Beautiful, well kept old county Vermont farmhouse.

    Reviewed by: Brianne on

A charming and comfortable farmhouse that was a perfect getaway for a girls weekend. We enjoyed snowshoeing and sitting in the hot tub. The website was a little deceiving in that a few of the amenities are no longer available with the rental; the big red stove in the kitchen, the sauna, and DVD player. Next time we will take advantage of the spa attached to the house and book ahead of time. All in all though it was a good weekend and would love to see the house in the heart of Vermont summer!

Thanks so much for a memorable gathering of old friends. We had a lovely time skiing at the nearby Craftsbury Outdoor Center and really appreciated the hot tub and sauna for the apres-ski! Cooking on the AGA was a fun experience and resulted in some great meals during our stay. The place was a hit with the crew and I'm grateful as some had considered a lower-cost and more "rustic" choice. This clearly was worth the bit more for all the amenities!

Best Rental Home I Have Ever Stayed In!

    Reviewed by: Regina W. on

What an amazing place. You could hear the oohs and ahhs from everyone as we walked though the house for the first time. I coordinated a ski trip for a party of 11 and when I saw this place, I thought it was too good to be true. Spacious, ideal location for the mountains, 5 bathrooms, a hot tub and priced just right, this house suited all of our needs. The classic farmhouse decor made the home feel authentic and historic. The kitchen was fully stocked with not only appliances and cooking utensils, but also condiments and spices that we had forgotten! Tom and Lisa were the best of rental owners and neighbors. We could be a rowdy bunch at times and not once were we asked to quiet down. They were kind and helpful and didn't expect much of us as guests which took stress off our shoulders. Our only complaint is that the back door handle was broken which was a struggle for getting out of the hot tub lol, but other than that, everything was great. Thank you so so much! If we ever plan to go up to northern Vermont again, this is where we will stay. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone.

We got the grand Tour by Tom which really added to the experience. The house was extremely affordable as well (especially considering all the amenities included) I especially loved how we could enjoy the beauty and experience of staying in a historic house and at the same time we were able to enjoy technology like wifi, an amazing hot tub, a sauna room, and the house also came with its very own, "Alexa" to play whatever you wanted throughout the house. We absolutely loved it and would stay there again in a heartbeat!!

Nine of us went to Vermont for a family wedding at nearby Greensboro and we loved our stay at the Craftsbury Farmhouse. The six bedrooms were just as the photos promised. We spent most of our time in the dining/gathering room and had no trouble cooking on the AGA stove. The house was well supplied with cooking utensils, dishes, place ware, and linens. (Based on our other experiences with vacation rentals, this is not always the case.) There were lots of games, books and sing-alongs (thanks to the music left on the piano) to get us through the rainy time. The landscaping, gardens and stream were beautiful. Due to the wedding activities we were not able to use the sauna and hot tub as much as we had wanted. The host/owners were most helpful, recommending restaurants, grocery stores, and places to visit. Regarding communication connectivity, -- although cell service was not always available, three of us had computers and we never had any problems connecting to the internet. The provided "Alexa" always had connectivity to provide our music and answer our jeopardy questions. -- great fun. We certainly would recommend this home -- especially for large family gatherings.

This is a fabulous rental!- Rented this place as a home base for 6 bridesmaids for a friend's wedding. The owners left us 2 bottles of Prosecco in the fridge as a congratulations/welcome, that's just how nice they are. We wound up having most of the out of town guests (about 30 ppl) for dinner unexpectedly one night and far from objecting, the owner wished I'd told her earlier so she could help out. The property is beautiful with lots of little nooks and corners to wander off to and enjoy the scenery. The rooms are a good size with 3 bathrooms split between them. The pictures do not show that the owner house is attached but they are very unobtrusive and polite. We never felt awkward about having them around or using any part of the property. The only 2 things to know are: 1. there is no A/C and we were there in the middle of summer. Not a problem for most of the house since it's VT but their stove is an AGA which meant the kitchen was a little uncomfortable in the middle of the day but totally workable and we should be outside at that time anyway! 2. There's no cell reception in the area. However, there is wifi so as long as someone has (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or imessage you can still get in touch with whoever has run into town for groceries, but it is a consideration in planning. Overall a beautiful place to have an event or just take a quiet vacation. Money well spent!

The photos and the description do not do this place justice. It is a large, well appointed, rambling farmhouse with plenty of room to spread out. We had 10 adults and everyone had a place to retreat if he or she needed some quiet time. The bedrooms are individually decorated and all really adorable. Multiple bathrooms were great with this many adults. The outdoor area is gorgeous! There is an outdoor table up a small hill and beautiful plantings all around. The hosts offer use of a large and wonderful screened porch. We had fun playing family card games in the living room. It is located in a very rural area so we were not able to get cell phone coverage but we knew that when we rented the house. I understand the Hosts are working on getting better cell coverage. We were here for a family wedding and it was an ideal set-up for our two families. The Hosts are wonderful people. I have high expectations and Craftsbury Farmhouse exceeded them.

We held our family reunion here this past Labor Day Weekend. It was the perfect location for a diverse group . The backyard is amazing, with activities for all levels of fitness. Here is a list of what we did out there : croquet, hill rolling, yoga, finding crayfish in the stream (and respectfully observing, not grabbing, them, haha), meandering, raspberry and blackberry picking, picture taking, hot tubbing, beer tasting, picnicking, exploring the woods.

The house itself has all of the essential parts to a successful weekend with a family. There was a suite for the family with the baby. There was a downstairs bedroom for parents who don't want to negotiate stairs. There was a large kitchen and stove (AGA, my first time cooking on one). There was a screened in porch that could seat twelve comfortably for dinner . Etc etc- if you are trying to entertain a large group this is the place to do it . Also may personal touches are evident, from the Laura Ashley-decorated girl's bedroom to the numerous towels in every one of the 5 bathrooms.

The couple who manages this property were responsive, professional and easy to deal with. They even made brownies that were on the counter when we arrived. What a welcome ! I would stay here again in a second: the hot tub was clean, the house was clean and comfortable. I can't even think of a suggestion for making it better because they've thought of many small touches that made it feel like home. What a good find in the Northeast Kingdom - 5 stars and then some !
