Fantastic place to stay. Great location, nice fireplace, beautiful views, quite, and clean! Plenty of room for us (a couple). A heated garage for our rental car was an added plus!

Great place to stay and extremely friendly and hospitable host. Sandy kept in touch with us before we checked in and even opened the garage door for us (before we could even text or call to say we'd arrived) as we pulled in. She gave us a great rundown of the area and places to eat & visit. It's basically an open apartment separated from the steps to the main living area by a curtain but we enjoyed complete privacy. With cell tower for phones being limited in most of Alaska it was great to have the WiFi provided (in the Fairbanks area the AT&T satellite was in a spot that about 1 week a year - the week we were there of course - causes issues). Very nice, large window with a great view of Fairbanks in the distance. We loved the location. which made it a short drive to dark location to get good aurora viewings. We'd recommend a trip to Chatanika Lodge, Chena Hot Springs and Alaskan Prospectors & Geologists Supply (which is by appt only). We enjoyed the North Pole coffee that was supplied. There were a nice amount of dishes and condiments in the kitchen and refrigerator too. There was a great selection of Alaska related videos and other movies but with only 3 days and so much to see we didn't get a chance to take advantage of them. We can't wait to come back.

We were warmly greeted by Sandy, in fact she opened the garage door for us as we were pulling up and let us use it for our entire stay. She was extremely helpful it letting us know good places to visit and eat in the area. It’s a very comfortable living area with everything we needed. The house was very quiet and clean. We wished we’d had time to use the fireplace but we just didn’t have time. But it was very nice that they had firewood ready by the fireplace and just outside. We loved the location. It was just far enough outside of Fairbanks but still very convenient to the city. There is a beautiful view through large windows. A minor concern that we had in the beginning was that only a curtain separated our room from the hallway to the bathroom and to outside door. However, it was still very private for our entire stay. They had a nice collection of Alaska related videos as well as a variety of movies.
Very cute place. Beautiful fireplace. Nice, kind, and accommodating hosts... very nice couple. Excellent movie collection.

First of all, let's talk about the female landlord. It is very warm and very good, but the landlord is not the contact person provided by the software. The whole room experience is not good, the space is limited, all the things are in one space, the price is not high, the static electricity in the city is very Serious, the electricity is very painful. This is the reason why my experience is very poor. I don’t use the whole house independently. The owner lives on the second floor. It’s very inconvenient to go out to see the aurora in the middle of the night. I can’t speak loudly. The kitchen is very small and simple. Cooking is very inconvenient. It should only be a water bar in the living room. The bed is a folding bed that is opened in the living room. The living room is very small after opening. The firewood in the fireplace is not added the next day. The bathroom has no toiletries. The garage does not. Let use it, it is better to go to the hotel, it is much worse than the villa I rented before. Everyone must contact the owner in the future. If you don't want to live together, you must ask clearly. This house is very old, or look at the new point, location. Convenient listing (Translated from Chinese (Simplified))

Tiejun, thank you for your review. This homeowner has asked us to pass along the following response:
"Dear Tiejun Jin (& Lee), First of all, thank you for taking the time to submit a review of our studio apartment. We are however surprised at your comments. You arrived when I was not home, but my husband was there to let you in. He informed me that you were interested in dog sledding and /or snow machine ride and seeing the aurora. Since I was in town I stopped by the visitor’s center to get specific brochures for those activities for you. The Visitor’s Guide was in the apartment. When I got home with the brochures, I discovered that you don’t speak much English and we speak no Chinese. We called a Chinese friend who has a B&B so you could talk together and she gave us information. I called several businesses for you and learned that there wasn’t enough snow for dog sledding, so the dogs were pulling a wheeled sled, but the businesses were booked up for the time you wanted. Also, because of the lack of snow the snow machine business hadn’t started up yet. We had a new experience with you using your cell phone. I would talk into the phone and it would translate into Chinese for you. Although I still felt like you didn’t understand what I was trying to tell you. You may have misunderstood in the house description that the owners live upstairs and you were renting the downstairs apartment. The Murphy Wall Bed folds up to give you more room if you needed it. Yes, the kitchenette is small but has all of the appliances and utensils that are needed. Toiletries were in a cabinet drawer in the bathroom. I was very surprised when you left that none of the towels in the cabinets were used. I heard the shower. Did you bring your own towels? If you needed the washer & dryer in the garage you only needed to ask. When I came down to talk to you about your “tours”, you had a roaring fire going and a beautiful spread of food on the table, including king crab. It was such a nice cozy setting that I asked to take your picture in front of the fireplace. We are sorry that the wood for the fireplace was not replaced. We try to stay out of the guest’s apartment to give them privacy. There was plenty of wood in the wood box by the front door. It was cloudy outside both days you were here. We told you the aurora would not be visible. We also do not advertise seeing the aurora from our house, although some have. The house was built in the 1970s, but most everything in the apartment is new. Because of a recently broken water pipe, the walls, carpet, lights, Murphy Bed, love seat are all new this year. The garage is not available for guest use, but there are outlets for guest cars if it is below 10 degrees F. When you were leaving you seemed to be enjoying the “winter wonderland” in the yard. You were taking pictures We enjoyed meeting you and trying to communicate. We are sorry that you were disappointed in your stay."
Best, the Evolve Team
My wife and I stayed at Lizzie's Nest for about 2 weeks. Ted and Elizabeth are gracious hosts and gave great advise for places to eat and go. We really loved our meal at the Turtle Club. The walk out living space has a great view of the mountains, valley, Chena River Valley and parts of Fairbanks. One morning a fox walked by the front window and I found a beautiful pair of Spruce Grouse on a walk down the road. We had stayed here back in December when our son got married in Fairbanks. Now, the space has recently been renovated with new carpet, furniture, etc. I think this is the largest shower I have ever seen (probably about 3 1/2 x 7 feet). We had a small maintenance request in the morning and Ted had it fixed by the time we came home in the afternoon. We found this as a place of peace where we could recharge at the end of each day.

Lizzie?s Nest was a good ?home base? for our time in Fairbanks. It was comfortable and had a nice view in a woodsy setting, while still in a good location to enjoy all that the Fairbanks area has to offer. The owners were friendly and helpful. TV coverage could be upgraded, but if cable is not a requirement for you, you will enjoy this rental.

We needed a "home base" while in Fairbanks visiting our son and daughter in law and this was the perfect place. Everything we needed was there in the kitchen so we didn't have to drive into town to eat breakfast, etc. It was a very private apartment with a beautiful view of the valley. Ted and Elizabeth were so welcoming and warm. The only thing we would have changed is the comfort of the sitting area. I am sure the rocking chair and the love seat have sentimental value, but the comfort level was very low. Possibly a reupholster job should be in the future as the lack of padding and the springs made it hard to sit to relax. The recliner was very comfortable however as well as the bed. Thank you Ted and Elizabeth for making our stay a memorable one.
