• Great pics, location perfect.

  First off, not as private as the listing may seem. The owners are directly upstairs the whole time with a giant window looking out and the hot tub just under it. Property was kept up and quaint. For the money in winter I had my reservations. The owners were very sweet and welcoming and the apartment itself was great. Comfortable and clean. Smelled like cigarette smoke the first night so we had to close the vents. I do recommend a stay here, just hope that my review will allow anyone searching properties to know how private it actually is.

• Perfect Place To Stay

  Absolutely perfect location - the shortest walk to National Park where you take a free shuttle to downtown Harpers Ferry and all the beautiful hiking trails. Saves you so much time and money.

  The property is beautiful - so warm and cozy. Dan is a professional artist and a lot of his paintings hang throughout the house. There is also a working fireplace, a gorgeous backyard, a private tiki bar, and (the best part) a hot tub. It was perfection.

  Dan and Diane could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Everything was there -- from coffee and tea to towels for the pool to shampoo and conditioner. They take care of everything. They are so friendly but also so respectful of your privacy, which was perfect. I really hope to return next fall!

  This was our third stay here. The garden is lovely, and the pool and hot tub really enjoyable. The owners are delightful people, very friendly and welcoming, yet respectful of privacy.

  Harpers Ferry has fun river tubing, hiking, and a charming historic village.

• Almost Paradise

  We we're greeted by Dan when we arrived and he made us feel welcomed, he showed us around and also helped us with our luggages. The first thing I noticed upon our arrival was the stench of cigarette smoke in the "apartment". Which I found odd that it specifically states in the instructions no smoking indoor only outdoor. Regardless I'm not a smoker so the smell bothered me our entire stay. I'm not sure if the previous guests were smokers or if the owners are smokers and it just traveled all around the home. We enjoyed most of our stay at the pool and tiki bar. We didn't get a chance to try out the jacuzzi since we were in 100° weather most of the day. The kitchen has everything you need which was great since we decided to get use of the appliances to make our own breakfast. Only complaint is the trash can should be a kitchen trash can not a bathroom trash can. There wasn't any extra trash bags for us to use for the 2 nights we stayed. The bathroom has great counter space, but if you are looking to do your makeup I would suggest getting better lighting. The shower head had zero pressure and this is important for us ladies when washing our hair. We decided to order in food and pass out afterwards. I slept in the 1st room which had a locked door that had a light shining through the entire night. We were both woken up by the owners foot steps a couple times a night which wasn't ideal. We aren't sure if the owners hire a cleaning crew or just clean it themselves - we found a couple spots that weren't very clean. The cleaning fee that is added on even after the guests practically have to clean up a list of duties before departure seems unnecessary. Overall this place was pleasant outdoors, this place definitely needs some improvements indoors. My suggestion is make sure you are comfortable with being under the same roof as the owners before booking.

  Hi Marby, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed the pool and tiki bar! We want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we apologize that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
  - We wish you had reached out during your stay so we could have shared with you that the bathroom lighting can be quite bright because there is a dimmer switch on the wall so guests can adjust the lighting based on personal preferences.
  - We use a cleaning service to have the home professionally cleaned before each guest's arrival. We wish you had reached out to the Guest Contact during your stay if there were any cleaning issues that needed to be addressed.
  - There is a large trash can just outside on the porch, 3 steps from the kitchen door, where guests can empty the smaller kitchen trash can when it gets full. If we had known you had questions, we would have done everything we could to resolve them immediately so that you could enjoy the home.
  - As we share in the listing, the homeowners do live upstairs and try to walk carefully on rugs without shoes to mitigate noise, but the 60-year-old floors do squeak a bit and we apologize for the inconvenience.
  We strive to provide all of our guests with an enjoyable experience and sincerely apologize that your stay fell short of expectations. Thanks for letting us know about your stay!
