I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to ?get away from it all?. The road to the property is pretty rough (don?t drive it in a sports car), but the wow factor you get when you get there is worth it.

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend getaway. We wanted somewhere cozy and secluded, and this fit the bill perfectly! It was a wonderful place to relax and recharge and we loved sitting on the porch swing listening to the creek. We also loved the outdoor fire pit! The closest town is a 15-20 minute drive. We loved the privacy, but just a heads up if you're looking for something a bit closer to the action. This cabin is a perfect couples retreat!

I?m not sure why it?s advertised as new because it?s certainly not. It was very musty and it needs a deep cleaning to start with and should be cleaned thoroughly between each rental including the floors which is obviously not happening. I had to clean the bathroom sink myself before we could use it because it had hair in it. The dishes in the kitchen cupboard were dirty and disorganized. The refrigerator was absolutely filthy and filled with clutter in the freezer to the point that we couldn?t even fit our ice bag we purchased. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable that we ended up cutting our vacation short and leaving early. It was definitely not worth the 8 hour drive to get there from Texas. If the bed and pillows were changed out and some TLC was given to cleaning and organizing to make it feel inviting to guests, it would make for a much better experience.

Manager's Response: Hi Robin, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay fell short of expectations! It is the industry standard to list a property as “new” if it is new to the vacation rental market, but we do apologize for any confusion. We are also sorry to hear that the cleanliness of the property was unsatisfactory. We take concerns like these seriously – cleanliness is one of our 4 Core Property standards! We have shared your feedback with the homeowner, who has discussed your experience with his cleaning company. In the future, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Evolve directly with any issues you may experience – we are here 7 days a week to support our travelers! Best, the Evolve Team
The area around the cabin is absolutely gorgeous, however the cabin itself needs a thorough cleaning. We found obviously dirty dishes in the cabinets and drawers. This could just be from previous tenants, but it should be checked before the next tenants arrive. We could only find 8 washcloths for 4 people staying four days which meant I had to do laundry while we were there. If it were given a good cleaning and more linens, I would probably have given it a 5.

Manager's Response: Thank you for the feedback. We are glad that overall you enjoyed your stay, but do apologize that the cleanliness of the property was unsatisfactory! Cleanliness is one of our 4 Core Property Standards, the homeowner did assure us they had cleaners go in after your stay to do a deep clean. Thank you again for letting us know. Best, The Evolve Team
Love this cabin and surrounding property. A great little hideaway. We had a great stay. The road getting there was a little rough in spots, but it?s a mountain road. The cabin is in a beautiful setting with a babbling brook. The cabin was quiet and very private. The cabin was overall very nice. The kitchen could use a little attention. I felt I need to wash everything before I used it. There were no kitchen linens so we went to the store and bought some. By the end of the week ,the septic tank started to smell. Overall great cabin, great trip. Love Jasper and the local people are so friendly. We would stay here again.

I spent a week in the cabin with my family and we had a wonderful time. The location was great for exploring the Buffalo River. We were able to bike to the river from the cabin and it felt like our own private stretch of the river - didn't see another person all day! It is also easy to access other points along the Buffalo for kayaking/canoeing and some amazing hiking. The cabin is right on the creek and you can hear the water falling. The two mile drive from the cabin to the paved road is a bit rocky but that also meant peace and quiet for us. There is a grocery store not far away in Jasper with everything you might need. The kitchen in the cabin is well equipped and even has a dishwasher. Wifi worked well.

Two old adages; "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is." and "You get what you pay for.", are suitable to sum up our experience at this property. This cabin had some positives. The location is private and quiet, the showers were hot, and the price was fantastic. However, immediately upon entering, the musty smell was overwhelming. The kitchen was not well stocked but rather the cabinets were disorganized and filled with more random items than useful ones. I had to wash every dish and utensil before I used it, the can opener didn't work, and the dinner I put in the crockpot in the morning was barely warm when we returned eight hours later. There was a platter with visible mold growing on it in the cabinet and there was so much odds and ends that there wasn't even room to store the few days worth of groceries we brought with us. The water is from a well, understandably, but the odor is strong and it was undesirable for cooking or drinking. Additionally, there is no outdoor trash cans so the trash must be inside until you can take it out to the main road on Friday or you take it to the waste management company in town yourself. Therefore, the typical check out instruction "take out the trash" means put it in your car and take it with you. Finally, I have to tell you about the road. It is 20 long minutes of very bumpy road that feels like a lot of wear and tear on your car and is pretty unpleasant. So much so, I didn't want to make that trip more than once day and it impacted our daily activities. The road alone would prevent me from recommending this cabin to friends.

Manager Response: Beth, we are very sorry to hear your stay fell short of expectations, and we thank you for letting us know. We have addressed the Can opener and crockpot issues. One was broken and will be replaced and the other will be a brand-new crockpot. The cabin is in a remote location so the environmental implications and effects on the wildlife there are quite staggering. Minimizing the impact on the environment is a concern so we want to make sure we are taking appropriate steps to protect our guests. We understand that the road is bumpy to get to the cabin. The National Park Service suggests that you drive at 15 MPH or lower to insure safe travel to the cabin. We and the homeowners take feedback from our guests very seriously, and will make sure the necessary adjustments are made so guests know what to expect and may have an exceptional stay in this vacation home.
