    -- THE PROPERTY --

Master Bedroom: Queen Bed, Twin Sofa Bed | Bedroom 2: Queen Bed

This 1,950-square-foot hideaway is perched high on an ancient sand dune offering total privacy while being right in town. Ideal for 2 couples, the home features a split floor plan with bedrooms on opposite sides of the home. The more spacious master bedroom has an en-suite bath and flat-screen TV. The second bedroom is adjacent to another full bathroom and laundry facilities.

The Belle boasts most of its original early 1900’s architecture and charm, yet top to bottom restoration completed in 2017 includes all the modern-day amenities expected for an easy vacation. Guests rave about the extensive wraparound porches and panoramic views of the sun setting over the Carrabelle Harbor. Outfitted with rockers, chairs, hammocks, fans, lights, and a swing, you won’t want to leave!

The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, cherry cabinetry, and expansive granite counters to ensure that cooking for a crowd can be done with ease. Local seafood is available for purchase just blocks away or feast on your own catch. Enjoy your gourmet delights in the formal dining room or wine and dine al fresco on the screened porch.

    -- THE LOCATION --

Carrabelle is a naturalist’s dream and The Belle is an ideal central location for exploring Florida’s Forgotten Coast. Nestled on the edge of Tate's Hell State Forest and Apalachicola National Forest, the region hosts some of Florida’s best bird-watching, hiking trails, and bike routes. Boating, from kayaking and canoeing to deep sea fishing and sunset cruises, are favored by locals and visitors alike.

White sand beaches are the pride and joy of Florida's Gulf Coast. Stay local at Carrabelle Beach, just 5 minutes away, or venture to St. George's Island, with pristine beaches ranked among the Top 10 Beaches of America for several years, only 25 minutes away.

Fishing is another main attraction in Carrabelle. The Belle has plenty of space to store your boat trailer on-site and is just 1 block from a public ramp and public fish cleaning station. Rentals and charters are readily available too. Spend a rejuvenating day at nearby Dog Island, a beautiful island known for its great shelling, crabbing, bird-watching and shore fishing - only accessible by boat.

Stroll into town to live like a local for the day. Visit the quaint shops, restaurants, museums, a large park and playground, and the friendly little library. Be sure to stop by Carrabelle’s claim to fame: The World's Smallest Police Station, for a that memorable photo.

Enjoy championship golf at St. James Bay Golf Resort, just east of town. They also offer tennis courts and a restaurant serving 3 meals. Day trip favorites include Wakulla Springs State Park, Florida’s capitol city of Tallahassee, Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory, St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, and Apalachicola, to name a few.

The Belle is the perfect home base for a week on the "Forgotten Coast". It's beautifully decorated with amazing architectural details and Martha has thought of everything -- all we had to do was move in and enjoy it. Stunning sunsets from the screened porch, great gathering place with friends and family, and excellent access to pristine beaches, eclectic shopping, and all you could want within a scenic 30-45 minute drive. Highly recommend!

We felt right at home as soon as we walked in the house. The kitchen is decorated nicely and it was very clean. The rest of the house was also pretty & clean. The porch was the best part of the house. Spent our mornings having coffee and our evenings drinking wine and watching the sunset. There were 2 things that were a little disappointing. The air conditioners didn't cool the house very well, especially in the front room. The afternoon sun heats up the room and the air conditioner blew air on your head and neck all night. The second thing I would change is to have one room with a king sized bed.

    Manager's Response:
Thank you for your review. The owner of this property has asked us to pass along the following response:

"We are glad you enjoyed your stay at The Belle and provided some specific feedback. We wish you had contacted us during your stay so we could have addressed the issue with the AC immediately. Some vacationers are not familiar with ‘mini-splits’ and it sounds like the settings were altered by previous guests. On the correct settings, they keep The Belle very comfortable. The front bedroom does get more sun and temps must be set lower to keep that room cool. Future plans include replacing current blinds with cellular shades which block a lot of heat/sun. We are also considering upgrading to a king bed in the master bedroom too. In spite of a few disappointments, we appreciate the 5-star review and all your nice comments, and we'd love to have you back again soon."

A historic home on an ancient sand dune. The house was beautifully furnished. Had the best wrap around porch which provided a great view of the sunset. I would have enjoyed some more history about the house. Before and after pictures of the renovation. We will definitely be returning!

I have only praise for this property and its hostess. It is well furnished with quality products, and offers everything one could want in a vacation - including amazing wrap-around porches and privacy on a hilltop above the town. Extremely clean. Might want to skip being there in January, unless you have friends or family in the area. Most restaurants are closed and the fishing is poor, but the local residents are quick to offer their smile and a kind word.

The house is absolutely beautiful and immaculate. Everything was clean and so well stocked. There were so many little thoughtful touches like Kleenex and sandwich bags. It was so nice to come back from a day at the beach or sight seeing and just be able to relax and feel at home. Getting up in the morning and sitting on that beautiful porch overlooking the river was so pleasant. One evening we spotted a raccoon in the trees as he peeked around at us. My husband, our daughter, and my mother-in-law stayed for six days and we loved every minute. I can't wait to bring my sister and visit again.

Oos and Ahhs were echoing throughout our stay at The Belle. The beauty in the woodwork and the modern comfort added tactfully to keep the authenticity of this vintage home is just amazing. The paint and decor is beautiful. The beds are comfortable. We preferred spending our mornings and evenings watching sunrises and sunsets on the large porch every day. Like the perfect shell you put in your pocket, the Belle is a hidden treasure in a quaint fishing town.

We really enjoyed our stay at “the Belle with family for the holiday weekend. Martha was great at providing info to us before we checked in and was quick to respond and very accomodating with any requests we had. The house is beautiful, unique with lots of history, and we really loved all the outdoor porch space. We found the description on Airbnb accurate. We kayaked in the river (across the street), visited appalachicola national park (30 minute drive), went to the the Carrabelle beach (a 5 minute drive), St. George Island Beach (30 minute drive), and walked around the quiet and friendly fishing/port town of Carrabelle. There is a great view from the porch of the river and sunsets. We even saw a black bear during our stay! We really had a great time and loved our stay here!
