Good location and tidy for a weekend stay

Nice location in downtown Boone. Within a short walk to restuaurants, bars and shops. Good for a short, weekend stay for 4 people.

Great location, very spacious and comfortable home! strange that there were no amenities at all though (soap, shampoo, COFFEE...though there was a coffee maker), kind of hard on a business traveler.

Sweet Cottage close to App State but...

    Reviewed by: Jen G. on

The house was a sweet home with great walking access to anything in downtown Boone and East campus of App State. There is another small cottage rental on the property behind the main house and thankfully the weekend guests there were quiet- that would be tricky if it was a party crowd.

The house is comfortable except for the beds- I'd guess they may be as old as the house. Super uncomfortable- you can feel every spring and every move in the bed is SQUEAKY! My daughter and I got very little sleep. Her hips were so sore by Saturday night that she slept on the couch (she's 15 and an athlete). I so very much want these renters to succeed in their endeavor of having this property - I'd advise they buy new beds that are solid and don't squeak and new mattresses that don't have springs. I've never left a review in all our years of traveling but I want people to come to this home and enjoy it. I would definitely recommend this property if I knew friends would be able to sleep well-I'd love to come back if that was the case.

We love Boone-our oldest is a student here. Our favorite downtown restaurant is The Local. SO good! Also, I learned that if you don't want to go out you can order from most any restaurant on BooneTakeOut and your food will be delivered (can take about an hour so plan ahead) Also, Insomnia Cookies delivers until 3AM. :)

This trip we bought our mini-goldendoodle and we went to the dog park on top of Beech Mountain (about a 20 minute drive). It was beautiful and it is a huge park!!

Manager's Response: Hi Jen, We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the home's great location, but we are sorry that the mattresses impacted your stay! The homeowner is dedicated to the comfort of their guests and immediately replaced the mattresses and adjusted the frames once they received your feedback. They apologize that this was not resolved sooner as this is the first time they were alerted to the issue. We are glad that you and your family were still able to enjoy your stay in Boone, and the owner is looking forward to welcoming you and your four-legged friend back soon! Best, the Evolve Team
