Waterfall Cabin in the Pisgah National Forest!

City: Celo, North Carolina Property ID: 369422

grand total: From $145 total Per Night

Get off the grid and venture into Pisgah National Forest to find 'Ama Falls,' a secluded 1-bedroom, 1-bath vacation rental cabin that backs up to a waterfall deep in the lush forests of the Black Mountains. Enjoy the cool mountain air and sounds of crashing waterfalls from the gorgeous riverfront deck. Treat this cabin as your own base camp for visiting Mt Mitchell and Mt Celo, North Carolina’s two tallest peaks over 6000 feet - they loom right there above your head!

    Bedroom: Queen Bed

The appropriately named 'Ama', meaning water in Cherokee, was given rightfully so, as the sounds of serene rivers and crashing waterfalls that surround this property provide a calming natural atmosphere like none other!

The cabin’s name is not the only touch of Native American culture you’ll find here - this space is filled with Cherokee-inspired influences in each room which adds to the unique ambiance. ‘Ama’ is covered in rustic wood paneling and mountain decor to make the space feel warm and cozy.

There's plenty to admire downstairs as you venture into the cabin and find your spot by the propane gas log fireplace or on the fur-lined leather chair. You'll be happy to find the kitchen fully equipped and filled with updated appliances so you won't have to make the drive into town, and can spend your nights cooking up dinners together in a kitchen of your own.

Take dinner to the outdoors and spend a night eating on the covered deck instead! This space boasts a 2-person table, outdoor grill, and incredible view of the river below, perfect for those warm summer nights. For a front row seat, walk down to the river to roast marshmallows over the fire pit while relaxing in the outdoor furniture.

Kick back in the additional living space upstairs, which features a flat-screen cable TV, eclectic furniture and magical fairy lights strung overhead. Upstairs you’ll also find the inviting bedroom - a vibrant spot with plenty of space to feel comfortable in. Enjoy a bit of added luxury in the bathroom with a large walk-in tile shower.

Untouched and inaccessible to the public, you'll have an entire forest to explore for yourselves. The home is at the base of Celo Knob, the northernmost peak of the Black Mountain Range, so you’ll have unparalleled backyard access to hiking, rock climbing, and mountaineering beginning at a base of 6,327 feet - adventure enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their gear along on the trip!

For those who are more comfortable on the green, the Mt. Mitchell Golf Club is just a 15-minute drive away and ensures an enjoyable and scenic 18-holes.

If you're looking to skip a day of seclusion, drive to the quaint nearby town of Burnsville. In the heart of Burnsville is Town Square, where arts and crafts festivals are often taking place throughout the year. You'll also find dozens of local favorite restaurants, so you won't have to explore the town on an empty stomach.

    Dear Jack and Jim,
Amazing....there is no other word to describe this place. My husband booked this Cabin as a 33rd year Anniversary gift and boy what a surprise it was! The little details you have put into this place are wonderful. It’s like a little piece of heaven, so serene and peaceful. We hiked the top 15 Trails to do in NC and even did a Black Diamond called Woody Ridge which is close by and made it all the way to Percy’s Peak at 6197 ft. When all is said and done, every day we headed home to this cozy retreat, relaxed on the porch and just listened to the water rush by. We have come to name this our Little Love Shack! Thanks to both of you for all the effort you put into this place but most of all for sharing it with us and others. We definitely will be coming back and hope to rent your other Lotsa Moose Lodge for the rest of our family. Chris and Terry G, Miami Florida

    Jack and Jim,
Your cabin is a reminder to top, breath and enjoy the things and people around you. This visit brought my friend and I peace and calm inside and out. We left the cabin a few times to enjoy the town. The Oaak Pottery and Art Gallery up the street has beautiful art pieces that are one of a kind, with music in the evenings that was very enjoyable and wonderful, with wonderful enjoyable shop owners that help give you the history on the town.
The restaurants in town were unique and the food was great. We recommend the Appalachian Java coffee shop for morning coffee with yummy muffins. The Snap Dragon was great for lunch and the employees are super friendly.
We did visit a waterfall up the road. A short hike for those who want to see that stuff but can’t always do the rough terrain. It’s name is Roaring Fork Falls. Lastly the Bear Park Sky Observatory at the Energy Exchange was phenomenal. Owners made the planet and star gazing unforgettable!

