    Perfect house in Breckenridge

    Comment:

The house was perfect for our group of friends having a mini reunion/ski trip. More than enough space including beds and bathrooms for our group of 13. The basketball court was a great amenity that we got to use, despite being reminded shortly into playing that we were at 9000 ft! The location was perfect. We were able to drive into town and be at the gondola in 10 minutes. Kitchen was fully stocked with more than enough plates, mugs, utensils, etc. After a long day of skiing, it was great to come back to the warm hot tub while we started preparing dinner. This place really had everything we needed and more. If you have a large group, this is a great house to stay in while you enjoy Breck.

Has a few signs of wear and tear but it is over 10 years old so that is to be expected.

Sapphire Lodge was the perfect choice for our Colorado vacation with friends. The house is in a beautiful neighborhood, just minutes from all that Breck has to offer. Not only is the house well maintained, it had everything that we needed to make our getaway perfect. The washer and dryer are a plus with kiddos in tow. And the bedroom with bunk beds was a big hit. We all enjoyed the indoor basketball court - complete with ping pong table. Nothing is better than relaxing in the hot tub after our days of hiking, rafting and having fun. Each bedroom is beyond comfortable and they all have their own humidifier - a big plus when you're not used to the altitude and the dry climate!!! The media room downstairs is huge with a super comfy sofa. A great place to watch a movie or play a board game. We loved being able to grill, the back deck has amazing views, and the kids loved being able to watch the deer and other wildlife. Long story short, we will definitely be making another trip to Sapphire Lodge. What a great place to stay. Reviewer location Austin, Texas

The property was amazing, great 'winter lodge' feel. Kitchen led right into the main and dining rooms, creating a large open space to congregate with a group. Short drive to both Breckenridge and Keystone slopes. Would absolutely go back there again. Only downside was the lack of attention to some basic amenities in the house. There were no sponges to clean pots/ pans, very few towels per bathroom with no spares, no laundry detergent for the washing machine. These minor points did not change our overall impression of the house, however!

It was gorgeous from the outside - we couldn't wait to see the inside! The Sapphire Lodge is remarkable with a gorgeous entry way & as you ascended the stairs you couldn't help but notice how clean it was as well as absolutely beautiful! The three bedrooms were not only spacious & very comfortable but also had bathrooms off of each which was nice for privacy. The bunk room was very big & comfortable for the kids, they loved it! The kitchen was gorgeous as well as very functional for several people at once. And it was really organized with labeled spaces for what went where. A fully stocked pantry was a nice surpise & of course - labeled for good organization! The movie room downstairs was more than spacious & the WII was a nice bonus for the kids! I really liked the huge laundry room/area! The back patio was nice to sit out on and visit while others enjoyed the hot tub. It was SO nice to come home after playing all day & relax in the hot tub!!! We didn't want to leave! It was just so comfortable for everyone! The basketball court, foosball table & ping pong table were a wonderful perk to this already great experience. My husband and I just returned from, probably, the best vacation we have been on in Breckenridge. (and we visit 2-3 times a year!) Just minutes from Breck's main street area, we found this home comfortable, and cozy with amenities that allowed us to relax and enjoy the mountain air. In the morning we enjoyed watching the sun come up the neighboring mountain. In the evening, a dip in the jacuzzi waiting for the stars to make their appearance. The indoor basketball court made for some friendly competition. And the private entertainment room made for excellent movie nights. My favorite area of the home was the family room with a cozy fireplace and open to the kitchen and breakfast areas. The home is equipped with everything we needed and very well organized. The home instructions and general information handbook are very informative. And the location is so close to Main Street Breckenridge but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town. We are already planning our return with family this winter.

The cleanliness of the property was immaculate in all aspects. The property is less than 10 mins. to the gondola to peak 8 or the lifts at peak 9. We have visited Breckenridge many times and stayed a many different properties, but after staying at the sapphire lodge we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else again. It was perfect!

The adults loved the spacious rooms with private bathrooms, large living spaces with plenty of sitting room, laundry facility, easy access to downtown Breckenridge, and I could go on and on about the gorgeous open kitchen that is stocked with all utensils, cookware, and serving pieces needed for several large meals. The multiple eating areas (bar top , breakfast table, and large dining table) make it very comfortable to share meals with a large group. Long and short of it is that we never wanted to leave and our next visit will definitely be at Sapphire Lodge!

Ryan, thanks so much for sharing your review! The homeowner appreciates your feedback and would like to respond:

"Ryan, Thank you for your review. We always appreciate the constructive feedback from our guests. We are happy you enjoyed your large family gathering as we love hearing from people making wonderful memories at our house. As we mention in our house description, the gondola is a short 5 minutes from the house. I have never timed the drive up the mountain to the drop-off at Peak 8 so I am happy to have that information.

We have heard from a couple of guests regarding the dishware and will be purchasing this new for the house as soon as we can source something nice and durable. It is important to us to hear things like this. We always strive to meet our guests needs so they can enjoy their stay and hopefully come back in the future and also refer our house to their friends. The house was more beautiful and exquisite than expected. We stayed for five days and the place felt very homey. The rooms/ bathrooms are all large and very nice along with the rest of the house. The entire house was very clean, no complaints at all. The overall feel of the house is luxurious and cozy. We really enjoyed the back patio. The weather was perfect throughout our stay so we spent a lot of time on the beautiful back patio either relaxing at the table or in the hot tub admiring the wild flowers that surround the property. The basketball court, ping pong table and foosball table ended up being a nice treat. We spent majority of our time hiking around the area but the house itself has enough entertainment to have kept us busy for the week. The location of the house was superb as we were able to get to beautiful hiking trails within 10-15min by car. We took a cab into town one evening and the fare was reasonable due to the short commute. Overall, I would highly recommend this property to a friend. We had a more than a pleasant stay and hopefully will be able to enjoy this lodge again soon.

