Upon arriving at this Alaskan cabin, you’ll be greeted by the fully covered porch, which you’ll soon find to be the perfect spot for relaxing while enjoying the sights and sounds of this beautiful forest getaway. Grab one of the many books about Alaska and learn more about your home-away-from-home!

Inside, the living space has an abundance of windows that provide a "cabin in the woods" feel. The windows let the outdoors in, showing off the spruce, hemlock, and birch trees surrounding the property. This serene space is complete with solid hardwood floors, a new plush sectional sofa, and flat-screen Smart TV.

Adjacent to the cozy living room is the modern, fully equipped kitchen that makes cooking easy with all of the amenities of home. For mealtime, head to the large, rustic dining room table that easily enables conversation among family and friends.

The upper master bedroom has a custom log, queen-sized bed and boasts earthy French doors that allow more light to pour in, providing an airy and breezy ambiance. The second bedroom has tailor-made, twin-sized bunks that can sleep kids or adults in total comfort. Both bedrooms have room-darkening shades that provide restful slumbers under the midnight sun. Additional sleeping can be found on the comfy queen bed in the loft.

When you're in need of fresh air, make your way to the outdoor fire pit, which will quickly become your favorite gathering place to enjoy the great outdoors during your visit to the ‘Moonshine Cabin.'

    -- THE LOCATION --

‘Moonshine Cabin’ is nestled in the beautiful Resurrection Valley, which is surrounded by the 6.9-million-acre Chugach National Forest - a true national treasure. You'll have ample opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, photography, wildlife viewing, birding, fishing, gold panning, glacier cruising, kayaking, and whitewater rafting on the world-famous Six Mile Creek.

If you're looking for tasty Alaskan cuisine, head to Creekbend Company, Seaview Bar & Cafe, Dirty Skillet, or Food on Second. Great coffee is just a short walk away at Turnagain Kayak & Coffeehouse, open in the summer, and Grounds for Hope, located downtown.

Hope has a great music scene, from dancing on the deck at the Seaview to a chill outdoor concert at the Creekbend Acres. Take a stroll around the Historic District with a visit to the Hope the Hope Library, wandering through shops with unique, Alaskan artwork and keepsakes.

The property is only a 1.5-hour drive from Anchorage along the scenic Seward Highway, a National Forest Scenic Byway. ‘Moonshine Cabin’ is a great home base to explore the Kenai Peninsula, with Whittier, Portage Glacier, Cooper Landing, and Moose Pass all within an hour’s drive - Seward, the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, is just a bit further.

If you're interested in a winter visit to Alaska, check out Girdwood and the Alyeska Ski Resort, just 1 hour away, offering great dining, shopping and, of course, skiing. If you're a thrill-seeker, check out Chugach Powder Guides for heli-skiing in the mountains of Chugach National Forest and Chugach State Park. Be sure to visit in September as the trout fishing is great!

In Hope, there are plenty of opportunities for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. About 40 minutes away is the breathtaking Turnagain Pass - a well-known backcountry skiing and snowmobiling destination in March and April, when the sun is high and the snow is deep.

*Please note that starting in the middle of September there are limited services and some restaurants close for the winter*

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was in top-notch condition, and in a beautiful location. Tom was very knowledgeable about the area and gave good recommendations for eating, hiking, etc. The area itself is quite secluded, which is what we were looking for. Highly recommend!

He always texted me back within minutes. We only had a family of 4 but the cabin could fit a lot more people so we had a lot space. We really enjoyed waking up and walking about half a mile, to the little local coffee shop. Hope is such a cool town. We were all over Alaska during our trip, but little town of Hope is something that is just really special.

    Amazing Cabin in Hope!

    Reviewed by: Matt B. on

    Comment:

We had an amazing vacation on the Kenai Peninsula in Late June, staying at the Moonshine Cabin. The cabin is truly great, even better than the photos. Everything you need is there. Beds are comfortable, temperature is easily controlled perfectly with the heater (it was about 60 outside during the day, cold at night), kitchen is great, laundry is great, my 10 year olds loved the bunk beds. Fire pit was a great part, as was the hammock. Tom was very nice and when I told him I was headed to the Russian for sockeye, he provided me with one of his coolers for my fish. Hope is a beautiful place, very quaint and quiet, and very far from the closest large grocery store, so make a list and get all your supplies in Anchorage on your way down, or you'll have to drive to Soldotna, about 1.5 hours away. They do have a couple of small local stores for some essentials, but they are expensive and limited. Resurrection creek runs through town and you can get some Dolly Varden action there on the fly, along with Pink Salmon in the second week of July. We did multiple missions to Cooper Landing, Soldotna, and Seward on different days, ranging from 45 min to 1.5 hrs--all incredibly beautiful drives. Homer is 3 hours. Can't say enough about the cabin, though. Really suited us to a tee--truly beautiful, clean, comfortable, away from it all. A great resting place and jumping off spot for the rest of the Kenai. Thanks, Tom!

Would recommend to anyone and would stay again if ever in the area. Thanks again Tom fer everything.

    Family Favorite!

We stayed at 3 different VRBOs on our trip to Alaska, and this was hands down our family favorite! It was well stocked, and we like to eat in so it was especially great having a kitchen that had everything we needed (and then some). The layout of the house was perfect; cozy, but spacious. We had 3 generations (tweens, parents, and grandparents) on this trip, and everyone was very comfortable and happy in this house. One of the rooms was open to the rest of the house (no door), but with the amazing room-darkening window treatments it was a non-issue. My kids loved the bunk room, and enjoyed doing plays from the balcony of the bedroom with doors that open up to the main floor, and we all enjoyed having camp fires and exploring the nearby hiking trails. An unexpected perk was the well-stocked book shelf; I brought my own reading material but ended up getting drawn into one of the books at the house that I couldn't put down. The hammock was also a fun place to relax after hiking and exploring. In addition to the property itself, Tom went above and beyond to welcome us and help us get oriented. We really enjoyed our stay, and everyone agreed that if we make it back to Alaska as a family, this was a place we'd love to stay at again :)

My girlfriends and I rented the Moonshine Cabin this past weekend for a "Girl's Weekend". We had a wonderful time and loved the "cabin". We're all Alaska residents that either live on the Kenai Peninsula or Anchorage so we're familiar with Hope. As soon as I got to the cabin, I called the home owner, Tom, to let him know that we made it and he gave me a rundown of how everything in the cabin works and was willing to come over and give me a walk through if I needed any help with the heater. Luckily, I have the same stove so that wasn't needed, but his willingness to accommodate was much appreciated. We had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to staying there again sometime in the future!

We had a great stay with our family of 6. The property is beautiful and the cabin is fantastic- our kids were huge fans of the bunk beds! We had a bit of a snow storm (10+ inches!) on the night we arrived and lost power the next morning for a few hours. Tom took excellent care of us, getting us set up with a generator, fresh water and updates on when to expect the power to come back on. Tom took my husband for a tour of Hope and pointed out some things we might enjoy on our stay. You can tell that Tom has a genuine love for Hope, the Moonshine Cabin, and the guests that come to visit! We'll definitely be back this summer!

The only thing I don't agree is from VRBO to advertise a cabin based on 6 to 8 people accommodation as 200 per day but them they add 30 per person per day.
