  • Nice area, old house

    4/5

Easy to find, easy to get to attractions, do day trips (Cheyenne mountain zoo, royal gorge, Rockies) nice and quiet neighborhood, lots of wildlife. Please note that house is old and has its limitations. No dishwasher, only window ac’s up stairs. We didn’t use the shower downstairs after reviewing owners “instructions” on use as we didn’t want to leave a water ballet in the bathroom. Recommend owner to put some effort in renovating it. Would love to stay here again but not at the price we paid for.

  • The poorest vacation house I ever had

    1/5

This house is horrible! Do not be fooled by the pictures posted on the website. The pictures seem to show that this house is spacious, bright and clean. But in reality, it is very dated, broken, dark and unsafe. We booked 4 nights that cost over $1000. When I checked in, the house was simply much worse than the pictures suggest: 1) This house does not have a dishwasher. 2) The washer and dryer were there. But a note was placed on the washer saying "Sorry for any inconvenience but wash machine is out of order. Thank you". 3) There is no central AC. Window AC were in two bedrooms, which were so loud to sleep and the window AC in the smaller upstairs bedroom was very close to the bed and blows (cold) air directly towards people sleeping on the bed. 4) Multiple windows were rotted, not able to open or lock, and one window was broken. 5) Neither downstairs shower nor upstairs shower worked. I had to use a cup to fill with tap water to bath my 3 year old child. 6) Neither shampoo nor body wash was provided but I did find a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. 7) Beds were squeaky and tall and not child suitable. 8) house was not clean and I saw two spiders, dirty spots, debris and even a hand scraper on one of the windows. 9) There were "bandage" messages throughout the house about all the caveats about furniture, appliance, shower and ventilation. The house was simply not customer ready and far from being a "vacation rental". I contacted Evolve the night my family arrived and submitted 7 emails of photos and videos as evidence that the property was not in good condition. My family moved out of the property the next morning and Evolve relocated us to another vacation rental in CO Springs. Unfortunately, even though my family stayed only one night, that night was difficult for us. My 3-year old child fell off the tall and non-child friendly bed at midnight with face down. Bloody nose and screaming that night and swollen lower half of face the next 2~3 days. This was the worst vacation rental my family ever had and everyone was very upset.

  • Cold, creaky, rickety, dark, dim, depressing, neglected, drafty, horrible

    2/5

I did not enjoy staying here. I was here with my mother in law, wife and 4 kids for a conference at the Broadmoor. The house is bad and neglected. It is cold and drafty. The fireplace is blocked off by the owners, despite what it says on the listing. The floors creek very loudly and wakes up half the house if anyone uses the bathroom in the middle of the night. The kitchen doors and cabinets squeak like a railyard. The doors have holes in them! Forget your privacy. The master bedroom has a full size mattress, which is not big enough for a couple. I slept apart from my wife for a week! The plaster is peeling off the walls in the stairwell. We needed to extend our stay and it took weeks for the owner to confirm. The entry way is dark and depressing. The lighting is dim and sad. The salt and pepper shakers are the only decorations and they are empty. There weren't enough blankets in this cold freezing horrible house and I spent many nights freezing on the couch. The place was bad and cold and dark and ugly and loud and creaky and rickety and horrible. I hated it, my back hated it, my family hated it. The one good thing about this place is that it had toilet paper.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Bryce, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you! The homeowner would like to share the following:
    - Thank you for letting us know of the fireplace listing inaccuracy. Because of the liability, our insurance company does not allow us to make the fireplace available to guests so we've corrected this in the listing.
    - Like most of the houses in the Cheyenne Canyon area, ours is over 100 years old. While we have updated the electrical and plumbing, we chose to preserve some of the features we felt lent character to the house.
    - We're not aware of any holes in any of the doors. Each room has a close-able door that affords guests their own privacy.
    - Each of the bed sizes is accurately depicted on the listing and we encourage guests to thoroughly review this before booking to ensure that the home works well for their needs. We're sorry to hear that you were uncomfortable.
    - The house can be a bit drafty, but guests are welcome to turn up the thermostats, which we keep low when the house is unoccupied. We also have provided extra blankets in the closet in the downstairs bedroom.
    - We also have an excellent 24-hour local management company that is very responsive to our guests' needs. They could have assisted with the heating issues had they been contacted. Their contact information was sent in an email to your prior to checking in and is also posted clearly on the front of the welcome book.
We apologize for any delay with extending your stay but we're glad to have been able to complete this request for you. We look forward to hosting many satisfied guests!
