Evolve team was helpful during booking process and issues during our stay. We stayed over the weekend and there was a heavy leak from the upstairs jet bathtub through the first floor ceiling. Never got a response from maintenance. I was able to get in touch with the homeowner the following morning. Due to it being a Sunday I assumed that the issue wouldn't be able to be fixed during our stay as we were leaving the next morning. It was an inconvenience for my family of four but the owner and the Evolve team were very apologetic and issued a partial refund. On the brighter side of things . . . The kids and I enjoyed the hot tub and the views from the balcony were pleasant. Location was great. Would suggest that this cabin would be ideal for couples rather than small families.

We stayed here for a long birthday weekend and enjoyed our stay. The cabin is cozy and was perfect for our family of 3. Our daughter loved the hot tub and we all enjoyed the outdoor space. The location was perfect as it is a short drive to pigeon forge and Gatlinburg, but was super private and quiet. There are plenty of towels and linens and the kitchen was pretty well stocked. The cabin is a little dusty and the windows could be cleaned, but It is a cabin in the woods...We would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to the Smokey's!

Two adults, 3 kids, enough room for everyone. Easy check in/out. Might want to bring extra laundry detergent and toilet paper, but plenty of everything else for 5 for our 5 days. Kitchen is nicely stocked with utensils/cookware. Overall great experience. Hot tub=amazing. Pool table is wonky but you aren't going to shoot a tournament, especially with younger kids! We had a great time. I wanted a very "cabiny" cabin and this was exactly that. Very pleased.

Cabin was decent... we enjoyed our stay. Probably wouldn’t stay there again. Cobwebs EVERYWHERE! Couldn’t walk through cabin without walking into a cobweb!! Xbox did not work.. cable connecting it to the tv was broken. That was a bummer. Jacuzzi tub upstairs jets did not work. Also tub is so deep short person like myself (5’3) couldn’t get in it without stepping on something first. Kind of inconvenient. Didn’t realize there wasn’t a real shower in upstairs bathroom. To use the shower head in the jacuzzi tub you would get water EVERYWHERE! So we just showered downstairs. TV in bedroom is teeny tiny. Dated. And remote did not work. Not a big deal but inconvenient. Read several comments prior that said memory foam bed was very comfortable. Was not terrible but sure wasn’t comfortable. No where to put your clothing in the bedroom. (Dresser) So we just kept everything in our bags.

Kitchen seemed to be very well stocked. We did not cook however. Freezer had an ice maker which was a plus. Outside hot tub was very nice!! Very hot!!! Very relaxing!! (Was our favorite part) pool table was nice... only had time to play once... porch was nice and closed in so pets could roam around when we sat outside. Was perfect size for us 2 adults and 2 dogs.

Kaley, we're glad you enjoyed your stay overall, but are sorry to hear certain aspects fell short. As this cabin is in a woodsy, mountainous location, there are occasional bugs. However, we can assure you that the property is regularly services for pests, including annual roof resealing. We appreciate your suggestions for areas of improvement and can confirm the issues with the bathtub jets and cobwebs will be addressed. Our stay at our cabin was nothing short of amazing. We arrived and fell in love from the start. The cabin is not overly spacious, it gives a warm, family feel. Everything about the experience speaks "Smoky Mountains". Winding, climbing roads to get to the cabin, misty morning views, crisp air and the quiet of nature. Our host, Fred, was super responsive to any needs we had. The place was clean and had plenty of areas for entertainment! Billiards, tvs, hot tub, outdoor space for walking/running/hiking, etc... There are soooo many things to do as the drive to Sevierville and Pigeon Forge's main attractions is no more than 15-20 minutes. Would highly recommend this cabin and area!

Overall the cabin is beautiful and welcoming. But there are a few things we were disappointed with. Pros: The memory foam bed was very comfortable, the hot tub seemed to be brand new and was really nice Cons: kitchen appliances were older, but functioned sufficiently, wine glass was cloudy and needed washed before use, fireplace only works during fall and winter months (understandable but still disappointing), the jets in the upstairs tub do not work, finish was coming off and the tub needed to be filled up with the shower head (the lever you pull for the shower kept popping open when we turned the water on)- still loved the tub but would have been even better if everything worked and it was cleaner. Would be a 5 star cabin if the owner took a little time to address the things that need attention.

