This cabin could use a good cleaning first and foremost. There should also be some major updates.

It was easy to rent. Cabin is in good location, but needs major cleaning and upgrade on down stairs. Lots of issues. Needs repairs. For the money it costs to rent, should have more updated interior, cleaner.

Debbie, we're sorry certain aspects of your stay didn't meet your expectations. We strive to build our listings in the most accurate light and can confirm the cabin is accurately depicted in the photos so guests have an idea of what to expect. Additionally, the homeowner has purchased new duvet covers, pots and pans dinnerware, silverware, and glassware. A three-day deep clean has also been done and the owner is working to employ a new cleaner so these issues won't recur for future guests. Drive to cabin was stunning! Cabin in the woods was perfect place for our gathering, but was both disappointed and embarrassed by it! Will send pictures in my letter to the company! Door was unlocked at our arrival and only way we could lock it was to use deadbolt! Will not be going back to this cabin

    Excellent Location. Disappointing Cabin.

    Reviewed by: Danielle N. on

This cabin has an amazing location near Gatlinburg, but it desperately needs some TLC. The floors and carpets were filthy and we encountered millipedes nearly everywhere we stepped. We noticed a lot of them outside, so this is probably a common problem for properties in the area--but it was absolutely disgusting. We took to leaving our shoes on inside the cabin to avoid stepping on them with bare feet. Even still, I woke up with one crawling on my face and I found one crawling on my infant daughter the next morning (fortunately they're harmless, but still). Insect annoyances aside, it was clear that cleanliness is just not a priority for the owners of this cabin. While retrieving a toy that my daughter had kicked underneath the living room couch, we found more dead bugs (not surprising), food crumbs, and a dog toy from who knows how long ago. The ceiling in my daughter's bedroom also had tiles caving in. The porch looked like it hadn't been swept in months, and the hot tub literally had a moldy hose running to it. There were also stains on our sheets/bedding and towels. This place could be really nice if the owners would do something about the insects and have a super deep cleaning done. Overall, I was just really disappointed in our stay and wish I would have booked elsewhere. The location really can't be beat--but that's one of the only redeeming qualities about this cabin in its current state.

Place has a lot of potential but unfortunately there are some issues. They had a centipede issue. We woke up to them falling on us in bed. They were everywhere. The yard could have been maintained in the front better where expected to hang out by the hot tub. It is in a great location but we would never stay again because of the issues we had.
*This review was originally posted on HomeAway for a stay in July 2019

    Manager's Response:
Fredi, we're sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay. We can confirm the cabin is serviced for pests twice a month and the homeowner is working diligently to address these concerns. We understand the owner took generous measures to make up for the inconvenience you encountered and regret if the measures taken were not satisfactory to you. Additionally, they had someone come to trim the yard to ensure you could enjoy the hot tub. The owner truly goes above and beyond for their guests and we are confident future guests will have exceptional stays! Best, the Evolve Team

The location was great and the cabin did the job but there was quite a lot that we were disappointed in. There were millipedes everywhere, dead and alive. It was not the cleanest place we have ever stayed, a good vacuuming would have taken care of the dead bugs at least but they were all over the place on all 3 floors. There was a lot of things that were broke as well (blinds and jacuzzi tub cold water knob, downstairs ceiling sagging, dishwasher silverware tray). There was no cable, just internet and then you had to use your own sign in for Netflix, sling, etc. Also only the main floor tv worked, the tv upstairs had nothing to hook up to. Overall it feels like the owners put very minimal effort to keep this place running.

Overall this is a decent cabin with a great location at the end of a road and high up in the mountains. The kitchen is nice with a big table for playing games. The main floor bathroom is nice also. The cabin is a lot smaller than the pictures make it look and there are some updates that need to be made such as the top floor bathroom and outside hot tub area. There is no shower up there, just a jacuzzi tub. It was a bit dusty with cobwebs and we did keep finding other people’s left belongings under beds and behind dressers when looking for our own items. The living room is arranged a bit awkwardly and the cables for the tv were hanging down onto the couch that it was hung above. Also, there is NO AIR HOCKEY TABLE! This was very disappointing because that was one of the reasons we chose this cabin.

