    -- THE PROPERTY --

Master Bedroom: Queen Bed | Bedroom 2: Queen Bed | Bedroom 3: 2 Twin Beds

Step inside and you’ll immediately be taken aback by the cathedral ceilings and rustic log walls that mark the open living area. Kick off your shoes and unwind on the plush sofa while you watch your favorite show on the flat-screen Smart TV or start up a game of checkers on the game table.

Pull up a stool to the live edge breakfast bar and watch the chef in your group cook up a delectable meal in the fully equipped kitchen. In the morning you can wake up with complementary coffee, tea or hot cider from the Keurig machine. Recently updated, the kitchen features all new stainless steel appliances and sleek white cabinetry. Light the candles or start a fire in the stone wood-burning fireplace and gather around the wood table set for 8 to enjoy dinner with the whole family.

The backyard is primed for entertaining, featuring an 8-person hot tub with Tiki torches, lounge chairs, gas grill, a fire pit and a dock. Lay out under the sun during the day, and at night, settle into the adirondack chairs set around the fire pit for s’mores. When the fickle Florida weather rolls in, retreat to the screened-in porch, where you’ll find unique rocking chairs and porch dining for your group to spread out.

When night falls, rest your head in one of 3 spacious bedrooms. All 3 rooms are tastefully decorated with eclectic wall art and charming furnishings. The master bedroom boasts a queen-sized bed and private en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. In the second bedroom, you’ll find another queen bed, while the third bedroom includes 2 twin beds and a flat-screen TV.

    -- THE LOCATION --

Homosassa, known as “Florida’s Nature Coast,” is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise with plenty of opportunities to experience the beauty of nature. Kayaking with wild manatees in the waterways behind the property is a must, along with snorkeling for scallops during scallop season.

For an even closer encounter with the manatees, head to the Homosassa Springs, the only place in the U.S. where it’s legal to swim with these majestic sea creatures. Mingle with these gentle giants while you splash around in the crystal clear waters that maintain 70 degree temperatures year-round!

From Oct 15th- April 15th, one traveler per reservation can have a free swim with the manatees tour. They will need to contact Captain Donny at Airtank Divers. Only one free tour per group, so get ready to draw straws!

Check out the native wildlife when you visit Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, which is also home to Lu, a hippopotamus that has called the park home for the last 57 years. The facility also offers educational programs and an underwater viewing fishbowl.

Let off some steam at the end of your day of fishing for the 'silver king fish' by stopping by local tiki bars, which include The Shed, The Freezer, Seagrass and the Monkey Bar. You can also do a little shopping in town at some of our artisan shops and snag a souvenir to show friends and family when you get home.

Be sure to stop by the Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins, a 5,100-acre sugar plantation that offers a unique look into the area’s rich history.

Our 3 year old "LOVES HOMOSASSA"

    Reviewed by: Chellsey P. on

    Comment:

I can't count how many times during our visit he just randomly told us "I love Homosassa". This was our third year visiting the area and second staying at this property. We can't say enough good things. A large group of us stay between a handful of houses in the area each year and between scalloping and fishing and just enjoying the beautiful property we enjoy every minute of it. We hope to be able to stay at this property again next year when we return to the area.

My mother, 2 sisters and I just returned from a stay at this house and loved it. The location was convenient to local attractions in Homosassa Springs and the canal was peaceful, serene and breathtaking especially in the early morning. The house and amenities was everything that was pictured but once you were there, it was so much more. I highly recommend this rental. The house was clean, well maintained and appointed, plenty of comfortable beds and the hot tub was great on cool nights! The kayaks were the best part as we made sure to get out daily to explore the area's canals. I cannot say enough about this property. Gina was a great host and gave us an informative tour of the house on arrival.

This is a fantastic property, stylishly decorated with really comfy beds and thick hotel quality linens - so it felt a bit special and we felt at home immediately. Gina and her husband couldn’t have been more welcoming when we arrived and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, hammock and kayaking from the jetty at the back of the house, as well as dinners both at the main dining table and on the midge-free veranda overlooking the canal. It was the ideal location for exploring Homosassa, including the wildlife park and the Crystal River area. Thanks so much - we are already recommending it and hoping to return.

This place is great place to stay, but have to say this is the first time, the owner waited and go through the rules on the house and have you signed it. Be prepare with nosism spray as it was horrible during dask and dawn, the babyganic does not work, got to use deet or paricidin type. There is no dishwasher, it was ok for the first day but it is the last thing we want to do after the whole day of outing. Overall it is the house is a charming, functional cabin house. Love the house.

The cabin by the river had everything you could ask for. Spotless and well equipped inside and out with lots of extras like the hot tub, hammock, kayaks, corn hole, board games, bbq, fire pit, and loads of chairs and loungers. Loved the rockers on the porch where we sat and watched a huge storm. The wildlife was facinating with manatees swimming by daily, leaping mullet, catfish, squirrels, egrets and heron but best was our close encounter with a manatee while kayaking - he came alongside each boat to check us out and swam alongside for a while - what a treat. Our host Gina left us lovely fresh eggs from her own chickens and was on hand for any questions. She had thought of everything to make our stay as good as it could be. Very sad to leave.

I can't begin to tell all the reasons this should be your choice home. Gina and Joe were such gracious hosts. They went out of their way to help us. They even took us out on their boat just to be sure we would know our way back in our rented boat. The cabin was spacious and immaculate. Our grandson went kayaking for his first time. And when he wasn't in the hot tub he was fishing from the dock or making smores in the fire pit. My son saw a manatee momma and her baby while fishing one early morning. Not only is it beautifully decorated, Gina has provided everything you can possibly need. Greatest Father's Day weekend ever.