Stefanie, we love hearing that you enjoyed this welcoming cabin in a beautiful setting. We appreciate your insight and have shared your feedback with the homeowner who would like to deliver the following message:

"Thank your Stefanie for taking the time to make your constructive comments on making the MR a 5-star cabin once again. I’ve already emailed a new plumber to look at the upstairs tub lever and jets problem. As far as the kitchen appliances I will have to search my records but I’m fairly confident the refrigerator and dishwasher are only two years old. Stove is a an older appliance. Vicki my property manager was sent your email so the corrections will be taken care of very shortly. Thank you for your input - it helps so much being an owner."

Beautiful cottage-style,rustic cabin! Enjoyed our stay. Mainly slept, spent early morning and late evenings on the porches, and used the hot tub: 2 people in upper bedroom, 2 on pullout sofa, and one person on air mattress and sleeping bag. Possible factors of interest in your decision-making: 1. Internet connection is sporadic; 2. If jets in jetted tub upstairs work, I cannot say; 3. Coffee pot makes coffee very slowly; 4. The pond is down the hill in the community, not exactly close to the cabin. Thanks, again! Enjoyed our stay.

This cabin served its purpose but we would not stay there again. I was very uncomfortable with the fact that the code on the door lock stays the same for every guest. This made me feel unsafe. The cabin itself is in need of a major deep cleaning to clear spiderwebs inside and outside, ceiling fans, and those areas you don't clean every week. This would include the porches and furniture. The cabin was adequately stocked with linens but no trash bags or hangers, the latter of which we purchased and left in the cabin. The location of the cabin was great but a mention of the condition of the drive up the mountain would have be useful as our car (Altima) had difficulty dodging the holes.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience and we are sorry to hear your stay fell short of expectations. We have shared your feedback with the homeowner who let us know that there should have been bags in each trash can for use, but extras are usually not left because guests sometimes take them home. The home does get a thorough cleaning in the spring and fall, and previous guests had not mentioned any issues with regards to this, but the appropriate adjustments will be made to ensure future guests do not experience the same issue. This home is in the wilderness, so new spiderwebs can pop up, and we do apologize for this. Thank you for letting us know about the code - the homeowner will make sure the code is updated between guests. Our overall stay was nice, but there were a couple things that made it less than enjoyable. To start with, we had trouble finding the cabin because the address given in the navigation didn't specify a cabin number. We had to call to get that information. The condition of the road leading up and down from the cabin was so bad in one area that, in a car, we bottomed out every time we drove over it. There wasn't a way to avoid it because it was a steep one lane road. Once in the cabin, the only issue we had was with the fireplace. It was the one thing in the cabin we couldn't find operation instructions. When we first got there, the fireplace lit. Later that night when we tried to use it again, it wouldn't light. We called the local connect the next day, but nothing made the fireplace work, regardless of using the manual pilot light or long lighter from the drawer. Due to the smell of propane, we decided to just turn it off. Other than these issues, we had a nice time. If we had a different vehicle, we'd probably come again. Thank you.

Upon arrival, you can tell the cabin has been used several times. Location is great, very private. The first night there, the fireplace wouldn't work, however, Charlie came out the next day and fixed it. At night, you can hear what appears to be nice or rats running up the walls and in the ceiling of the cabin. You can also hear them behind the fireplace. Also noticed a huge urine stain on the mattress, which didn't have a mattress pad to cover it. Also found hairs on the sheets and the pillows were extremely flat and used. The hot tub works well, but the gel coating is chipping off and it floats in the water. All the previous reviews about this place are true!! I will say that the cabin itself was clean, other than the mattress!! We won't stay again, but I hope that the owners are able to review all previous reviews and spend a little money on this cabin. We travel several times a year and use VRBO all the time. Was disappointed in this cabin.

We were only in the cabin to sleep, most of our days were spent exploring this wonderful town. The kids slept on the pull out couch and it was big enough to keep them separated while sleeping. We all wanted to have the experience of staying in a cabin vs. a hotel and we achieved that cozy feeling here. Never seen a bear here just skinks, bunnies and turkies (skunk too). Our kids are 11 and 14 - we went ziplining twice - White water rafting with smoky mountain whitewater rafting - Rented a UTV at Smoky Mountain Premier RV Resort - Toured Cades Cove - Ate at the Alamo Paula Deen - Mets Diner - Hatfield and McCoys was fun - Toured Forbidden Caverns - Ole Smoke Moonshine for the adults - Wonder Works - Applewood farmhouse was so good - The Island - Dicks Last Resort was crazy but fun - JT Hannahs was great! Flapjacks was terrible.

