    Beautiful cabin with a view!!

    Reviewed by: NRM81 on

Our family just stayed the weekend at Lacy's Log cabin. There were 6 of us. Plenty of room for everyone. The cabin was well furnished. Very clean! You can not get a better view! Wow! The house is heated by an under floor radiator, we never got cold. Keeps your toes warm! The location is fantastic if you're skiing. It is a little difficult to find, just follow the instructions you get from the owner. I do have a couple suggestions, we all drink coffee and there's only 4 mugs, so 2 more would be great! Also, the toilet paper could be better, not a deal breaker. And maybe add a frying pan. My family and I will stay in Lacy's Log cabin again! Thank you Bill (redacted by Evolve) and your sweet wife for your guidance and everything you guys do to keep your guest comfortable. Amazing visit!!

    Quaint winter getaway

We really enjoyed our January visit to Ruidoso and our stay in this cabin. It was a good size for 2 families (6 people in total). The hot tub was fantastic - especially the dichotomy of hot water but snow on the ground! The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, glasses, plates, etc. The beds were very comfortable and bathrooms were clean. The mountain views are as good as they look! The only "negatives" or opportunities for improvement that I see are 1) install new smoke alarms and 2) the floors are very creaky so every late night walk was heard throughout. However, bring ear plugs to sleep in and that can be remedied for under $5.

Our family truly enjoyed our week here. We can’t wait to visit this home again in the future. The hot tub was nice and hot. Lots of area for the kids to go on walks and explore. They even had a picnic with the deer, they followed them around and our kiddos named them. Beautiful area. Calm, quiet and we even got a little snow while we were there. A trip up the mountain and our kids played in the snow for hours!! All the kitchen items you could need to make homemade food too. Bed are COMFY! VThanks so much!

We had a great stay at Lacy’s Log Cabin. It was very cozy and warm. The heated floors provided way more heat than expected and there was no need to build a fire. Plenty of room for our large group of 8 adults. Although the pictures made it look much larger than it was and the square footage indicated by Evolve was incorrect, it was nice and met our needs. The constant flow of deer to the property was a special treat. We enjoyed our stay very much.

    Not impressed

    Reviewed by: Kris A. on

The heat did not work and the temperature got down to 25* and we froze. There was no firewood. The downstairs shower and sink had 0 pressure, everyone downstairs had to go up and use that shower. The owner got the heat on but a day before we are leaving and the cabin did not warm up until the morning we are leaving. Positive note the place is clean and nice, just needs thise amenities repaired. Probably will not book this cabin again.

    Manager's Response:
Kris, we're glad you liked the cabin itself, but are sorry to hear your stay didn't meet your expectations. We understand the homeowner responded immediately once you contacted them about the heat and was able to purchase 4 electric heaters which were brought over to the house right away. With all 4 plugged in, that will sufficiently heat the house to a comfortable temperature. We regret that the boiler wasn't working during your stay, but hope the homeowner's generous measures of ensuring there was enough heat helped to make up for the inconvenience. We were unaware of the water pressure situation in the downstairs shower and they have never experienced any issues with this previously as the whole house is on one service line. There are distinct valves on the fixtures which occasional guests might not be aware of. In regards to the firewood, the homeowner explained that it is available from local vendors as well as on the ground around the property. The homeowner works diligently to ensure all guests who come to visit have the optimal stay and takes great care of the cabin. They have never received this kind of feedback previously. We are confident this property will continue to host satisfied guests! Best, the Evolve Team

Had a blast staying. The cabin is well appointed and wonderfully decorated and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great views, quiet, and cool weather. Only removing one star due to all of the smoke/CO detectors being removed throughout the home. That in itself would not prevent us from staying again, but there is a safety concern with no detectors in an all wood home that is supplied with gas...

