    Small things add up

    Reviewed by: Edward G. on

    Comment:

This one bedroom studio is close to downtown so you can walk if you choose. It has been recently updated and the color choices and materials are well done. However, there were a number of small things that add up to rate the 2 stars. The rocking chairs in the photo are sitting on a small slope so it always makes you feel like you?re going to slide out. They also are not adequately covered so there is no way to sit and watch it rain. There should be a door mat on the inside of the door and a small rug or shoe mat on the left wall when you enter so you can take off your shoes and not track dirt into the living space. There is only recessed lighting in the tv area and it is very bright, it would be much more cozy to have a table or floor lamp in this area. The hangers in the closet were a hodgepodge of old dry cleaning hangers. We bought a pack of sturdy plastic hangers. The wireless is obviously supplied by the router in the main house that this apartment sits behind. There are 2 bars if you?re in the kitchen area, 1 bar if watching tv, and 1 or no bars if you?re in the bedroom. Streaming is out of the question. A slave router or range extender in the apartment would be ideal. Three quarters of the building is built into the hillside. Our first day when we opened the door, the apartment smelled like a cellar, which I attributed to no one having been in the dwelling and the ac being off. This was not the case, once we turned the ac on and occupied the apartment the cellar odor remained. We noted that it was stronger on rainy days. When we arrived back home, our clothes that had been hanging in the closet and not worn had the cellar odor when we pulled them out of the suitcase. Perhaps a dehumidifier would solve this issue.

    Manager's Response:
After communicating with the property manager for this home, they wish to provide the following response. Dear Edward G, Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. We really appreciate feedback of any kind. We’re happy that you liked the decor but are sorry to hear that we didn’t live up to your expectations otherwise. We will make sure to get a floor mat by the door and will consider a softer lighting option for the living room. Thank you for notifying us about the hangers, we will make sure to pick some up this week so that the house is well stocked. We will also check on our WiFi tomorrow as we know that is one of the most important things to have readily available when traveling! We will investigate the cellar scent as well, that is something that we were completely unaware of. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to give us some feedback. Hopefully, you will stay with us again so that we can exceed your expectations! Best, The Evolve Team
