (The Antique Room): Full Bed | Rec Room: Sleeper Sofa

'El Hacienda; is a Spanish-style mountain home, with rustic timbers and a brown stucco finish. Situated in a secluded, serene Colorado mountain setting located on over 35 acres of combined hillside, valley, and treed areas, this home ensures a relaxing getaway.

A half mile paved driveway winds its way up the hillside to the home, resting at 7,400 feet in elevation and nestled at the edge of a 4-acre wooded tree line complete with a tree house and tree swings for the young and not-so young ones.

Upon arrival, you'll park on a paved lot and then follow the timber and paver walkway around the upper level to the full walkout basement suite. A 17-foot by 20-foot timber and paver patio is perfect for early morning coffee, a late afternoon siesta, or for a relaxing drink or bite to eat in the evening. A dedicated gas grill, patio furniture, and two hammocks make it the perfect relaxing getaway from your getaway.

Additional outdoor amenities include 2 fire pits stocked with wood, several serene bench-seat sitting areas, basketball hoops, horse shoe pits, corn-hole and washer board games.

Last year, the construction of a livestock and fishing pond began. Once completed, the pond will be stocked with trout and other mountain climate suitable fish for guests' enjoyment. Construction of an on-site Cantina, to be located on the upper level and available on a scheduled basis, is soon to be underway. This will provide a quaint and cozy place to get away for a refreshing drink at the end of the day or if snowed in with no place to go.

Upon entering the suite, you'll walk into the 2-foot by 30-foot Rec Room with comfortable La-Z-Boy sectional sofa. All of your entertainment needs are taken care of with a 55-inch HD TV, gaming console, and stereo system.

A cast-iron gas stove is situated in the corner of the room to take the chill off of a cold day. For inside entertainment, there are also full size foosball and shuffleboard tables, and a wide selection of board games ranging from small children, to teenage and even family games. If you just can't leave your daily workout routine behind, there's also a workout area with gym grade Reebok treadmill, Ignite recumbent bike, and a dial up Bowflex dumbell system.

The rest of the suite features a well-equipped kitchen with all new appliances, 2 bedrooms with flat-screen TVs, and a full bathroom with shower.

If you have a large group or special needs, access to the owner's full kitchen, formal dining room, and great room can be arranged at an additional cost and on a case-by-case basis. Other event options at the property include the offering as a wedding and/or reception site, business or spiritual retreats, etc.

    THE LOCATION

'El Hacienda' is located less than three miles from historic Palmer Lake and several restaurants, pubs, other small businesses, and a post office. It also has a trout-stocked lake great for fishing and other water activities. Thousands come from all over to watch the 4th of July fireworks show over the water, which you can enjoy if you're in town during the summer.

Drive another three miles south to Monument, where you'll find grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, automotive shops, and a quaint shopping district. Once again, 4th of July is celebrated greatly here, with the small town parade, dozens of food and vendors, and even concerts and a beer garden in the park.

If golf is your game, then you're in the perfect location! The following courses range from 6 to 17 miles away: Kings Deere Country Club, Monument Hill Country Club, Perry Park Country Club, Golf Club at Bear Dance, Air Force Academy Blue and Silver Courses, and Pine Creek Golf Club. All courses are open to the public but establishing a tee time is recommended.

Go less than 10 more miles to reach the north side of Colorado Springs and nearly every amenity that any big city has, but with a small town atmosphere. Attend the world renowned Pike's Peak or Bust Rodeo, the USAFA and all events from track and field, to soccer, rugby, basketball and football. Colorado Springs is also home the Denver Rockies farm league, The Sky Sox. Scenic drives and hiking are also available through the Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs Cliff Dwellings, and hundreds of other activities.

If you're seeking the big city fair, head north to Denver, a mere 40 miles away. Along your journey, the first place you'll pass through six miles away is Larkpsur. It has a great family park and baseball complex, a few watering holes and a pizzeria. If you're around, don't miss the fresh walleye fish fry every Friday night at the Larkspur Pizzeria. You also won't want to miss out on a day (or two) of fun at the Colorado Renaissance Festival if passing through in July or August.

At the 17-mile point of your trip, you'll find beautiful and historic Castle Rock. Castle Rock is home to the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo, which is great family fun. The city also hosts dozens of car shows, live music events, and more entertainment, along with wonderful dining, pubs, coffee shops, and quaint shopping stores.

Journey 23 miles further north and you'll be in the great Mile High City of Denver. Denver has everything, from all the major pro sport teams and associated events, to theater, performing arts, incredible restaurants and pubs. You won't want to miss making reservations at The Buckhorn Exchange, Colorado's oldest restaurant and bar. It has Colorado liquor license Number One prominently displayed and has been operating out of the same location since 1893, serving prime grade steaks and wild game. The likes of "Buffalo Bill" Cody, several Indian chiefs, many US Presidents, and even foreign royalty have dined here.

