    Great Cabin for Youth Trip

    Reviewed by: Levi Harper on

My church brought our youth group to the Xtreme Winter conference and we had an absolute blast staying in this cabin. It was very spacious and able to let all of us congregate in the kitchen and living area for all of our meals, games, etc. We were pleased with the screened in porch and being able to enjoy the nice weather as we tried to have quiet time or meet and talk. Having 4 full baths helped with getting the group up and going in the mornings and there was plenty of rooms for everyone to be able to have their own bed. Highly recommend if you need a place with a small group to retreat to.

The property was adequate for our needs as an extended family. There were several issues with cleanliness, late check in and broken furniture that need to be addressed with the proper people. Overall the property was satisfactory.

    Manager's Response:
Caryl, thanks for your review. The homeowner inspected the home after your stay and only found two small instances of broken furniture. These have both been repaired. Additionally, the cleaners were running a little behind schedule due to extra cleaning needed from the previous guests and we deeply apologize this impacted your stay. The homeowner takes great pride in providing a home that is welcoming and comfortable for their guests and we are confident future guests will have exceptional stays! Best, the Evolve Team

    Summer Family Getaway

    Reviewed by: Teneil J. on

Our group of 13 recently stayed at Pappy?s Hideaway. The drive to the property was breathtaking, as you are literally going up a mountainside. Our family was a little worried how steep it was the first time we went up it, but quickly became accustomed to the drive. The property was clean and the kitchen well appointed. We did have some issues with plumbing and the cable TV from the previous renters, but the owners were considerate and left us a gift card to help reimburse us for our troubles. The view from the back deck was slightly obscured by trees, which we knew from the pictures, but still incredible. We spent lots of time on the rocking chairs outside and even saw black bears roaming up and down the mountainside. The only improvements would have been additional towels for guests using both the hot tub and showering, as well as adding some baking sheets in the kitchen. I would stay at this property again and would recommend it to others.

It was a lovely place! The house was really nice! One of the bathrooms was locked and unaccessible during our stay. Needed more kitchen towels and garbage can liners. We enjoyed the house.

Tons of space- not a ton of amenities

Reviewed by: A Verified Guest on

This place was fine- the space was perfect for the amount of people we had but it definitely could use some upgrades. There’s a dart board but all the darts are broken and there’s a place for pool sticks but no pool table. Lots of dishes in the cabinets were still dirty, but that may have been from the previous renters. We did have a problem with ants in the kitchen and bathroom which I called to report, but I don’t think anyone ever came out to fix it. It served its purpose of housing our family for the weekend, but I don’t think I’ll be back.

    Manager's Response:
Thank you for taking the time to review this home. The homeowners are in the process of upgrading the home. They have already replaced most of the beds and furniture, televisions, HVAC, kitchen amenities and small appliances. Although the house doesn't offer a pool table as an amenity, the pool stick holder is secured to the wall in a way that would be destructive to remove at present. It will be removed when the game room is updated. The owners sincerely apologize for the oversight regarding the dishes. They regret that this matter was overlooked during the last clean and pre-stay inspection, but can assure it will not recur for future guests. This home is only a few hundred yards from the National Park, and it undergoes monthly pest treatments using methods that are licensed, approved, and safe for use in the home and not hazardous to wildlife due to the proximity to the park. The house was treated two weeks before your stay, but we're sorry that you encountered an issue with the ants. The darts have plastic tips for safety purposes. Unfortunately, they often get broken by excessive use. However, there was a supply of replacement tips in a glass jar located on the counter in the game room. We regret that it went unnoticed, but the cleaning team confirmed its presence. The owners wished you would have reached out with any issues or concerns while you were in residence so they could have addressed them immediately to ensure your maximum comfort. As evidenced in previous reviews, we're confident this home will continue to host many satisfied guests! Best, the Evolve Team

    Great cabin!

    Reviewed by: Laine on

We had plenty of space at Pappy's Hideaway! It's an older cabin and very homey! The parking was perfect..not steep! And we have a daughter in a wheelchair and had no problems! The screened back porch was so nice...if the weather has been warmer we could have eaten all our meals out there on the large picnic benches. The two fireplaces upstairs and downstairs were so cozy! I only wish we could have stayed longer! We were less than 10 minutes from downtown...such a perfect quiet location! Plenty of sleeping space (the bunk room was the best for the kids!) and the two master bedrooms on the main level made it easy for us old folks! :) We would definitely like to come back soon!
