Come and enjoy the beauty of Russell Springs from 'Cabin on the Hill,' a 3-bedroom, 2-bath authentic log cabin! This home features hand-hewn square logs, a hand-carved cedar railing, and porches overlooking the vast land, showcasing Reynolds Creek and a variety of wildlife. Whether you’re cozying up next to the gas fireplace or cooking in the fully equipped kitchen, you’ll feel at home!

    -- THE PROPERTY --

**Please note the homeowner lives in the basement of the property and may be present during your stay**

Bedroom 1 (Battenburg Room): King Bed | Bedroom 2 (Cherry Room): Queen Bed | Bedroom 3 (Western Room): Twin Daybed

Hardwood floors, a stone gas fireplace, and vaulted ceilings embellish the rustic living room which greets you as you enter the home. During your downtime, stream your favorite shows on the flat-screen cable Smart TV as you get comfortable on the plush sofa.

An open floor plan creates an easy flow throughout the first floor. As the children lounge in the living room, the adults can whip up home-cooked meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy your creations at the round dining table or at the kitchen island.

After a day spent roaming the wooded property, playing on the swing set or boating around nearby Lake Cumberland, you’ll likely be ready to retreat to your spacious bedroom. Those sharing the room on the first floor will enjoy a king-sized bed, while those sharing the Cherry Room will sleep tight in a queen-sized bed. Soak in the solid marble whirlpool tub or rinse off in the walk-in shower in the en-suite bathroom.

Perhaps one of the best features of this home is its quiet and secluded location. Get comfortable on the front or back porch and take in the babbling brook and wooded views.

    -- THE LOCATION --

Due to the home’s warm and welcoming environment, it will be hard to leave the property, but rest assured, the surrounding area offers things you won’t want to miss!

Schedule a free farm tour (weather permitting and in season) with your stay. The tour consists of poultry, beekeeping, and specialty crops, like raspberries and strawberries and other horticulture gardening crops.

For some fun in the sun, visit Jamestown Resort and Marina, which is only 18 minutes from the property, and spend the day boating around Lake Cumberland. If you’re interested in fishing, try your hand at crappie, bass, walleye, trout, and catfish.

Didn't know a family member would actually be in the basement

    Reviewed by: Terrie A. on

    Comment:

Everything about this place was great except that the son of the owner was in the house with us. The ads said a family member lived “ onsite”....we thought that meant in another Cabin or home. We wouldn't have rented it if we had known that someone was in the basement. With that being said, he was very quiet and the only way we knew he was there was his truck being parked out front at different times. Just felt that our privacy had been compromised. We just strongly feel that that is something the owner should make people aware of before they get there .

    Manager's Response:
Terrie, thanks for taking the time to share your experience and we are glad that you had a great stay overall. We strive to be transparent with our guests at every stage of the booking process and do state in the listing multiple times that the owner's son lives onsite. However, we do apologize if you feel that your privacy was compromised during your stay. We would love the opportunity to travel with you again the next time you book a vacation rental! Best, the Evolve Team

Nice and peaceful. Very clean. Stairs to loft are a little steep and narrow. Screened in back porch is wonderful to watch the sun set.

    Peaceful and Quiet

Cabin on the Hill is a clean, beautiful cabin located 20 minutes away from the Jamestown Marina. It is very peaceful and quiet, and the owners are very hospitable. Pam even gave us a dozen fresh eggs for free! Renters should be aware that the cabin is pretty isolated, however, and because of the fact that many of the interior walls don't reach the ceiling, the sound carries throughout the cabin. This creates some privacy issues. If renters are okay with having to travel far to get to pretty much anywhere except for the lake, and don't mind the sound issues within the cabin, then this is a great place to stay. Thanks, Pam and Jesse!

    Beautiful home, quiet location

The cabin is lovely and comfortable, and we enjoyed a welcome, relaxing, and quiet stay on this beautiful property near Lake Cumberland and Wolf Creek. I had to work for a few hours one day, but didn't mind doing so while listening to the burbling brook and scritching a purring kitty. My favorite feature, BTW, is Sylvester - the world's friendliest cat!! We loved visiting with him on the porch throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend this home to a couple or a small family. The owner's son lives downstairs, but we barely noticed he was there, he was so quiet and respectful of our privacy. Thank you for sharing this beautiful property with us!

We stayed here with another couple in June 2018. It's a great cottage. The kitchen is well-equipped, there's a screen porch, grill, TV with Netflix and Dish, and peaceful and more amenities. We would go back.

Thank You so much for sharing your adorable cabin with us. We have already re-booked for labor day weekend. We had everything we needed : ) The only change I would make is having a washer & dryer with all our lake towels would of been nice, but no big deal. We loved your son Jesse being onsite - he made a huge hit with the boys and hung out with them all evening : ) We received fresh veggies from your mom and dad which were greatly appreciated. Looking forward to all our future stays!!!! Bobbi Jenkins Hillsboro, Ohio

This a great place if you want a cabin in the woods away from anything. This is away from the town and you are truly in the woods. If you looking for a spot to stay during a Lake Cumberland stay you are about 30 to 45 mins away from the cloest marina. Over all a great cabin and Pam was a pleasure to deal with. She even gave us some freash food that was from their garden. Her communication was great and was always there if we needed something.