Great 2 bedroom with pull out bed in coach, lots of inside and outdoor games for kids of all ages. Kitchen had full refrigerator, hot stove to cook on, coffee pot, untensils, microwave, crockpot everything you need. Freezer had ice trays, I packed a lot of stuff not knowing what I would need. It said kitchen but I?ve stayed in someplace that really didn?t have a full kitchen. Rooms are great nice decor in the whole house. CS was about 25 min drive. But Safeway gro. If needed was a lot closer. I will come back in the summer to see all the beautiful surrounding on the property. Owner lives in property and was very helpful on places to go. Rod let us fed his horses and have a walk around his property with no issues. My boys climb the mountain behind the property and had a great view of sunset. Took them about an hour to climb because the stop a few times just to hang out. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Description and pictures of the property is misleading. The description says the homeowner might be present, be forewarned, they live on property and are always there. The pictures of the amenities are misleading as well, if you want the full kitchen with stove to cook and prepare meals, you have to pay extra for access to their private. The hot tub is on the home owners? private deck and fully visible from their windows at all time for them to watch you as you relax; we did not use the hot tub due to the uneasy feeling of potentially being watched. The first thing noticeable upon entry is the dirty and stained white carpeting. The long pathway with stairs leading down to the basement apartment is not well lit at night and somewhat dangerous at night. The apartment does not have air conditioning or was not on while we were there and our stay was uncomfortably warm. We tried opening the windows for some ventilation, but since you are below ground, there is no air movement. The residents have a door leading to their living quarter, although lockable, they can hear everything that goes on in the apartment. During our stay, we were awoken every morning around 6:30am from the noise of the family above starting their daily routine and their dogs barking and running about. The first time we entered the apartment, we noticed a dead beetle on the kitchen floor approx. the size of a quarter. Later the evening we saw a large rat run across the kitchen floor and scurry into a closet in the kitchen, later towards the end of our stay, we began to smell a foul odor coming from that same closet. The family the lives on the property are super nice people and extremely friendly, but I felt they were a little intrusive by constantly wanting to talk and know about our adventures for us. We were expecting a private getaway vacation for some much needed alone time. Please don't misunderstand, it?s a beautiful home on a beautiful piece of property, it?s just not what we were expecting from the description online while booking.

Our family of six (with two teens a grade schooler and a preschooler) just LOVED El Hacienda. This little gem of a place is wonderful for those who love all that Colorado has to offer. It is located not far off I 25, tucked into the most gorgeous Colorado scenery you can imagine, with horse pasture, rolling foothills, stands of timber and mountains in the distance. We were looking for a place to stay that is near enough to Denver to go into the city for a Broncos game and other activities but that provided a mountain getaway. El Hacienda did not disappoint. It was in fact better than we imagined. There was so much available on property that we changed our agenda specifically to spend more time at El Hacienda. Tree fort, hiking, woods to explore, secluded benches and swings with amazing views, hot tub, foosball, board games, Nintendo Wii, horseshoes, and the list goes on and on. What they didn't have was a cell signal, at least in the house (Verizon). Although we didn't expect this (and service was available at certain places on property) we found that it actually helped us relax and enjoy our vacation. I should mention they do have Wi-Fi. We used this getaway as a launching point to pikes Peak and the Colorado springs area for day outings. Also, as mentioned before most locations in the Denver metropolitan area were within an hour or less drive. I highly recommend this property for your Colorado vacation.

Our stay was in June of 2017. We were late planning our trip but ran into a gem with this property. As mentioned in the listing, the home is north of Colorado Springs so we had at least a 30 minute drive every day to get to the various things to do in the area; however, it was very worth the trip. Rod was an incredible host. We had a few glitches with technology and Rod made fixing these glitches important. He was extremely accommodating and made our stay so much better. Like another reviewer, we didn't have enough time to take advantage of all of the amenities offered at El Hacienda. If you simply want a place away from the hustle and bustle to relax for a weekend or longer, there is more than enough on site to make your stay enjoyable.

These aren't complaints but just a few pointers if you plan to stay for an extended period of time. We probably cook more than most so we gave the kitchen a workout. The kitchen doesn't have a standard range/stovetop set up. It is equipped with a single unit microwave/convention oven mounted to the wall as well as countertop double-burner range. We had to be a bit creative in how we cooked things but it went well. Rod graciously supplied us with a crockpot on request. There's also limited storage space in the kitchen if you bring a lot of non-perishable items. Most of the drawers and cabinets are devoted to cookware and other supplies. We ended up putting some things under the sink or leaving them in bags. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of. Finally, the freezer doesn't have an ice machine so you'll need to bring your own ice or hope your consumption doesn't outpace how much you can make using the ice trays.

Regardless, El Hacienda was a great place for my family and we truly enjoyed everything. Our stay was amazing and we highly recommend it for anyone who doesn't mind a little bit of a drive.

This home far exceeded our expectations. First, it is huge. Two master sized bedrooms, and a fantastic great room with games and even a mini gym, and of course all the electronics you could want. The kitchen is small, but more than adequate for most short stays. Our only regret is we did not have time to use more of the property and offered facilities. There was a hot tub and multiple fire-pits, private decks and many usable areas on this ranch.Rod was a wonderful host and very accommodating. We highly recommend this property.