Cabin is beautiful and the waterfall right off the backyard was like out of a commercial. Only problem we had was the AC did not work. The first night was OK with the fans on and windows open but very humid. The second day temps soared into the high 90?s so it never really cooled off in the house until about 4am, Not that big of a deal unless you are going through menopause and get night sweats. We ended up just sleeping down stairs where the dehumidifier was and just made a pallet on the floor and cranked up the fans. Area is beautiful and House is stocked well with dishes, silverware, towels, etc. A little store is close so you can get milk, etc. Would love to return!

What a great place! We stayed three nights and wish it could have been more. This cabin is wonderfully decorated and cozy. It looks like something out of a magazine. Perfect for a couples get away. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The bedroom has a very comfortable bed and is adjoined by a bathroom with a huge shower. Although we only spent maybe a hour in the "TV room" it was decorated beautifully with the hanging lights from the ceiling. The star of this place is, of course, the deck and waterfall! A bottle of wine in one of the comfy chairs and you'll never want to leave! We didn't! Even though this cabin is tucked away on the mountain, it was very easy to get to. There is a wonderful country/craft/pottery store in nearby Micaville. Maples adjoins the store and is a great place to get a cup of coffee and sweet treats. Also, Burnsville is only about 15 minutes away where there is an Ingles grocery store. We spent the better part of a Saturday checking out the shops and farmer's market in downtown Burnsville. It was also only about 45 minutes to Asheville and maybe an hour to Mt. Mitchell. The owners are wonderful and will gladly show you around the gorgeous property and give you directions to nearby locations, as well as dining options. We can't wait to book our next vacation here, hopefully in the winter or fall!

We didn't want to leave! So we'll definitely be back over and over and over...well, you get the idea. This is the perfect cottage for a couple who enjoys nature, and peace and quiet. The cabin itself is immaculate, yet so cozy. We only stayed three nights this first time, but we talked and hope to stay more like a week in the future when we can. It's that cozy and comfortable. You can bring your food to cook and snacks, but we actually only brought a couple of snack items we had at home, then after getting settled in, we drove to the Ingles only about 10-15 minutes away to get what foods, drinks, etc... we wanted during our stay. There is a full size kitchen with all the plates, glasses, pots, etc... Now, for the star of this cabin - THE WATERFALL and CREEK DECK! Oh my goodness! We probably spent 90% of our time on this deck, enjoying the sound of the waterfall and creek, reading, just sitting still and unwinding. There is a high-top table and chairs at the corner of the deck nearest the waterfall, so we had breakfast there and supper there some. There is a fabulous grill on the other end of the deck, then plenty of rockers in the middle. This deck is HUGE! We hiked a little up the mountain since you could just step outside the door to do so. We didn't get a chance to hike up to the top of the waterfall like Jack suggested, but we will next time! There is also a great little craft museum/shop/coffee shop just minutes away in Micaville that also has live music on certain nights/dates, so check out those dates before making your plans. The coffee shop that is there also has some locally made pot pies that you can buy frozen to take back to the cabin to cook for lunch or supper. Then there are lots of pottery and glass crafter studios all around that you can visit - most had regular hours more mid to late week.

This is a magical getaway for a couple and the owners have other cottages on the property for rent. Everything is comfy from chairs, soft blankets, to beds to shower. The deck view of the cascading river and waterfalls are mesmerizing. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us by inviting us to sit by the stream by their house, giving local suggestions for driving, hiking, and touring. The wifi is good and the kitchen and grill were very well equipped. The heavy foliage at the foot of the mountain does make the house rather dark, but it did not detract from its charm. We were mostly on the porch. The hiking is outside the front door. Untouched forest. You could spend the day looking at all the decorations tastefully placed in and outside the home. Feels like a storybook setting. Stock up on groceries because there is not much in the immediate vicinity. Check out the Penland School of Arts, as suggested by one of the owners. There are a few little gems nearby to buy pottery and get a coffee, but you have to find them. We highly recommend this place if you are looking for nature, quiet, and beauty. Thanks for letting us be your first renters!