    Perfect Mountain Retreat

    Reviewed by: Holly D. on

I really can't say enough good things about this property. There were six of us in total, and there was plenty of room for everyone. This place is far enough to be considered isolated and yet close enough to the amenities of Ruidoso. Our favorite part was feeding the deer every morning and collecting firewood for the fireplace. Sunsets were gorgeous every day. The kitchen had everything we needed, there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows, and the whole place was clean and tidy. We appreciated the extra toiletries in the bathroom, and my kids loved the claw foot tub. Wifi and cable worked great. Heating was perfect, and all the appliances worked. If there were any negatives, I'd say it was a little hard to figure out which light switches operated what, and the back door deadbolt sticks quite a bit. My mom was unable to unlock the door because she wasn't strong enough. Still though, I would recommend this place to everybody. I plan to rent Lacy's Log Cabin again if we return to Ruidoso. :-D

This property is in a mountain area with a beautiful view and lovely wrap around porch with hot tub. The house is a cute log cabin style, the manager and owner was very responsive to phone calls and refunded some of the cleaning fee since the person cleaning the cabin did not finish. The only negatives were water pressure and the heating. We were very cold in our room downstairs until the last night. There was no firewood available at cabin for fireplace, so we gathered some and purchased some. Overall, a nice place in a wooded area with great views.

Everything about this cabin was top notch. It was well decorated, had great entertainment and it has a great view of the mountains. The hot tub was awesome as well. The driveway has two entrances and you will need to use the back entrance if you do not have a truck; the front is pretty rough. Only complaint is that I have never seen a grill without a temperature gauge. Only 2 burners worked but it was useless anyways because you cant cook anything without knowing the temperature of the grill

Magical Christmas at Lacy's Log Cabin

    Reviewed by: Donna N. on

Dreams of a White Christmas became a reality and there was no better place to experience it than at Lacy's Log Cabin in Alto, NM. The log house is wonderful with a great view of Sierra Blanca from the spacious front porch. The Milky Way put on quite a spectacular show in the winter sky. The radiant floor heat during the cold weather was a treat and the pool table was fun for the grands. The hot tub was ready upon arrival and felt relaxing, day or night. Hand feeding apple slices, carrot coins...and maybe an oatmeal cookie or two...on the back deck to the herd of deer passing by mornings and afternoons was a thrill for everyone. With Santa and reindeer snacks set out by the toasty fireplace, we slipped into bed Christmas Eve hoping for snow. And it did! After opening presents, we bundled up and went sledding on the neighborhood streets and made a snowman. So much fun. The gas grill cooked our Christmas steaks to perfection. The house contact person was easy to reach by phone prior to the trip and had helpful answers to my questions. A Little Slice of Heaven!

The pictures do not do this beautiful location justice. As we drove up for our yearly "Chick Trip", the jacuzzi was being prepared for our use by maintenance. Aside from that, our group of ladies were left to our own devices in an immaculate, fully stocked and furnished cabin with breathtaking views overlooking the mountains of Ruidoso. It was unseasonably hot (95) on our first day of arrival, but quickly cooled to 55 that evening. The cabin had a roll-away AC unit that we didn't even bother using, as the cool breeze through the windows, along with the ceiling fans, were enough to keep the cabin temperature comfortable. We enjoyed the sunsets and sunrises from ample swings and rocking chairs scattered around both decks on either sides of the cabin. We particularly enjoyed hand feeding apples, carrots and celery to the deer popped in for a visit. We an early morning horseback ride at Grindstone Stables with some of the most friendly and helpful guides, and followed up with an adrenaline rush of an afternoon Zipline ride at Ski Apache. The first attempt to zipline was delayed by a day for us due to lightning in the afternoon. Because this is considered "monsoon season", afternoon showers common. Plan accordingly!! We really enjoyed the easy friendliness the community of Ruidoso exudes as a whole, and was pleasantly surprised to see how pet-friendly this community is as well. Last year's chick trip was the beach, but our stay in Ruidoso won a very special place in our hearts. We WILL be back!!! *This review was originally posted on HomeAway for a stay in Jul-16

One complaint this trip was that the hot tub cover was broken so they had to remove it. This resulted in the water being very dirty and therefore we did not use it during our stay. We wish it would have been fixed prior to our stay becaus we were really looking forward to using the hot tub because it was beautiful weather but did not feel comfortable because the water was so dirty because of the broken cover. *This review was originally posted on HomeAway for a stay in Jan-16
