Beautiful home and view. Owners very helpful and kept us updated to weather changes. Love the porch overlooking Lake Catherine with the sound of the waves, birds and clouds.

My wife and I spent nine days here with our sons (2 year old and 3 month old) and my wife?s mother. We had one of the best vacations ever. The house is clean, neat, spacious, and well-appointed. Whitney, our contact person for the property, was wonderful to work with throughout our trip. I had been to New Orleans before, but never traveled much outside the city. I highly recommend experiencing the eastern lakes region. The house is situated on a beautiful stretch of Lake St. Catherine approximately 40 minutes from downtown New Orleans. It?s an easy drive, which we made on a daily basis. The house is elevated to protect from floods. There are about 26 stairs to the top, but there?s also an elevator. The elevator is a bit intimidating to use at first, but we quickly got comfortable with it. The house has a large dock that stretches out quite a long way over the water. Again, initially a bit intimidating, especially with two little children, but we quickly got used to it and spent a ton of time out on the dock with our kids fishing, crabbing (I counted eight crab traps), taking in the sights (pelicans, herons, lots of other wildlife) and the absolutely gorgeous sunrises. We caught sixteen crabs, which we boiled and ate (so fresh and delicious!), as well as numerous fish (the catfish was literally the best I?ve ever eaten). I think the location is perfect. We traveled west towards New Orleans and enjoyed Jazz Fest, Audubon Zoo and Aquarium, River Walk, walked through the French Quarter, and ate amazing food in the city. We traveled east towards the Mississippi state line and went on a swamp tour (Cajun Encounters - highly recommend), beautiful marina and seafood restaurant in Slidell called Phil?s, and we ultimately made our way into MS to a little town called Bay St. Louis. This is a must if you stay at the house. It took us just a tad over 30 minutes to drive there. Gorgeous, huge, white sand beach right on the Gulf coast. The town is filled with restaurants, oyster bars, antique shops, cool little boutiques, and lots of southern charm and hospitality. It was probably the highlight of our trip. Overall, we had one of the best vacations ever and are looking forward to visiting again.

Owners went out of their way to help us in anyway we needed. To answering questions, replacing the microwave ( w/ in an hour). Would highly recommend spending time in their beautiful home and talking/ texting with home owners. Wonderful people!!!

Comfortable, clean and equipped Fish Camp with all the modern amenities on Lake St. Catherine with Lake Pontchartrain across the street. Quiet oasis from the NOLA mayhem. A few restaurants 15 minutes away...not much close by other than bait shops. Beautiful views and dock.

This our fifth time staying at Island Highrise and we love it! Fishing under the light at night is so much fun especially when you are catching lots of speckle trout and we did catch a lot of speckle trout this weekend. Crabbing is fun also and just relaxing on the porch or underneath the house on the swing is very nice! We will be back!

This our 3rd stay at this Lake House, we also stayed at another owned by the same owners. The owners keep their homes immaculate and stocked with the items listed. We love fishing from the pier and crabbing off the pier. If you are looking for a relaxing get a way or a place to stay close to the city this is the place to rent!

We enjoy this home on St. Lake Catherine so much that this was our second stay at this home, we also spent another weekend at another home owned by the same owners. We enjoy fishing, crabbing and just relaxing and hanging out. The home is very well decorated and stocked with everyday needs. You won't be disappointed!

My family and I, total of 7 adults stayed at this beautiful property. Views are stunning. We particularly enjoyed the sunrise. Kids had a great time playing by the water. Property is clean and well kept. I will definitely visit again. Thank you Whitney, we made some wonderful memories!

The crickets sounded wonderful, and there are so many stars at night. The hubbub of the city is left behind and all we had to do was relax and enjoy this amazing property. The "lake for a backyard" is pretty amazing. My two boys bought some fishing rods from the local Walmart, and when we weren't out attending Mardi Gras parades, we were enjoying fishing and the excitement of baiting crab traps for dinner. I enjoyed a few glasses of wine on the large and beautiful veranda, but make sure you use some bug spray. Whitney, the owner is awesome , she actually had bug supplies available for us, and all the fixings for a lovely holiday including coffee, extra blankets, cozy dishes and a beautiful kitchen to prepare a meal should you want to to stay in. The drive is a bit more then half an hour to New Orleans, but it was quite an eye opener seeing parts of Louisiana, not from the view of the French Quarter but, from more of a local and, realistic perspective. I have 5 kids ages 6, all the way up to 15, and if they weren't outside investigating the water and rocks, they were playing games together, or watching as much tv as they were possible allowed. This is well worth the booking.

