City: Celo, North Carolina Property ID: 369422

grand total: From $135 total Per Night

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Get off the grid and venture into the mountains to find ‘Ama’, a secluded 1-bedroom, 1-bath vacation rental cabin in the lush Pisgah National Forest. Enjoy the fresh North Carolina air from the gorgeous riverfront deck as the sounds of crashing waterfalls ease you into a vacation state of mind.

    THE PROPERTY

    Bedroom: Queen Bed

The appropriately named 'Ama', meaning water in Cherokee, was given rightfully so, as the sounds of serene rivers and crashing waterfalls that surround this property provide a calming natural atmosphere like none other!

The cabin’s name is not the only touch of Native American culture you’ll find here - this space is filled with Cherokee-inspired influences in each room which adds to the unique ambiance. ‘Ama’ is covered in rustic wood paneling and mountain decor to make the space feel warm and cozy.

There's plenty to admire downstairs as you venture into the cabin and find your spot by the propane gas log fireplace or on the fur-lined leather chair. You'll be happy to find the kitchen fully equipped and filled with updated appliances so you won't have to make the drive into town, and can spend your nights cooking up dinners together in a kitchen of your own.

Take dinner to the outdoors and spend a night eating on the covered deck instead! This space boasts a 2-person table, outdoor grill, and incredible view of the river below, perfect for those warm summer nights. For a front row seat, walk down to the river to roast marshmallows over the fire pit while relaxing in the outdoor furniture.

Kick back in the additional living space upstairs, which features a flat-screen cable TV, eclectic furniture and magical fairy lights strung overhead. Upstairs you’ll also find the inviting bedroom - a vibrant spot with plenty of space to feel comfortable in. Enjoy a bit of added luxury in the bathroom with a large walk-in tile shower.

    THE LOCATION

Untouched and inaccessible to the public, you'll have an entire forest to explore for yourselves. The home is at the base of Celo Knob, the northernmost peak of the Black Mountain Range, so you’ll have unparalleled backyard access to hiking, rock climbing, and mountaineering beginning at a base of 6,327 feet - adventure enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their gear along on the trip!

For those who are more comfortable on the green, the Mt. Mitchell Golf Club is just a 15-minute drive away and ensures an enjoyable and scenic 18-holes.

If you're looking to skip a day of seclusion, drive to the quaint nearby town of Burnsville. In the heart of Burnsville is Town Square, where arts and crafts festivals are often taking place throughout the year. You'll also find dozens of local favorite restaurants, so you won't have to explore the town on an empty stomach.

Wow! This place is amazing. Disney spends millions to create fake waterfalls etc... Jack's is better than anything they could create... it's so perfect we kept saying it looks fake. ( Maybe a sad commentary on Americans when we think spectacular natural beauty looks “fake”.) In addition to the amazing external setting, the cabin itself is super cool. Decorated creatively with what appears to be stuff from all over the world. It looks cool in the pics, it's just as cool or cooler in person. If there is a neater, cozier cabin in the NC mountains I'd love to see it! We

We loved the view of the falls off of the porch. We were steps away from the trail up Mt. Celo. Although we didn't make it to the top we had fun trying. The cabin is beautifully decorated. Jack had everything we needed there to make our stay very enjoyable. We definitely will be coming back. Thank you so much!!!

The cabin is even nicer than the photos - impeccably clean, stocked with everything you need- but the real treat is the view off the porch. The cabin is built right next to the stream bank and the view upstream to a small waterfall is gorgeous. A perfect weekend getaway!

My wife and I were looking for a quiet weekend to celebrate our anniversary, enjoy the surroundings, and relax. This property was everything we were looking for and more.

We were enamored from the moment we drove up. The cabin is quaint and cozy and the pictures do not even begin to capture the charm and warmth here. We spent hours on the porch reading, talking, and enjoying the sound of the rushing water & view of the tiered waterfalls.

We cooked in and ate out; we explored the woods & streams & waterfalls and we explored the local arts and crafts; we soaked in the environment and surroundings. Jack and Jim are the perfect hosts. They offered ideas & activities and ensured we had a great weekend.

