Great home and location! Nice open concept kitchen/living room with large windows offering great views. Very comfortable beds, beautifully updated bathrooms, plenty of plush towels and with the added plus of Washlet toilets. Well stocked kitchen and great grill. A hiking trail is just up the road with many hiking opportunities close to the home. Many day trip opportunities such as Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Broadmoor and the zoo close by. If you are doing Pikes Peak … GO EARLY! It get crowded.

Parking for only one vehicle was inconvenient. The road is curvy and vehicles travel fast up & down the road making it hazardous.

    Lovely house

    Comment:

This is a lovey house. It grew on me as we were there. It is a smidgeon different from the picture as it is on a relatively small lot. It is very well appointed and comfortable. The basement where one of the bedroom is was a bit sketchy with old carpet. But there?s an arcade game and foosball table so the teens who stayed down there were happy. The parking is a little rough as the driveway holds one car and the other parks on the street. The kitchen has everything but again is on the small side. The bathrooms are nice. Great shower upstairs. We all commented the pillows could use an upgrade so bring your own if you?re picky about that. There were ten of us staying and it was very comfortable but not what I?d call spread out. As you can tell I?m having a hard time with this review because it it a lovey house and the hosts and management group were extremely nice. I guess I just wished we?d had a little more elbow room in the common area. The location is nice. Very close to the zoo and Broadmoor. We were visiting my son at USAFA which is a little bit of a hike. I definitely recommend this house for your stay. Just make sure everyone likes each other and doesn?t need too much personal space.

Lovely home! The owners are correct that it is not your typical sterile rental. It is a comfortable home, with many charming amenities ( like the Toto washlette in the bathroom - heated toilet seat!), large walk in shower, well appointed kitchen (except we never did find the dish towels). A nice note with a bottle of wine & local snacks from the owners awaited us after a very long travel experience. The stairs up to the home are quite steep for older travelers - we were traveling with my 84 year old mom - though once upstairs, it was very easy to get around. The beds were clean & comfortable. Overall, one of the nicest rentals we have stayed in. Clean, homey, comfortable, and a great location.

A real Gem of a home in Co Springs

Reviewed by: ShaRD from NJ on

    Comment:

We vacationed here in September, 2018.
The house was beautiful as the pictures. Magnificent views and was conveniently close to just about everything, with the Broadmoor Resort was just down the street. That place, in and of itself, was spectacular. We actually came to CO to attend a wedding at the Garden of the Gods - another breathtaking venue. Another bonus, were the bells we heard throughout our stay from the Will Rogers Shrine.
Hands down - ”Old Stage” was an absolutely fantastic home base for our trip in Colorado Springs!
This house was truly a home, built on a foundation of pure love and care. The owners share a piece of their heart and soul in this property for their valued guests. It is meticulously clean. There were 5 of us that traveled from NJ and PA. My son in law selected this particular home because of the location, as he was familiar with Colorado Springs. This place exceeded all expectations. And, it could easily and comfortably accommodate more guests in this spacious home.
There was a lovely welcome basket that my adult children tapped into right away! So very thoughtful and most welcomed. The welcome book was very informative and guided us to make some excellent restaurant / activity reservations.
The communications with the owner were excellent and timely before, during and after our visit.
The house was filled with so many welcomed extras. Great flat screen TVs, excellent WiFi, up to date kitchen and appliances, right down to the well-stocked refrigerator and even a Farmer’s sink! My adult daughters were so envious of that…they LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the farmhouse add. There were extremely comfortable beds and awesome wool blankets. The bathrooms were THE BEST - phenomenal – state of the art – right down to the toilets with heated seats (really!) and bidets! There was a Weber outdoor gas grill and a full size washer and dryer in the basement. The décor and artwork was lovely. We felt right at home as soon as we entered, we clearly were so spoiled and comfortable, that it was so very hard to leave this little slice of heaven.
The owners promote a "pay it forward" system – which means the cabinets and refrigerator were stocked upon arrival. We could use what was there… and we did! But, we also left wine, liquor, fruit, cheese and some other goodies for the lucky vacationers that followed us.
Our family would return and stay there in a NY minute as we say at home. The peace and quiet was so refreshing and frankly, invigorating. As a crazed person from the East Coast, we all agreed before we left, that we would like to visit the area again--maybe at a different time of year--and we would not return unless we could get this property again!
Thank you sharing your beautiful home with us – it added to a most memorable stay – and our family memories during our first trip to Colorado were that much better because of these accommodations! We always heard the hype about going out west – it is all true! You wake up in the morning and look out on the most phenomenal views. The evening skies were so clear and full of stars. My family said they never saw me so a peace as I was there …and I have to agree.
We had a tremendous time in Colorado Springs and the house just added to the experience. We would highly recommend this rental.

