House met needs for the quick 2 day family weekend. Views were great when the fog lifted, which sadly was rare. Circular staircase a little problematic for our crew of toddlers but homemade barricades fixed that.

The house is gorgeous and in a great location. Cute trail down the street. It was great. The check in was awful. They gave us an incorrect check in code and we had to sit outside for three hours while we attempted to get in touch with the house manager, who was on a flight. Eventually the home owner was contacted and gave us the correct code. So for my friends who drove in from out of state, it was horribly inconvenient. We had brought hundreds of dollars worth of groceries to cook, almost all of the ice had melted from our coolers by the time we actually got in. They did give us a late check out, but only after I pointed out that the house manager and company were playing the blame game. The hot tub also didn't have a manual, so it went cold after one use and we had to YouTube how to fix it. All that being said, if the company who rents this house can get it all straightened out, it's a great place to stay. Bring extra toilet paper tho, and extra towels.

    Manager's Response:
Mackenzie, it's great to hear you enjoyed this beautiful home overall and its location, but we're very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced checking in. We appreciate that you reached out to us so the homeowner could provide you with the code to enter. This property regularly receives glowing feedback, and we are confident the scenario you encountered won't recur for the next guests. Thank you for letting us know and for giving us the means to create five-star experiences moving forward. Best, the Evolve Team

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this house. The only problem we had was with the hot tub. The indoor hot tub was the reason we got this house but it never got hot. It kept going into sleep mode and would not stay hot. Otherwise, the house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked and updated nicely.

    Slightly disappointed

    Reviewed by: Scott G. on

    Comment:

One of the main reasons we chose this house to rent in January 2018 was because of the advertised indoor hot-tub. Well it was there, but we arrived and found it half full of water and unusable. Filter was very dirty and it was obvious that the chemicals had been ignored for a long time. So, no hot-tubbing after ski days for us. Otherwise the kitchen was newly remodeled, rest of the house needs it next. Some uneven floors in the house. All bathrooms are dated, some had broken knobs etc. And the heating system needs updating. We found the house set at 55 degrees, immediately set the temp up to 75. By the morning it had only risen to 69. And for the rest of the weekend it only got up to 72 max....which was fine. Driveway is very steep, thank goodness we had chains for our Jeep - they are essential for this house in snow/ice - be prepared. Overall, I would choose another place to stay next time.

Manager's Response: Hi Scott, We are sorry to hear that your stay fell short of expectations! We strive to ensure that all of our properties are as-advertised and guest-ready, and we do apologize that you were unable to use the hot tub during your stay! Based on their guests’ feedback, the homeowner has changed their hot tub service company and introduced a new treatment system to enhance the experience of their future guests. Thank you for letting us know about your stay, and we hope to have the opportunity to travel with you again in the future! Best, the Evolve Team

This is a classic mid century round house on Beech Mountain. The kitchen is brand new and completely stocked with everything you need to cook meals: all new items. We loved the view and the local contact for help was quick and responsive. The cabin desperately needs a new couch and seating for more than four in the living room area, and new mattresses. Overall, a great place to stay.

It?s a nice home and definitely worth renting, especially being so close to Beech Mountain. It?s warm, clean, and cozy. That said, the indoor hot tub, which was one of the features that caused us to rent this house, never got past 88 luke warm degrees, so we never used it. There weren?t any instructions for its usage, so we just resigned ourselves to not using it, even after a hard day on the slopes. Also, though it has a nice fireplace, be sure to bring your own firewood because it?s not provided. It is also up a steep driveway, so if you come after a snowfall, you need snowchains or 4 wheel drive to make it up. We had to park at the bottom and carry all our luggage up the steep driveway. Still, it is a nice place with a great view and location at an attractive price.

We enjoyed our time at the "Round House." It was a great place to connect with family. We were disappointed with the mattresses on the beds. It appeared instead of replacing mattresses, toppers were added and the beds were uncomfortable. The couch in the living room also needs to be replaced. We left a day early because we all needed a good nights sleep. We enjoyed the new kitchen and it was sufficient for cooking a Thanksgiving meal. The kids especially enjoyed the deer that were around the house. Parking was good for 4 vehicles. We had enough bathrooms for 8 adults and 2 children. Overall we had a great time as a family.

View is stunning, the location was terrific, the rooms are comfortable, the hotub room and living room were great for hanging out! The dining area is not big enough for ten people and the den pull out couch has a old thin mattress. Both not a big deal if you have an air mattress and don't mind eating in the living room. The temperature had to be set just right (67) to not get too warm in the night. Common with large cabins but a balance between day and night. Make sure to bring things like cooking oil, Tupperware or foil covering, dish washer pods, towels for hot tub. (Hot tub fits 2-3 men comfortably) In the early morning we saw a big family of deer peacefully making their way down the mountain on our side. So beautiful with the sunrise on the mountains! Overall, we had good service and a great stay. We would definitely come back! ( By the way, make sure you research eating out in Beech Mountain before driving from restaurant to restaurant to find out that they are either closed or out of everything you want. . . The town doesn't seem very equipped for tourist season in my opinion. Best to either research well, or go to Banner Elk or just go to the Beech mountain resort. However, the service and view at Jackelopes View was awesome! Great breakfast.)

My family of 7 plus a grand child had a very pleasant stay for 5 days. We had plenty of room and we didn't even need the two pullout couches. The driveway wasn't horrible, but it did ice over in the morning, so it was a bit sketchy going down the hill. The 3 person hot tub was nice after a long day on the slopes. WiFi kept the teenagers happy

Enjoyable location and view! The hot tub sadly was too chlorinated for us to use. Every time we turned it on, the entire house would have the fumes of chlorine. We did run out of trash bags, dish soap, and paper towels for our short weekend. Lastly, the beds were uncomfortable to sleep on. Besides that, we loved having the space for all our friend to have fun and enough space!! *This review was originally posted on AirBnb for a stay in Aug-16

We had a great time at the Mountain House. The indoor hot tub was perfect after hitting the slopes. The Beech Mountain Resort gave us a hard time about parking, but once we explained that we were renting one of the homes in the club, pulled out the email, and proved we were renting, they let us park closer. It was fun with 80's weekend, and even though it was foggy and icy, there were plenty of fun activities. It was difficult to get up the driveway even with 4 wheel drive due to the ice, so prep with chains, and shovels to break it up, because there is no space to park at the bottom.

Overall great house, very clean and comfortable. Not ideal for people with small children due to metal spiral staircase without adequate fencing. Driveway is very steep and it was iced over and impossible to navigate when we were there in January.

    Manager Response:
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay overall. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are aware of the issues you have mentioned. Life in the mountains in the winter does present some driving challenges. The owners are planning a project this spring to divert the water from the spring at the top of our driveway to a drainage area beside the driveway. This project should prevent icing conditions in the future. They are also addressing the spiral staircase issue with the installation of a series of decorative panels that will also act a safety barrier for the stairway. We hope to host you again for a future booking. -The Evolve Team
