Clean and comfortable....and what a view

It was clean and comfortable (a little dated), and had everything weneeded. The people were very nice, and we felt safe and welcomed. The viewfrom the back deck was amazing and peaceful. There is a trailer park nextdoor, so it isn't fancy, but everyone there was very sweet to us, andneighborly. We would rent this house again.

5 feet from 2 abandoned and boarded up cottages, next to an abandoned restaurant and hotel, with horrible access to waterfront

I would strongly recommend not going to this rental until they do some work to fix it up and the area around it. It's definitely not worth the price they are charging. We left, and they did refund most of our money.

    Managers Response:
Brenda, we're sorry that your stay fell short of your expectations. We price our listings strategically and competitively based on several factors including location, time of year, and events in the area. We hope that the generous measures that the homeowners went to make things right was an agreeable solution. However, we hope you enjoyed the great location! Best, the Evolve Team

    A great value

    Comment:

Good value for the price. Great if your traveling with pets, as there's lots of room to walk outside and room to move around inside. Basic kitchen supplies, but on the sparse side. Internet strength was up and down, so not a place you could work remotely, which might be a good thing.

Worked for us but could use a little thought...

We enjoyed our stay here and the view was beautiful. Please note this rental sleeps 7 but is not equipped for 7 people. Not enough towels, plates, bowls or blankets. No dishwasher (which is fine) but the water pressure was very low in the kitchen and there was nothing to scrub the dishes with. Location was beautiful, but the neighborhood was sketchy. Just a few upgrades would make this a 5 star rental.

This rental was very peaceful, great view of the river mouth into the ocean and clean. The rental is a bit outdated but is fine for a trip with the family. We enjoyed our stay and would likely stay again. The staff at the front desk was friendly and quick for check in. Nice trail to the beach and close to Crescent City and Brookings.

This place is something we would pass up if given the option to do it over. It is very expensive for what it is and the surrounds are completely run down. The view was the best part by far.

    Manager's Response:
Daniel, we're sorry to hear your stay didn't meet your expectations. We carefully set competitive rates for each property after a thorough analysis of the property itself and the surrounding area. Additionally, we provide photos of the property and note the general location in the listing so guests have an idea of what to expect. Thanks for sharing your feedback! Best, the Evolve Team

The people who manage this rental are very nice to deal with; communication was great. The beds are comfortable. However, there are some issues you should inquire about before renting. Has the refrigerator been replaced? Has the cookware been replaced, and are there now more utensils and knives other than steak knives? This house is near the mouth of the river with the ocean just visible past the other side of the river, not really oceanfront.

    Manager's Response:
Hi Sheryl, We are happy to hear that you had such a positive experience traveling with us! The cabin is located directly on a Pacific estuary and is just 400 yards away from the ocean itself. The homeowner appreciates your feedback and has personally confirmed that there is cookware, mixing bowls, and flatware and utensils in the kitchen. They have also replaced the refrigerator since your stay. Thank you for your review, and we look forward to traveling with you again soon! Best, the Evolve Team

    Evolve handled the situation well

Upon arriving at the property we immediately noticed it was located in an RV resort, which was not disclosed on the description. This turned out to be the least of our problems regarding the property. Upon pulling into the driveway we immediately noticed that the houses on either side were completely overgrown with vines and looked condemned and were frankly pretty creepy. Once inside we were greeted by a large sign in the kitchen telling us the property had an ant infestation! Also in the kitchen there was a leak under the sink, stained linoleum and a greasy grimy stove top. In the living area there was a rug in front of the sliding door, which when moved showed carpet that was ripped and missing down to the floor boards. The bathroom.had a rusted and broken medicine cabinet and under the sink a ton of dead ants! In the bedrooms we found layers of dust, mildew and dirt behind the night stands, more ripped carpet, rusted blinds and the final straw was what we believed to be bed bugs. By the time we made the final discovery it was after evolve had closed for the day so we decided to leave and head to a hotel with our 4 kids and call them again in the morning. When we reached out to them they were great! They asked us to email photos of all the issues and that we would go from there and less than 2 days later we received an email saying our money was being refunded! So while the property itself was disgusting and I would stay far away from it we were totally happy with the way e evolve handled it!

    Manager's Response:
Dz, we're sorry to hear your stay wasn't what you expected. We take feedback seriously and have shared your comments with the homeowner. They are in the process of renovating the cabin to be equipped with new flooring, blinds, bathroom mirrors, bathrooms fans, and mattresses. This cabin is completely over represented. First, let me explain that we ARE NOT the types of people to leave negative reviews. We've even been known to stay in questionable places in an effort to save a dollar or two. However, when we arrived at this property, it was evident that it had been completely misrepresented. When you drive up, you drive through an old, run down mobile home park. Once you arrive, you find the cabin to be tucked between a couple of old cabins that appear to be condemned. Upon entry, you find a run down, dingy cabin that has a musty, damp feel/smell to it. The carpet is gone in places, the water pressure is better coming out of a garden hose and it does not feel like somewhere that you should be paying $150+ for per night. After approximately 15 minutes in the cabin, my husband's asthma started bothering him. I believe that there may be mold spores or something similar in the cabin that caused this. We ultimately ended up leaving because he couldn't breathe. I called the company that owns this place and talked to them. They couldn't tell me whether or not our money would be refunded. I'm waiting to hear back from the owner. As of now (4 days later) I have not heard back. Once I do, I will update my review to reflect their decision.

    Manager's Response:
Rene, we're sorry your stay wasn't what you expected. We can confirm the condo is accurately depicted in the photos so guests have an idea of what to expect. The cottage sits on the bank of a river and only 400 yards away from the Pacific Ocean. The cabin is located in a wet micro-climate where the beautiful Conifers and Redwoods grow. The natural environment often has a wet, woodsy aroma. We apologize for the scenario you encountered but are confident future guests will have exceptional stays. Best, the Evolve Team