The Cabin was exactly like the pictures online. That to me was exactly what I was hoping for. The rocking chairs on the porch is where I spent most evenings just listening to nature.
We are from Florida so to be able to sit on an open porch and not get eaten alive by bugs was my favorite! We never got to use the hot tub or sunken tub upstairs. Maybe next time we can come in the fall when the heat index here isn't at 100 degrees!

Quiet, Rustic, Relaxing. Just needs some TLC

    Reviewed by: David C. on

    Comment:

We very much enjoyed our stay. It was extremely hot the whole time but the cabin was always nice and cool. Everything was as stated so no complaints there. However, the cabin does need some TLC. While this is not the responsibility of the owner, the road has some bad spots that move you almost off the road. Be careful in the winter. It can be a steep ascent.

When we arrived I noticed some of the screens on the door were broken and a previous party had taken the steps to try and close the gaps with thumb tacks. I tried to close the gaps as well and did an ok job, but some new screens are in order. The same goes for the upstairs balcony. The screen was broken the most there and the door didn't close at all so the interior door stayed closed the whole time. On that note, the housekeeper could do better. We found plenty of dog hair and spider webs were within easy reach in the main room. This part is a product of the environment, but could possibly be related to the screens. We found a dead lizard in one of the closets which freaked out my wife pretty bad. The lizards kept to themselves (outside) the rest of our stay.

Entertainment: While the pool table was nice, there's only one pool cue which is starting to warp. We didn't use the XBOX so I can't review that. There was a kinda old selection of DVDs and VHS tapes scattered throughout the cabin but we didn't watch them. The upstairs cable box needs immediate attention. The coax input to the converter has a broken solder and needs replacement. Comcast doesn't charge for this so there's no reason it can't be done with minimal trouble. I'm an engineer so I did a field repair that kept it in working condition for our stay, but it won't hold forever.

Beds: Fantastic. You can't beat the memory foam. I had an excellent night's sleep every time. Our daughter found the couch more comfortable than the pull-out bed but it felt ok to me.

Bathrooms: We used the downstairs bathroom for showering. I don't see how you could use the jacuzzi shower head for a traditional shower. Nobody used the jacuzzi tub so no review there. IMPORTANT: Both toilets need repair. The flapper valve on both stick and are constantly stopping and starting. A BAD waste of water/septic.

When we left, we were delayed be several dozen bumble bees on the porch with what sounded like many, many, many more beneath the deck.

We'll stay there if we get to the area again. It's a GREAT view and very relaxing.

My husband and I and two of our four Siberian Huskies had a great time Jan 24-26, 2015. Liked the bedroom Jacuzzi as much as the hot tub. GREATFUL that we were allowed to take our dogs. I could not get the stereo to play in the pool table room, and the bottom of the screen doors were busted out, probably from other dogs, but its winter and we kept the inside doors closed anyway. A hard metal bottom screen screwed on bottom half of the screen doors would allow air flow and prevent having to repair screens in spring/summer/fall. It would also allow the fresh air and bird sounds in the cabin and dogs from escaping, and less air condition running. Great pots and pans to cook with, and great décor. The bed was comfortable to us. The phone did not have a dial tone but my cell worked, and had a little problem when we left, but I called the cleaning lady and she said she would come take care of it; she was very nice. A great getaway location, and there were places on Wears valley road that we can go to shopping and one cool ride that we will try next time we come, it appears to ride from top of mountain zig-zagging down through the forest to the bottom, something that people who stay on the strip might not know about. Kroger grocery store just as you turn on to Wears Valley Rd., McDonalds too. It was a Very relaxing easy to find wintertime location.

We stayed a week in the cabin in July 2012. We found the cabin very easily and we were quite pleased when we arrived. It was just my wife and I for the entire time and we wanted something cozy and nestled in the mountains. We found it with this cabin. It was our home-away-from-home while we were visiting the area and it was located very conveniently to Gatlinburg, the State Park and multiple other attractions. In general, the cabin was very clean. We did notice that inside, way up amongst the beams in the very high ceiling, there were some pretty big spider webs with those white egg sacks that obviously contained a bunch of unwanted visitors. We did see many spiders (we would expect some); but would have liked for this to be cleaned so as to cut down on them. The only other negative was the bed. Yes, it is a tempur pedic mattress; but perhaps the frame or the mattress itself was bad in the middle, as we felt like we were sleeping in a bowl. The middle was quite a bit lower than the edges and of course a bed needs to be flat. Every night we couldn't get really comfortable, as we felt like we were continuosly rolling downward towards each other towards the center of the bed. A simple upgrade or a fix to the frame should remedy this issue. Outside of that, this was a really nice cabin and we would love to return again. David and Kristin
