    Welcoming historical home

We had an unexpected overnight in BV and were tipped off by a friend to the Teardrop House. A delightful find, a beautifully maintained home with a charming hostess. Immaculately clean, quiet and private yet an easy two block walk to shops, food and brews. The front porch is perfect for morning coffee or sunset setting. Highly recommended and reasonably priced - we're ready for a return visit. We were lucky to be there during the week as it was fully booked for the weekend.

This house was a very nice location for a stay in Buena Vista. The yard is fenced and pretty. One can walk to the old town area, and a park is nearby. I did not give it 5 stars for two reasons: 1. I did not have a good experience with Evolve while trying to book and plan this trip. There were huge delays in communication on their side. And at one point, it seemed they were trying to invoke additional charges to the rental agreement that were not applicable. I would have to say, my experience with Evolve was the worst I have had with any rental company to date. 2. The parking driveway was described as being for 3 vehicles...and it is. Do not expect to park 3, however, if you have a group gathering. The owner actually lives in this house when it is not being rented. She keeps a trailer parked in the driveway. Lovely Inn to stay at. Walk to town for shops and restaurants. Our stay was two nights. We had a nice night by the fire with our inn keeper Grace. She was welcoming and friendly. Very best.

This historical house is just as beautiful and comfortable as depicted in the photos and overview.

This house offered us a rare opportunity to stay in a Victorian-period house registered on the list of historical places. The house looks like it does in the photos, like a museum or boutique shop, and it was decorated very nicely for the holidays. Although it looks too delicate for young children and we had only adults in our party, I am sure young children would do fine in the house because most of the fragile items are visible but safely out of reach. It is clean, well-maintained and furnished beautifully with sturdy functional antique pieces and updated with modern kitchen, lighting, heating, plumbing and entertainment systems. The large kitchen is well-equipped with antique gas stove and ample electrical outlets and appliances, and a sitting area upstairs has a Keurig machine and water dispenser. There's a breakfast nook in the kitchen and a beautifully finished antique table for eight in the dining room off the kitchen. Parking is ample for at least three vehicles, and it's easy to move things in and out of the house through the mudroom off the kitchen. Two family members, including one who is less able to climb stairs, stayed in the downstairs bedroom with two twin-sized beds and a half-bath, and the rest of us shared the three bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs. The master bathroom is accessible from both the master bedroom and the hallway. Every room in the house has its own thermostat and electrical baseboard heating system. There was ample hot water and plenty of outlets, lights, towels, racks and room for hanging or storing clothes. Bring your own favorite pillow and slippers or shoes to wear inside the house. The den, living room and master bedroom have gas or electrical fireplaces. The owner checked us in, gave us a tour of the house and made herself available if needed. Located in a quiet neighborhood near the center of town, it is easy to find and get to and from along the major roads running in and out of town. From here we were able to go skiing and snowshoeing at Monarch, Ski Cooper or Leadville driving along US 24 or US 285, to drive up Cottonwood Canyon, and to visit the hot springs and restaurants located along Main Street. We had a nice view of Mt Princeton from inside the house. This is rare, beautiful place to stay while it's still affordable. *Originally posted on Homeaway/VRBO for a stay in December 2016