There is obviously a lot of love and care in this home. Our family of 5 was traveling to the area from Texas, and I chose this property for its location and the number of rooms (accurately described); I had no idea we were getting such a treasure. The welcome gifts and note from the owner were so thoughtful. We had great pre-communication before we arrived, but the note was an especially lovely touch. We loved the location of the property near the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (my son, the animal lover, had the zoo as his must-see). Bonus: we could see all of the 4th of July fireworks perfectly from the front porch! The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were super comfy--though the only, only thing, we wished there were 2 more pillows on the bed in the Master, but we ended up taking some from the kids, ha! This was our only small negative, and it really wasn't that big of a deal. The welcome book was super informative and helped us make some restaurant/activity decisions--and actually, we loved the reading books in each room! The artwork and decor were perfect--my teenage daughters loved them especially and commented how it made things feel homey, and they loved that it wasn't a cold hotel room. The toilets--er, washlets, were a HUGE HIT, and my son says this is all he wants for Christmas! Though they worked as a standard toilet, they were also able to be controlled by either a remote or a panel on the wall, and added some luxury to an otherwise ordinary event. What a treat to find in already awesome bathrooms (great shower). My husband is a handyman/advanced DIY-er, and he noticed and loved things that I don't notice as much...he liked things like the kitchen countertop, the Farmer sink, the beams in the living room. His favorite chair at the breakfast table was a swivel one that he swears is the same as was at his grandmother's growing up (fine construction!). We all agreed before we left we would like to visit the area again--maybe at a different time of year--and we would try and get this property again. Thank you for a lovely stay; we made sweet family memories in Colorado!

The house was beautiful as the pictures. Close to just about everything and the Broadmoore Resort was just down the street. Deer came right up to the back patio. We enjoyed Pikes Peak that is only about 40 minutes from the house along with Garden of the Gods. The Zoo is a couple miles from the house. Will stay again if back in that area!!

Bathrooms were so nice - they have clearly been updated recently. Plenty of space for at least 8 people to sleep comfortably! We used every part of the house including the grill which was so much fun to have and to be able to hang out in the sun! We even used the hot sauces! If I ever come back to COS, I'll be sure to stay at Old Stage again!

We loved this home! It was in a great neighborhood and loved to here the shrine chime. We heard turkeys the first night we were there which is what we enjoy. The home is spotless. It has modern updates with antiques throughout. We really enjoyed the home. We will definitely stay here again.

We were very impressed with the home, the accommodations, amenities, and welcoming touches. The beds and linens were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we could have needed. Each day, we were greeted by deer, and a beautiful view. It felt like we were staying with family, not in a stranger's home. I've stayed in many vacation rentals, this is by far my favorite!

They owners maintain this property as if they are returning tomorrow. It is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Their attention to detail transforms the house from comfortable to cozy. We felt like we were staying at a friend's house rather than a rental property. The owners have a "pay it forward" philosophy, so the cabinets and fridge are well stocked when you arrive. We were happy to leave it the same way, which gave us a surprising connection to the owners or whoever might stay there next. You can escape the crowd of the city in this house because it is located on the mountainside, yet only minutes from downtown Colorado Springs. This home would be great for a family stay or for a romantic getaway!

The booking process was quick and simple. The pictures were accurate, but didn't capture how wonderful the home really is! All the amenities of home are conveniently provided. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, fresh ground coffee, and delicious treats. The beds were comfortable with lovely bedding . Each morning we were greeted by the local deer. The location was close to town, with the feel of the country. I would love to return to this home on a future visit to Colorado Springs.
