This truly is a cabin in the woods. While we were a bit scared and skeptical at first for our girls trip, we made the most of it and enjoyed our time. The place is tidy and quaint. Probably wouldn't chose this place again unless price went down. Make sure to bring your own wood. It is necessary when it's cold, as wood is not provided. And the road to the cabin definitely requires an SUV.

    Manager's Response:
Anna, the homeowner would like to share the following message:

"Thanks for the review, Anna. I have asked Evolve to put information about the cabin’s isolated area purposely so folks don’t have any surprises when they get there. Many people are looking for somewhere to 'get away from it all', and that is pretty clear in the description. Also, there is information about the road, so there shouldn’t be any surprises. Many folks make it just fine in a standard height vehicle but we do recommend something that sits a little higher off of the ground. I'm not sure what you think the cabin should be priced at. It’s two bedrooms with two baths and a large living/kitchen area, with tons of privacy. A decent hotel room will often cost much more than this, and you are getting a unique cabin, built from tobacco barn logs with comfortable furniture and beds. I provide many items your typical rental does not, in terms of quality, like nice flatware and Pfaltzgraff dinnerwear. Many have said I don’t charge enough! Do come visit again. I’d love to have you back."

    Rustic, peaceful getaway

    Reviewed by: Robin S. on

We had a pleasant, peaceful stay after getting used to our surroundings and the house. Very, very rustic with lots of antiques. The porch was nice to watch the leaves fall and feel the warmth of the sun trickle down through the trees. I felt the photos on the VRBO website made the rooms look much, much larger than they actually were. Also, I understand the rustic feel of the house, but the interior walls of the logs need a good vacuuming down. Having at least one drawer available for unpacked clothes would had been nice, too. All in all, we were comfortable.

"I am sorry you felt the cabin was not clean. I have addressed this with the cleaning crew and expect that they will improve wherever needed. I go to the cabin randomly, after it has been cleaned, to specifically check behind the cleaners and feel very confident in the cleaning company’s abilities to provide a high quality of cleaning guests expect. I feel like the reviews speak for themselves as 95% are 5-stars, but I'm sorry that you felt otherwise."

A review of this cabin made me worry that i might regret it. However, nothing could be further from the truth. This cabin and property is exceptional. It was immaculate when we arrived. The grounds had been recently trimmwd and spruced. Every square inch inside was decorated with the utmost care and taste. Not a detail was missed. Directions were perfect and the drive in was quite easy. Our family is ready to return soon. Road rough, we wanted to drive Corvette but elected to drive truck after we got your email on upcoming visit. Yard full of weeds and we didnt want to walk in tall weeds, Front swing in yard not accessible, upstairs bedroom had about 1 inch of dust under beds. Coffee Maker had crud in it.
Totally unacceptable as a rental. We left after the 1st night never to return.

    Manager's Response:
The homeowner takes great pride in providing an immaculate home for each guest and has the property professionally cleaned before every stay. The cleaners have been made aware of your concerns and will make an extra effort to ensure a spotless cabin for future guests. We encourage guests to reach out with any concerns while in residence so we have the opportunity to make things right. We weren't aware of your concerns and haven't had issues like this before. The owner would have been happy to assist and address each problem. The stink bug population in the area has dramatically decreased recently, but as the cabin is in a woodland area, guests may still encounter them. The owner provides guests resources for dealing with them, but we apologize if this wasn't satisfactory. The owner does all they can to ensure guests who stay have the best experience and past guests have only have wonderful things to say about this property. We are confident this cabin will continue to host many satisfied guests. Best, the Evolve Team

Wow! I mean this space is so different than anywhere else I’ve stayed. The cabin is rustic and authentic. It’s extremely charming, cozy and inviting. We never wanted to go anywhere, but with Pilot Mt state park nearby we absolutely had too. That’s not to mention all of the great restaurants that are available. Or all of the excellent vineyards. And small hospitable towns and scenic country roads. This is a place for rest, relaxation and activities to suit any lifestyle. Our recommendation for an upscale dinner is the Harvest Grill at the Shelton Vineyards.

This place is great for folks looking to get off the beaten path/spend some time in a quiet cabin setting. Pay attention to the written directions provided by the host. You’ll need ‘em! Checking in was a breeze. We checked out some of the wineries in the area. You’ll find a number of wineries in the area; we went to a winery as far as 30 minutes and as near as 5 minutes from the cabin. Overall, this place was fantastic and fit four adults and a child quite comfortably. It’s a neat cabin setting. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to allow guests to check out later than 10 a.m. (perhaps even 11 a.m. or 12 p.m.).

Cabin was secluded on six acres of property. GPS brought us right to it. Rustic Cabin, very quiet in the woods. Everything you need to enjoy a great weekend. Very close to many vineyards and hikes. My only complaint is that for an $80.00 cleaning fee, the company who is cleaning needs to be replaced or do a better job. Very dusty and floors were not cleaned. Outside needs to be trimmed up, cleaned, and updated.

But man did this place blow me away! The perfect mix of modern convienences in an old tobacco barn beam log cabin in the middle of the woods and fields. Warm, cozy, rustic, convient to grocery store, gas station, great places to eat (more than 3), vineyards and the interstate all within 5 minutes of this home. The owner, Susan, was incredibly helpful with any questions we had either with the home or the area. Answered the phone every single time and was more than willing to go above and beyond with input. Had absolutely zero issues with the cabin our entire trip. Enjoyed walking around the property and letting my son play in the creek, which has a nice deck built on it with chairs provided. Everything comes included with this cabin and the owner spared no expense making sure all those 'darn I can't believe I forgot thats' are all there. Highly highly reccomend for couples weekend, family get away, base camp for adventures in all the area has to offer. Will definitely be going back! What a gem!

We had some delicious meals that we prepared there, although we would recommend that they get some measuring cups and spoons and some serving plates/platters that are not broken.