I was glad that I found this house for my family vacation. Every member really enjoyed our stay. We liked the fresh air in the morning and the peaceful view of the house. I will book this again if we have a chance to come back New Orleans. *This review was originally posted on VRBO for a stay in Jun-16
I lived in New Orleans for 20 years so it's always special to return, especially with my family, who did not grow up in New Orleans. This home made it even more special, it is everything anyone could ask for. Right in the middle of Slidell and New Orleans and seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The lake views were fantastic the fishing was great ( we caught red fish, drum, stingrays, Croakers, catfish, flounder and a couple others we didn't identify) and the crabbing was even better. This home was modern and had all the features necessary, a fully stocked kitchen with a great assortment of pots pans and dishes, three smart TVs, washer and dryer and extremely fast Wi-Fi. I will always remember the great views of sunrise and sunset and a long private walk over the water. The homeowner/hostess gave you your space and at the same time was very attentive, when needed. The home is set up perfect for the entire family, very cozy well organized and clean. No worries about the stairs when it comes to ice chests and luggage as the cargo lift is a savior. Just make sure you schedule more than a couple of days because a couple of days will not be enough and you will not want to leave. Thank you for a great time! *Originally posted on VRBO September 2016
Fishing off of the pier is lots of fun, baiting and raising the crab traps is a lot of fun! The home is very comfortable with everything you need, just bring your fishing poles, bait for the crab traps and any personal items and food for cooking! Stores and restaurants are a short drive away!

The lakehouse was all we expected and more! It was very clean and accommodating. They had Starbucks coffee to offer us as guests, as well as all the necessities to make our trip go smoothly, i.e. Laundry facilities etc. I would recommend this for anyone who visits NOLA

This home was perfect for our Easter weekend getaway. The house is beautiful and immaculate. Everything you need is right there! Our favorite feature was the deck with a waterfront view...it is definitely a million dollar view! My fiance and dad loved fishing off the dock. They caught some speckled trout and catfish. The house is a about 40 minutes from downtown, but it was easy to get there! It was nice being able to have a quiet place to come back to after a night in the French Quarter. I highly recommend this house for families and couples! I would love to go back!

The property was beautiful. Everything is as suggested, by the description. Just make sure you have some good knees (to climb up the stairs) and some bug repellent (if you plan to sit on the deck). I would definitely rent this property again, with no hesitation!

We rented this property for a week to attend Jazz Fest and to explore New Orleans for the first time. The house is located about 35 miles East of New Orleans on Lake St. Catherine. As most house on the lake, this one is 20 feet in the air! We were pleasantly surprised to find a freight elevator that we could use to transport our luggage up to the house! The three bedrooms served us well. Each had a king sized bed with comfortable mattresses. If you're short, you'll need a running start to get into the beds as they sit quite high off the floor! :-) The house was clean and well furnished, with a full kitchen and laundry room. We were very relieved to find that the home does have central air conditioning although not mentioned in the property description. The back deck was perfect for gazing at Lake St. Catherine and the long walk out the dock to the boat launch deck was worth it for the view! Be careful, the dock does not have hand rails, so it is important to look straight ahead, and not at the water or you'll get disorientated and wind up in the water! Luckily, nobody fell in, but rails would be comforting. Being so far from New Orleans, you'll need a car to get back and forth. The highway is very simple to navigate and we had no problems finding all the sites we wanted to visit. The well water is not drinkable, so you'll need bottled water for your stay. As I mentioned, it is 35 miles from the French Quarter and this is both good and bad. Good - you get away from the city and enjoy the beautiful lake view. Bad - you do spend an hour for the trip into and back from the city. Access to the house is by keypad and the owner contacted me prior to our arrival to give me the code. Good communications gave us confidence in our rental and the owner was available for any questions we had. Very responsive! You will be please with this house as it has all the amenities necessary and is clean and up to date.

The house itself was very accommodating and the owner was extremely nice. Inside the house was very clean, updated and very relaxing. The only downside is the distance from civilization. You are in the back of nowhere. You are about 35 mins from bourbon street and the airport. everything else was on point.
The house was very nice. Only thing that was bad was that the 20 mins from Burbon is misleading it was about 35 mins, but all in the all the house was nice and everything was well organized