    Peaceful

    Reviewed by: Cynthia on

    Comment:

Just returned from a family reunion at the Sapphire Lodge. The home is undoubtedly very peaceful. I was amazed at the attention to detail and the quality of materials in the construction of the home, built in 2002. The master bedroom and the other two main bedrooms are all on the same level. The hot tub and deck are on that same level making it a little easier for visitors with handicaps. The home is not handicap accessible though. Our main complaint was the kitchen and the lack of quality utensils and dishes. The only 10 inch non-stick skillet should have been replaced years ago. What's a kitchen without a wooden spoon? Our family cooked elaborate dinners each night with much difficulty. There were no salad bowls, no microwave cookware, not a single sharp knife to be found, no colander and no decent dinner plates, other than plastic. I was well prepared with my food purchases and spices, but didn't bring salt and pepper. The only few spices left behind, were either empty or expired years ago. The upper oven wasn't working either during our stay. It was reported to the management but was told that appliance repairmen don't work on weekends. Fortunately the lower oven worked. We did love the hot-tub, although we had to chase down the hot-tub cleaning fellow, as he locked us out of our hot-tub during our stay saying his paperwork was wrong? Being from Texas and escaping the summer heat, we loved the plethora of wild flowers. They were beautiful. All in all, we did enjoy the home, but with more travelers desiring to cook healthy meals at home, please consider updating the kitchen. Also a few more tea towels would be appreciated.

    Owner's Response:
Cynthia, Thank you for your review. We always appreciate feedback from our guests as it helps us continue to improve our home for future guests. My apologies for the upper-oven not working. We can never anticipate when an appliance will break and it is often difficult to get immediate service since I think all the repair folks are hiking, camping or skiing on the weekends. Good thing we have 2 ovens in the house! We take great pride in the condition of the house, especially the kitchen. We frequently stay at the house and cook large family feasts ourselves. We provide basic spices and, as guests usually purchase and leave spices to suit their specific preferences, leave these out in our kitchen for future guests to use if desired. Further, since we frequently use the house ourselves, we provide cooking utensils, cookware, knife sharpeners, etc for our guests that are above what you would normally find in a Colorado mountain home. As we haven't owned this house for long, everything was purchased new 2 years ago or less. Although we can never anticipate the needs of a guest that is an above average chef cooking an elaborate meal, we try to have everything necessary. As with most vacation homes, things go missing or are misplaced by the cleaning personnel. The items you mentioned are on our inventory list of items we have purchased and keep in stock at the house. Thank you for pointing this out as I will make sure we locate them or re-purchase these items. Lastly, I am glad you were able to catch the hot-tub person. As you know, we also have a great property manager close-by that can help with any of these unexpected situations also. Thanks again for your input and we look forward to seeing you again at your next family reunion.

The home is in great shape and is obviously very well taken care of. We also had a great experience with the management company (Book by Owner). When it turned out the ovens weren't working, we called them and they had someone on the property within 15 minutes. When he wasn't able to repair the ovens, Book by Owner had a brand-new convection oven delivered to the home (on the Fourth of July). Great customer service. Fantastic all-around experience, and we will definitely be back!

If your looking for a cozy yet modern, perfectly located home to spend time with your family in a home that has everything you'll ever need...then this is it! We were so pleasantly surprised. These pictures that you see do not do any justice to the home. It is immaculate! The rooms were so beautiful and spacious. The kitchen has everything you need. They have thought of everything. The master shower is also a steam shower, which we used every day. The teenagers all slept downstairs in the TV room which had an sleeper sofa. there is also a secret room which has a full sized mattress on the floor. The floors are heated in the areas that are tiled and the carpeted areas are not just any old carpet...it is high end carpet which makes a huge difference. The house is quiet and the walls are thick. You can get up and make a pot of coffee without waking everyone up because the quality of the home and the foundation of the house is solid. The outside is PERFECT for the kids because its not directly on the street. Its kind of a hidden driveway. There is so much land both in front and in back of the house for the kids to run around and play in the snow. They never wanted to come in actually. There is also a hot tub. The owners even have a book that gives you so much information about the town and things they recommend. The indoor basketball court was great. There is also a ping pong table and fooseball table. The home is about a 8-10 minute drive to the Breckenridge Ski area. It was super easy to find. If you are not crazy about taking the gondola you can always drive up to pear 7 or peak 8 and valet your car (secret information...lol). Also, the home is about a 10-15 minute drive to Frisco which is where you will find the snow tubing and fun center. It was so much fun! What an amazing vacation. You will not regret renting this home. By the way...Here is my take on how many people you can actually fit in the home. Master Bedroom 2, bedroom #1-2, bedroom #2-3 (there is a pullout couch), kids room-5 (one regular bunk and one with larger bottom bunk), Downstairs 4, Living room sleeper sofa-2, 2 available cots provided -2. So thats a total of 20. Crazy right? Thats not including if you bring air mattresses. You will not be disappointed if you rent this home. It is a gem.

Was a little disappointed because we were told it had a two car garage however only one was available because the owners car was parked there. Also the hot water stopped working on our last day. They came relatively quickly to fix it, but it was a huge inconvience as no one could shower before we left town. The "basketball court" is the 3rd garage bay with a painted cement floor.