If you are looking for a romantic spot for quiet reflection and a basecamp for other activities, look no farther.

What a great place! We stayed three nights and wish it could have been more. This cabin is wonderfully decorated and cozy. It looks like something out of a magazine. Perfect for a couples get away. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The bedroom has a very comfortable bed and is adjoined by a bathroom with a huge shower. Although we only spent maybe a hour in the "TV room" it was decorated beautifully with the hanging lights from the ceiling. The star of this place is, of course, the deck and waterfall! A bottle of wine in one of the comfy chairs and you'll never want to leave! We didn't! Even though this cabin is tucked away on the mountain, it was very easy to get to. There is a wonderful country/craft/pottery store in nearby Micaville. Maples adjoins the store and is a great place to get a cup of coffee and sweet treats. Also, Burnsville is only about 15 minutes away where there is an Ingles grocery store. We spent the better part of a Saturday checking out the shops and farmer's market in downtown Burnsville. It was also only about 45 minutes to Asheville and maybe an hour to Mt. Mitchell. The owners are wonderful and will gladly show you around the gorgeous property and give you directions to nearby locations, as well as dining options. We can't wait to book our next vacation here, hopefully in the winter or fall!

There are so many great things to say about this house, but the creek and deck stole the show! We spent hours drinking wine and listening to the sound of the water below. It truly is something that belongs in a story book. The detail that Jack put into decorating the house both inside and out is amazing. And Jack was such a gracious host. His recommendations for activities and dining did not disappoint. We also had a small issue come up in the house, but he quickly responded and fixed the issue right away. We only had a couple of days to enjoy Burnsville, but we will definitely be back. If you are looking for a magical getaway....this is your house! Thanks for letting us be part of the first handful of renters.

Amy W. Perfect Spot To Disappear and Recharge

We didn't want to leave! So we'll definitely be back over and over and over...well, you get the idea. This is the perfect cottage for a couple who enjoys nature, and peace and quiet. The cabin itself is immaculate, yet so cozy. We only stayed three nights this first time, but we talked and hope to stay more like a week in the future when we can. It's that cozy and comfortable. You can bring your food to cook and snacks, but we actually only brought a couple of snack items we had at home, then after getting settled in, we drove to the Ingles only about 10-15 minutes away to get what foods, drinks, etc... we wanted during our stay. There is a full size kitchen with all the plates, glasses, pots, etc... Now, for the star of this cabin - THE WATERFALL and CREEK DECK! Oh my goodness! We probably spent 90% of our time on this deck, enjoying the sound of the waterfall and creek, reading, just sitting still and unwinding. There is a high-top table and chairs at the corner of the deck nearest the waterfall, so we had breakfast there and supper there some. There is a fabulous grill on the other end of the deck, then plenty of rockers in the middle. This deck is HUGE! We hiked a little up the mountain since you could just step outside the door to do so. We didn't get a chance to hike up to the top of the waterfall like Jack suggested, but we will next time! There is also a great little craft museum/shop/coffee shop just minutes away in Micaville that also has live music on certain nights/dates, so check out those dates before making your plans. The coffee shop that is there also has some locally made pot pies that you can buy frozen to take back to the cabin to cook for lunch or supper. Then there are lots of pottery and glass crafter studios all around that you can visit - most had regular hours more mid to late week.

This is a magical getaway for a couple and the owners have other cottages on the property for rent. Everything is comfy from chairs, soft blankets, to beds to shower. The deck view of the cascading river and waterfalls are mesmerizing. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us by inviting us to sit by the stream by their house, giving local suggestions for driving, hiking, and touring. The wifi is good and the kitchen and grill were very well equipped. The heavy foliage at the foot of the mountain does make the house rather dark, but it did not detract from its charm. We were mostly on the porch. The hiking is outside the front door. Untouched forest. You could spend the day looking at all the decorations tastefully placed in and outside the home. Feels like a storybook setting. Stock up on groceries because there is not much in the immediate vicinity. Check out the Penland School of Arts, as suggested by one of the owners. There are a few little gems nearby to buy pottery and get a coffee, but you have to find them. We highly recommend this place if you are looking for nature, quiet, and beauty. Thanks for letting us be your first renters!
