From here, you’ll be walking distance from the marina and less than 1 mile from the West End Beach on West Bay. You’ll love the fact that you can hop on the nearby TART bike trail and cycle right into town without being in traffic! After a busy day of activities, walk just 2 minutes down the road to enjoy a drink outside on the water at Apache Trout and Grill - you won’t find a more pleasant or convenient way to unwind!

Sailing on Grand Traverse Bay is a definite highlight in the area, and both Tall Ship Manitou and Sailing Yacht Scout offer wonderful options for getting out on the water. Schooner House is located 15 minutes away from Suttons Bay, 30 minutes from Leland, and 30 minutes from Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore, which boasts stunning beaches, 500-foot-high dunes, and a multitude of hiking trails, certain to please even the most discerning outdoor enthusiasts. Great 4 bedroom location. 4 couples went and we had a blast. Awesome location just a block off the water, 1.5 mile jog or bike ride on the tart trail into town or head to suttons bay! We will be back.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was nice to be able to call a business who answered the phone. It was I little hard to find in the dark. A diagram showing the location would have been helpful. Also a the diagram could show where the key box was located.

The house is is very cute and charming! The pictures do not do it justice. All of the bedrooms were very comfortable and offered ample space for everyone. The living and dining rooms were large and easily accommodated our group of seven. The bathrooms were clean. I wasn't sure if there were extra towels or not, but I am sure that is something that could easily be asked for. The house is located very close to downtown Traverse City. You could definitely walk there is the summer, or cab would be very cheap as well. I went for a run from the home and there is a nice little trail right down the street to jump onto. One of the days I ran towards down and ran through the adorable neighborhoods in the area. My family and I went wine tasting on towards Sutton's Bay and on Mission Peninsula. The location was very close to both places. *This review was originally posted on VRBO for a stay in Dec-15

This property was exactly as described. It was even larger on the inside than the pictures showed. The hosts had clean towels, separate A/C units in every room, and a large back yard. The property is located right across the street from Lake Michigan, and a few blocks away from Tom's Grocery Store. Kitchen was fully stocked with various cooking equipment and utensils and plenty of hot water for 8 people. There was a propane grill on the deck, fire pit with wooden seats, and lots of outdoor seating. I would highly recommend this property for large groups especially since it is less than a 5 minute drive from downtown Traverse.

Our stay at schooner house was definitely a perfect weekend. Very easy to find. We happened to run in to the owner on the property upon check in, who greeted us warmly and professionally. After entering the home, it became apparent how well kept and clean this property is. Plus, plenty of space for us to stretch out and relax; such a comfortable and quiet area of town. Very convenient to get to the grocery store and all the fun activities around town. Weather didn't permit to spend time grilling on the deck, or to have a fire in the pit (snow in May - got to love Michigan). I would definitely book another stay here in the future!

Fantastic stay between Christmas and new years. Plenty of room for everybody. The location is about as good as it gets - easy access to everything. Had a snowstorm one night and the owner had us shoveled out the next morning. Highly recommended.

There was plenty of space for everyone. All the bedrooms were very nicely set up and the air mattress was very comfortable. The dining area and living area were large and good for a group of 9. Location was great, close to the water and not too far from town. Good spot to get picked up for wine tours. Overall the place was perfect for us!

We had a wonderful girls' weekend at Schooner House. The home was cute and comfortable. More than enough room for seven women staying there. It was clean and had everything we needed. If I had any quibbles it would be that the wifi was spotty at times - we had to unplug and restart it a couple of times - and the bath towels were tiny. The house is very close to downtown Traverse City and you can walk to the Bay. We did have to drive to get downtown, but it was 3-5 min drive...very easy!

Schooner house worked well for a family of five-- two parents and three young adults. Location is a 10 minute walk from a family friendly, not crowded beach. Pleasant walk to coffee shop and grocery. Bike trail nearby. Kitchen was well equipped for dinner gatherings on the deck. We would consider returning.

We are a group of three families with 3 children staying in this house for 3 night to celebrate the July 4 weekend. The house is very clean with all the necessary amenities you need from a vacation house. The location is great, close to the beach and the center of the city. The backyard is big for kids to play all types of sports they like. We also had a wonderful night outside with fire, which is an extra for our stay.

Overall I recommend this house to those who would travel to Traverse City for a vacation, and you will enjoy your whole stay with this choice.

This was a nice stay - good location, less than 10 minutes to downtown, & just up the Leelenau Peninsula. It was kind of an odd location, in a seemingly little industrial area with few other houses around. The house was clean, spacious & had everything we needed. This was our first house rental & it was a nice experience. We would do it again.

    Great rental

    Comment:

This was my first VRBO experience, and it was an excellent choice. We were in Traverse City from downstate for a wedding. The 4 bedrooms gave us and our 3 grown children (2 have moved from Michigan to other states) the ideal spot to all be under the same roof for a wonderful family weekend. What a better option than 4 separate hotel rooms! The only negative was the surprising absence of a corkscrew in the otherwise very well-equipped kitchen. That was turned into a positive as we all enjoyed watching the clever actions of one of our sons. He put the bottom of the wine bottle into a shoe to cushion it and repeatedly tapped it on the deck rail until the cork worked its way out. I expect the owner will see this review and make sure a corkscrew is there for future guests :-)

I am very picky about rentals and I stayed here with a friend and I would refer anyone I know to this place!! A must to do while you are in Traverse City is the tall sailing ship " Manitou". Tell Captain Dave on the Manitou Cindy from Kentucky said hello! I know you will fall in love with the area just like I have.
