  • Country House

    5/5

This house is on a large ranch, and if you are looking to get away from the city, this place fits the bill. Lots of deer and cows and wide open space. No WiFi, but AT&T cell service was good enough to stream video. Master plus two other sleep rooms, we split between the boys and the girls. Front porch is good area to watch the deer. House is well equipped with all the "stuff" you need to cook. There is an HEB in town, with lots of outdoor activities including Colorado Bend and Inks Lake State Park, the Hancock Springs Pool (cold water, nice reprieve from the central Texas heat) and the San Saba Nature Area. Host was responsive. Several AC window units kept up with 100 degree days. We had a good time.

  • Relaxing Stay at Grandma's House!

    5/5

Originally, I had booked this house for just myself and husband, but for a couple of nights, we were also joined by my niece and her eight year old little boy. As we entered the driveway, we were amazed at the number of deer greeting us! And everyday, we watched deer frolicking throughout the vast property and around the house. We didn't have an ATV or four wheeler to explore the property, but we walked to a couple of huge tanks which we really enjoyed. The house was like sleeping over at Grandmas again! The bathroom was huge, beds were very comfortable, kitchen well appointed, satellite TV provided in living room and master bedroom, and utility room accessibility also provided. With the cooler temps, we never had to use the AC window units, but used the space heaters our first night just to take the chill out of the house. Other than that, we were very comfortable temperature wise and really enjoyed having the use of ceiling fans in each room just to keep the stuffiness at bay. The owners, Jerry and Trisa, live on the property, but give you your privacy unless you need something. Both were super nice people and very helpful in trying to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. If you don't want to cook, Lampasas is only 20 minutes from the house and has a wide variety of restaurants to choose from and HEB is also there for all your grocery needs. We drove to Cedar Park (approx. 55 minutes from house and a beautiful drive) to ride on the Austin Steam Train and had also planned to take the Lake Buchanan River Cruise in Burnet (also approx. 55 minutes away), but unfortunately due to all the flooding the area, our cruise was canceled. We had also planned to tour the Longhorn State Cavern and Ft Croghan site, but those areas had also flooded. All in all, we were so thankful to have a nice place to call home for our stay in Lampasas! If you truly want to get away from all the hustle and bustle and just want a beautiful, quiet place to relax and enjoy nature, this is definitely the place for you, your family, and friends! Check it out! You won't be disappointed!!
