    Don't pass up this VRBO

    Reviewed by: Randy W. on

    Comment:

If you are unsure of wanting to stay here-put your uneasiness aside. Don't let an old town with run down places scare you away. This is actually one of the best little spots we have stayed-and we have rented-literally-more than a hundred VRBO's over the years world wide. We came in mid-October to do a lot hiking and it fits the bill. It is unassuming until you walk in. The house appears recently remodeled and it was done very well. The kitchen is open to the living room which makes family time great. LR furniture is clean, not worn and tasteful. There is even a new 'curved' tv on the wall with all the Netflix and other options you could want. Kitchens are often our biggest complaint since we do all our own cooking - here the owners have supplied everything you need. For the first time in years - even a nice selection of spices, coffees and snacks. Stove, fridge, sink all very new looking and everything works great. The three bedrooms appear to have new mattresses, very clean, no mustyness. The master bedroom is very nice, an excellent mattress, good bedding, own tv and a fantastic walk in shower. Washer/dryers we used every day after hiking and run great. And quiet. Oh is it so nice and quiet. No barking dogs, no traffic, no PIA neighbors. Just a nice little home off the main drag. The owners have taken the time to do things right, even down to the little things. If you are coming to Escalante to explore-you should consider this place. Well...maybe not...don't come... so we selfishly have an opening next year!

We are so happy we were able to find such a perfect place in Escalante for our family to stay! This house had all that we needed for our 3 night stay in the area. Kitchen was fully stocked, plenty of towels and blankets, laundry area with supplies, board games, you name it. House is beautifully decorated. Easy access through the touchpad on the door. Rockers on the front porch were great for early morning views or evening relaxation. My only suggestion for improvement would be a covered carport since it's so hot - the car baked in the sun. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed as two couples, for hiking in Grand Staircase-Escalante and found it great for our needs. The house is very nice, clean, and modern. The kitchen was stocked with many essentials, including a toaster, coffee and tea, spices, and olive oil, which was very nice, since there are not lots of food options nearby and items at the market are pricy. I thought the info said the master bedroom had a waterbed and that was a concern, but it was not. Also, I thought it said the other two were queens, and one was a full size, so just make sure you notice which bedroom you are wanting to use. Our friends were in the master and said there was no heat in the bathroom, but I did not get around to checking on that. Cell service was very poor but they have WiFi, with a password. The weather was not completely cooperative, so it was great that we were able to use a washer and drier. Very good stay. Would try to stay again, if in the area.

Someone put a lot of time and money into making it a great place to stay. Located within easy drive to Bryce or Burr Trail or Grand Staircase Escalante as well as the famous slot canyons. The thing I loved about this town is that it’s convenient and it’s not “over touristy” which I felt actually all of Utah supports keeping things natural. You go to the smoky mountains and it’s so overly done that it takes nature out of it. Must stay. Gorgeous Home and gorgeous town

    Fantastic Place to Stay!

    Comment:

We stayed at the property for a week and it was wonderful. The house is beautiful and well appointed. We really appreciated having laundry facilities on site, it definitely helped for some of our messier hikes in the area. At one point, the sun shade tarp covering the back patio tore due to high winds and fell down. I contacted Janalee the next morning (it was pretty late when we got back), she responded very quickly and the tarp was removed later that day. She was going to have someone come out immediately, but I told her that there wasn't any rush. We were too busy exploring the area and hadn't spent any time on the patio up to that point. She also gave us a couple of ideas for non-hiking places to check out (our feet needed a break from the previous days), which was really nice of her. Actually, the tarp falling down turned out to be a good thing for us, we spent the end of our last night stargazing from the patio. You truly won't be disappointed by staying at this property and in Escalante in general. The Grand Staircase is your backyard and the town is within an hour and a half of both Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef. Unfortunately we didn't make it to Capitol Reef, but only because we were enjoying the GSENM too much. Well, there is always next time! Make sure to read through the guest book for some ideas on where to go. It definitely helped us out and directed us to both the Devils Garden and Spooky Gulch, which we enjoyed a lot. The only thing that I would do differently on that trip would have been to rent a UTV or Jeep from one of the places in town (complete with a SPOT device) instead of taking our rental down Hole in the Rock road. It was fine, but a bit nerve wracking at times; our vehicle bucked like a Bronco at one point on the road and I'm surprised nothing fell off. The road condition varies naturally, so YMMV. Definitely bring plenty of water. Have fun!

Everything was stocked really well and they left us a basket of snacks and granola bars. The owners are also really responsive. There was a small problem with the disposal (previous renter put a penny down the drain) and they were there in less than 5m and got it taken care of. We used the home as a jumping off point to hike Spooky and Peek-a-boo slot canyons. We had a blast. Just remember to bring plenty of water! After a long day of hiking we'd come back and have a "movie night." Every room had a TV hooked up to Netflix so the adults could watch one show in the family room while the kids watched their own shows in their rooms.

The location of the property is off of state highway 12 about 1/12 hours from Torrey, Utah or 1 hour from Bryce. The house has an area to park your car, three bedrooms which are very comfy, a nice kitchen-tv area to relax and a nice patio to enjoy the outdoors with a grill. The house has everything you will need to be comfortable for your entire visit. The owners are very attentive to whatever you might need. The town had 5 restaurants and two small grocery stores. Nemo's has great ice cream to enjoy after hiking all day. Circle D has a nice menu and the food was good. Every restaurant has a pretty good menu and you can take out if you are so tired from hiking all day. There is a visitor center in town and will give you plenty to see and do. It is closed on Sunday. Kodachrome Basin State Park is about a 30 minute drive from town and worth a stop to hike and picnic. There is a fee of $8.00. We hiked Willis Creek which was awesome. You do hike through a creek, narrows and slots. Be aware horses do travel in this area. The same day we hiked to Grosvenor Arch which is about 11 miles from the state park down Rt. 400. If it looks like rain do not get stuck on either of these two roads the dirt roads and will get very slick and muddy. Don't miss jeeping down Hole in the Rock Road to Devils Arch. It is worth the trip and has facilities. We traveled to Bryce which took us about an hour. If you are limited with time, take Hwy. 12 through Tropic and hike Mossy Cave. A busy area but hike the Lower Creek Falls in the morning due to parking problems because of high traffic. If time permits the Petrified Forest State Park is right out of town. There is a trail up the side of the park about a mile with a wonderful view of the reservoir. There is picnic area and facilities at the park with a small fee of $8.00. We had an awesome time in Escalante and would recommend to anyone that enjoys the outdoors, hiking, biking, photography and relaxing.

We stayed in this house for 3 nights and we loved it! It was very well stocked, with everything we could need in the kitchen. The patio was great for hanging out on in the evenings. It is well located in the town of Escalante, where there are a lot of fun things to do.

This was a great place to stay! Had many little extras that were unexpected but really nice. ...like the shampoo and shower gel dispenser, make-up wipes, granola bar and trail mix packs, the kitchen utensils and spices were wonderful, Netflix in every room. We didn't get to use the fire pit in the back yard because of the weather while we were there but that was one of the biggest reasons we chose this property. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends!

Great clean and nicely decorated space. Excellent location and easy check in. Kitchen is a bit on the smaller side (no room to store groceries), and they have a Keurig but no coffee maker. Would stay again.