Me and my fiancé brought a wedding party here for a weekend trip. Overall we had a great time (because of the people we were with) but there are a few things that were rather annoying. First of all these walls are literally PAPER THIN. You can literally have a conversation with people the floor below you through the walls. It's bad. The pots and pans are in terrible condition and there really isn't enough cookware. Also not enough trash bags or towels available. There isn't a shower in the master bathroom either. Well not a functional one anyways. Not to mention the place overall wasn't that clean. This place is also SMALL. We had 8 people there and it was super cramped. Definitely not enough room for 10 as the listing says. Also one of the couches it says someone could sleep on is a love seat so unless they are 3 feet tall that would NOT work. We did love the hot tub and the fire inside since we could use the fire pit outside (rain). Overall, I would honestly recommend finding a different cabin. I wouldn't stay here again.

    Charming Property, Quirky Cabin

    Reviewed by: Carolyn G. on

Overall, our group enjoyed our stay in this cozy Gatlinburg cabin. The quirky layout and beautiful tree-lined property is charming enough to make up for a few minor botherations.

    - The location is very proximate to downtown Gatlinburg.
    - The property feels secluded and private with beautiful surrounding woods.
    - The hot tub is a great addition and worked well without complications.
    - The fire pit with chairs/picnic table is near the hot tub and has a beautiful backdrop.
    - The house has a cool layout with 3 floors (Main floor, upper loft with master bedroom, and basement).
    - The house has what you need and a few extra amenities (dishwasher, washer/dryer, pool table, and TVs).
    - WiFi worked and had a strong connection.

    - The house is loud. You can hear people walking and floors squeaking between the floors (rugs in the bedrooms might help with some noise insulation).
    - The beds were fine but sheets, linens, and bedframes felt cheap.
    - Some kitchen items were sparse. A single trash bag was provided as well as a single dishwasher packet. No pot holders and only a few dish towels. It would have been nice to know this and plan accordingly if we would need to bring anything of our own.
    - The pool table was in such a small room you could barely play. I wondered why it wasn't moved to the loft area for more accessibility
    - One of the bedrooms was without a window.
    - There was a severe leak from the Main Floor bathroom shower into the basement bathroom. It appears this is not a new issue considering some mild water damage on the bathroom floor. We consulted maintenance upon departure.
    - The loft bedroom's connected bathroom only had a jacuzzi tub with no shower. The most accessible shower for them is in the basement.

Our group was made up of mid- to late- 20s, dogs, and no children.

Cabin was overall nice, comfortable beds, cozy, nice outdoor area, we brought firewood and had nice fires inside and the firepit. The only real issues was the upstairs bathroom, it would clog easily and over flow. So we just did not use it. And the other issue was the dishwasher, it is small and lots of broken pieces, but this is a rental and everything will not be perfect, we had a great time and the private location was great. Keep in mind in the winter it can be difficult to get up there, it's very hilly, a car would not be able to get there in snow covered roads. BUT overall it was great.

Beautiful location but could use some attention

    Reviewed by: Emily W. on

This location has a lot of potential to be a great mountain get away but could use some TLC. We had no problem finding the cabin and it is nestled into a gorgeous location and is mainly secluded which we loved. We had no issues getting inside but the porch needed swept and needed rinsed off due to dried mud. The kitchen was clean but we kept smelling something rotten. It turns out someone had left a rotten apple in the kitchen trash and had just put a clean bag over it and it had molded. We had to sit the trash can out of nose-shot. The WiFi and Roku worked fine. The sheets on the bed were clean but had some stains on the linens. Some of the decor has pieces broken off. The air hockey table upstairs would have been fun except it wouldn’t even let the puck go in the holes and honestly has seen better days and just needs replaced. The upstairs deck had a bottle filled with cigarettes on the railing and was filled with leaves so obviously it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The beds were ok, not great or bad. Our biggest problem was the toilets seemed to get clogged up even with just “number 1” uses and needed plunged multiple times. The downstairs was much colder than the rest of the house and needs supplemental heating. The pool table was nice but honestly there isn’t much room to play. I think the room would better be utilized as a bigger TV or gaming room since the living room upstairs is smaller. It also would have been nice to have some extra blankets or board games available. The bedrooms downstairs were adequate but cool. The light switches don’t work but instead you have to light using lamps in each rooms. There was some basic things missing from the bathroom like soap dispensers and sink stoppers. The biggest plus was the outside area. The hot tub worked wonderfully and it was covered which was nice since it was raining. The fire pit would have been nice if we would have utilized it. Again the location was so pretty and it was nice to feel like we had space.

Overall we wouldn’t stay there again UNLESS they corrected some of these issues and upgraded a little. We called to report the issue of the trash can but the property is managed by a larger company so we didn’t get a real person and basically got an answering line. In short, with a good hard clean and some upgrades, it would be a nice place to stay.
