Visit the quaint mountain village of Cashiers and explore numerous apparel boutiques, antique and home furnishing shops. Take a stroll through the Village Green, a 12-acre park with outdoor sculptures, walking paths, and beautiful gardens. Enjoy summer entertainment at the popular “Groovin’ on the Green” concerts each Friday. Afterward, treat yourself to a dessert at Sugar Cloud or Cream & Flutter.

For the historian enthusiast, visit the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers built in 1892 and is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Then go back to the time of the Cherokee and venture to see Judacull Rock, petroglyphs created by Cherokee Indians near Cullowhee.

For the adventurous excursion, saddle up horses in Cullowhee at ArrowMont Stables for horseback riding, test your endurance at the WCU Hiking and Mountain Biking Trailhead and Auger Hole Trail at Gorges State Park for mountain biking, or fly through the forest on the Highland Aerial Park zip line courses at Scaly Mountain, NC near Highlands.

See panoramic mountain views from Wayah Bald Lookout Tower or mine for gems in Franklin, known as the “Gem Capital of the World.”

Photograph the historic Jackson County Courthouse, fly fish the Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail, or enjoy the summer sounds of live music outdoors in downtown Sylva at “Concerts on the Creek” music festival.

More waterfalls can be found in Cashiers including Sliding Rock (popular natural waterslide during the summer), Silver Run Falls, and Whitewater Falls (higher than Niagara Falls - highest waterfall in the eastern U.S.). The nest will delight you, comfort you and provide every luxury you desire to make your vacation a restful time. So well equipped with an interior of new and tasteful furnishings, comfortable beds, and even warm, coordinated, woolen throws. We sat by the gas fireplace on chilly mornings to enjoy breakfast and conversation. This is a great location for visit state parks and amazing waterfalls. Be sure to rent a pontoon boat to spend time on Lake Glenville. Owners are extremely responsive. Our calls were returned within minute. As in most mountain locations, mobility issues should be considered. We had available wi-fi, and the added advantage of a land line, which was appreciated. A lovely time!
